Hamas launched the war with Israel by massacring more Jews on a single day than any day since the Nazi Holocaust. Qatar’s regime backed Hamas throughout the entire bloody war with Israel and up to the present time, when Hamas continues to withhold bodies of murdered Israeli hostages. Yet Qatar will have a representative on the board supposed to keep peace in Gaza, while Israel was not consulted.
At a certain point, reviewing the policy of American presidents on Israeli-Arab affairs up through the present, one has to wonder at the constant repetition. The cycle always happens that Palestinian terrorists commit atrocities and start a war, Muslim dictatorships support the terrorists, and at the last moment, American presidents set Israel up for the next war by rewarding the terrorists with almost exactly what they wanted. At what point do we realize none of this leads to peace?
Trump might have the best of intentions, but good intentions can sometimes be as harmful as ill intentions. If you want to put out a fire for good, you do not invite the arsonists to help you and exclude the firemen.

The problem with America expanding its ties to and deals with Islamic dictatorships such as the Hamas-sponsoring regime in Qatar is that we are then more inclined to take their advice on matters where they can least be trusted. Qatar is still pouring money into American universities to radicalize our students, while simultaneously supporting terrorists both within their country and abroad, including Gaza. We simply cannot rely on their honesty.
As for the Palestinian Authority (PA), which is also supposed to retain some power under the new plan, it invited Hamas to unify with it, and continues to pour money into the pay-for-slay program. As of late last year, the PA’s 2025 pay-for-slay bill was $214 million, all specifically given to reward terrorists who killed Israelis.
As for Turkey’s government, also to have representation on the Gaza Board of Peace, its dictator Recep Tayyip Erdogan is also closely tied to multiple terrorist groups — including Hamas, for which Turkey reaffirmed its support in 2024. Erdogan compared Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Hitler. How on earth is the Turkish government supposed to provide objective assistance for a lasting peace between Gaza and Israel?

I am not doubting that the Islamic terrorists and their supporters have made passionate and grandiose promises to Trump. They did so right before Palestinian terrorists repeatedly broke the ceasefire in October, too. Perhaps Western leaders need to review the concept of taqiyya. This Islamic concept essentially allows jihadis to lie to non-Muslims to achieve their ends.
And what about the Israelis whose towns were destroyed by Hamas and Hezbollah and who are still trying to rebuild? Where is the international board to help them? Why is it only Palestinian terrorists who have received significant international aid?
From the Times of Israel:
In a rare break with US President Donald Trump’s administration, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office says yesterday’s White House unveiling of the Gaza Board of Peace’s executive committee “was not coordinated with Israel and contradicts its policy.”
The executive committee includes top officials from Turkey and Qatar, both of which have been highly critical of Israel’s prosecution of the war in Gaza.
Islam, as a religion, explicitly condones Jihad, sex slavery, rape, and other evils. The tragic reality is that we simply cannot make deals with people like that. Any treaty with them is by definition temporary.
