The latest development of Islamists’ brazen plans to make New York City a sharia dictatorship is that a famous activist with an organization that supports genocide wants to prevent all city residents from having pet dogs because Islam considers the animals unclean.
With Muslim radical Zohran Mamdani as the new mayor of New York, activists are increasingly bold in their demands for the city to comply with sharia. Islam stole many of its ideas from Judaism and Christianity and then warped them. Thus, among Muslims, pigs and dogs are considered unclean. American Islamic Outreach Foundation states that since Mohammed ordered a vessel licked by a dog to be cleaned multiple times, Muslims believe that dog saliva creates ritual impurity, and so Muslims who wish to maintain a constant state of ritual purity prefer not to associate with dogs at all.
My colleague Robert Spencer in a previous article for JihadWatch about the Islamic regime in Iran considering a ban on dogs noted multiple passages from Islamic sacred texts that vilify dogs, such as “It is detestable for a Muslim to allow a dog to live in his house. (Al-Kafi, H 12735, ch. 12, h 1),” and “Whoever keeps a dog, every day one Qirat (a certain unit of measurement) is reduced from the (good) deeds of his owner. (Al-Kafi, H 12736, ch. 12, h 2).”
Hence, Nerdeen Kiswani wrote on X that dogs have a “place in society” but “not as indoor pets” because “Like we've said all along, they are unclean.” After receiving huge backlash, according to The UK Daily Mail, she tried to backtrack by claiming she was joking because there was so much “dog s**t” on the streets of New York. The Daily Mail noted that Kiswani previously gained notoriety through her organization, Within Our Lifetime, which explicitly calls for Israel to be eradicated.
It's all very well for Kiswani to pretend she's joking now, but a woman who openly affirms her loyalty to sharia tenets and who, above all, sees no issue with calling for the literal destruction of Israel, isn't trustworthy. A Muslim who justifies torching Jewish babies and raping Jewish women just for being Jewish would hardly balk at a similarly violent campaign against dogs. And if she has an organization behind her, there are numerous Islamists who agree with her in NYC.
In fact, New York City is not the first city to see such demands. After the UK Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs decided the British countryside was "too white," Cotswolds and Chilterns officials are now trying to attract a more ethnically "diverse" population, as my colleague Sarah Anderson reported, and part of that means Brits are supposed to "control" their dogs "better" to avoid offending Muslims.
And if you're not a dog person, don't be too sure Islamists won't come for other pets next. When I was in Israel, I noticed that Palestinian Authority-controlled cities like Bethlehem had no stray cats, while Israeli-controlled cities like Jerusalem and Tel Aviv had numerous stray cats (many of them very friendly). I subsequently found out from a tour guide that the Palestinians ate all the cats that used to live in those cities. Amazing how, with billions of dollars of foreign aid pouring into the Palestinian Authority every year, the Muslims deliberately chose to eat cats.
Islam as a religion is antithetical to Western values.
