High School Senior Predicts Chicago Cubs Will Win the 2016 World Series—in 1993!

Update: The Cubs won the World Series Wednesday night!

A California high school student may have accurately predicted the 2016 World Series winner way back in 1993. Michael Lee, then a senior at Mission Viejo High School, made the prediction under his yearbook photo. Lee wrote, “Chicago Cubs. 2016 World Series Champions. You heard it here first.”

The Cubs haven’t won the National League pennant since 1945, and haven’t won a World Series since 1908 — which makes this a pretty crazy prediction. Lee, who now actually lives in Chicago, apparently forgot all about it until Marcos Meza, an old high school buddy, reconnected with him on Facebook in 2009 and reminded him of his prediction.

“He posted the photo of his prediction on August 8th,” Meza said. “After my Dodgers lost it was time for me to make this go viral and BeLEEve in the Cubs for 2016.”

The Cubs and Indians are currently tied at one game. If Lee’s prediction turns out to be true, it will be “more accurate than Back to the Future Part II,” according to Inside Edition.
