11 Tweets the Media Won't Show You Following the Recapture of 'El Chapo'

Shortly after news broke on Friday that Mexican marines recaptured powerful drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, Twitter users flocked online to express their outrage that the Sinaloa Cartel head didn’t have the opportunity to assassinate current GOP presidential candidate Donald J. Trump.

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto relayed the news of the arrest, tweeting a “Mission accomplished” message in Spanish.

But some people didn’t receive it very well. Here are the top 11 tweets mainstream media outlets covering the 2016 election won’t show you following the recapture:

Factoring in the criminal mastermind’s reputation for evading custody more than once, some aren’t giving up hope on the idea of Mr. Trump’s murder.

This isn’t the first time that Twitter users have rooted for “El Chapo” to take out the GOP frontrunner. Following his prison escape in July 2015, I reported on how users were counting on the drug lord to come right for Mr. Trump.

My PJTV colleagues John Phillips, Stephen Kruiser and Scott Ott have previously discussed a brief online spat in which a Twitter account linked to Guzman directly threatened Trump, shortly after escaping prison in that same month.

Regarding “El Chapo,” Trump has said that he would “kick his ass!” (Segment here.)

As of this writing, PJ Media is only one of the few  outlets  that have exposed these recent tweets calling for the death of a current U.S. presidential candidate.
