The Temple Mount in Jerusalem was once the site of glorious complexes sacred to the worship of the true God, the God of Israel. Now, mosques sit there, and Muslims falsely claim they have a better right to the mountain. But a major shift just happened, because for the first time in a long time, police escorted Jews to pray out loud on the mountain that belonged to their people many centuries before the invention of Islam.
The Jerusalem Post reported Friday that more than 20 Jews climbed up the steps to the mosque compound while singing the Shabbat hymn “Yedid Nefesh.” One woman who had immigrated to Israel from Ukraine told the Post how “very special” it was to pray on the ground under which lies buried the foundations of the last Temple. Usually, Israeli authorities restrict Jewish prayer to the last remaining wall of the final Temple, but from now on, Jews are hopeful that they will also sometimes be able to pray on the Mount proper.
One Muslim man told the Post he isn’t bothered if Jews pray “quietly” on the Mount, which Muslims call the Dome of the Rock. “People should worship God in the way they want to,” he said. But several Muslim women complained, “This place is for Islam.” There’s nothing like Muslims’ ability to rewrite history. Unfortunately, Muslims considerably outnumber Jews and Christians in Jerusalem, and while some Muslims are happy to be Israeli, others empathize with Hamas and other terrorist groups, which is why you can find merchandise depicting “Palestine” as all of Israel at numerous Jerusalem shops.
If we had history to do over again, I think the Jews should have knocked down the Al-Aqsa mosque compound when they took back all of Jerusalem in the 1960s, because so long as it exists there, Muslim jihadis will never stop claiming that it is obvious they should own Jerusalem. Not only that, but why should there be buildings dedicated to the worship of a demonic god, according to the tenets of a religion that explicitly encourages the murder of Jews and Christians, on the spot which the God of Israel claimed for His own and where Jesus Christ taught?

In his 2025 movie The Dragon’s Prophecy, Dinesh D’Souza emphasized the fact that Satan wants to claim the Temple Mount for his own because in the Bible it is established as the seat or house of God (eg., Psalm 121/122:1, 2 Chronicles 7), and so taking over that mountain is a sense “usurping” God‘s throne. Since Satan and his followers can never overthrow God, they try to take over spots particularly sacred to God.
The Temple Mount was the site of the Jewish Temple more than a thousand years before Islam was even invented. And it was not until Muslim Arabs began to conquer Christians and Jews that they invented stories about Mohammed and Jerusalem after the fact, to claim he had a connection to Jerusalem and to try and assert their stake in the history of the Mount. Just as Muslims have taken over many countries that were once Christian, just as they would like to wipe Israel off the map for being Jewish, the Al-Aqsa mosque compound is a physical symbol of the genocidal jihad and stolen heritage that define both historical and modern Islam.
The Jews should not have to ask for permission from the Muslims to pray in their own capital on the mountain God made sacred to them.
