Well, it turns out that Mother Nature has a sense of humor. Kilauea volcano, which is one of Hawaii’s five most active volcanoes, sits along the southern shore of the island. It has been continuously erupting since 1983, and ABC News reports that “[l]ava from the Hawaiian volcano’s Pu’u O’o crater reached the ocean for the first time since 2013.”
But in a spectacular recent eruption, a smiley face appeared in the mouth of the volcano. The event was happily captured by a helicopter tour company flying above.
