Climate hysteria is frightful, but seeing doom prophecies fail is delightful.
For those leftists who are freaking out that holiday food favorites will disappear because of climate change ruining crops (spoiler alert: fake news), they are mentally and psychologically frozen. But for those leftists who are driving electric vehicles (EVs) this winter, they might find themselves freezing literally. Unfortunately, in at least one state, innocent schoolchildren are suffering the frigid effects of climate alarmist stupidity.
The reality is that there have always been periods of worse weather in many parts of the world, sometimes affecting large swathes of the globe at one time (though the concept of average global temperature is a fiction). For instance, meteorologist Ryan Maue posted yesterday, “The Earth's climate of the 1790s was brutal for humanity due to a mega El Niño. More than 1% of global population perished[.] The entire world was in upheaval from drought and heat waves, and even Caribbean hurricanes.”
Behind the dramatic language is the truth that the weather is by nature changeable. Thomas Jefferson remembered that in the time of his grandparents, rivers in Virginia would consistently freeze over, but by his time, that was already beginning to cease, and now it is rarer. Weather changes, and whether you drive an SUV or not, that will always be true.

All of which is to say you shouldn’t be shivering in your snow boots with fear because of climate alarmist nonsense this winter. There is, in fact, no climate crisis, and human emissions are not driving atmospheric CO2, but that does not stop leftists from screaming that we are all going to die. And this year, in true Grinch spirit, they are imposing their nonsense on the holidays.
“Climate change is coming for Rudolph, your hot chocolate and your white Christmas,” screeched Philly Voice. “Reindeer populations could decline 50% by century's end. Cocoa crops are failing. And the odds of snow on Dec. 25 are shrinking.” Ironically, earlier this month, the polar vortex blast in some parts of America was described as a “wrecking ball” of frigid weather.
In a similar strain, The New Republic’s Rachel Kahn moaned on Dec. 14, “Chocolate, vanilla, coffee, cinnamon: The ingredients for your favorite holiday foods are becoming increasingly harder to grow because of climate change.” The Heartland Institute’s H. Sterling Burnett, citing UN data, countered that, actually, all of the crops Kahn cited have increased in the last three decades.

In New York, it’s not climate change but climate alarmism that is nipping at the fingers and noses of school children. New York mandated that all school bus purchases by 2027 be electric vehicles, and the electric vehicles they already have not only have a habit of breaking down, but they cannot maintain battery life while also heating the vehicle interior. Bus drivers are turning down or turning off the heat even in temperatures below freezing, enraging parents who rightly recognize the EV buses as disasters. Other EV drivers will have the same problem this winter, as the batteries often cannot maintain the heating and propel the cars at the same time.
Make yourself a cup of hot chocolate, turn on your favorite Christmas movie, and ignore the blizzard of leftist hysteria that is turning their Christmas spirit to ice.
