Texas’s Illegal Islamic Development Project and Islam’s Incompatibility With Americanism

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is determined to stop a controversial and apparently illegal Islamist development project in his state. His lawsuit highlights a key point that many American politicians do not want to address — that Islam is itself inherently incompatible with American values, and therefore a threat to our culture and freedoms.

I am not, of course, making the argument that every Muslim is evil or incapable of being patriotic. But Islam itself, as laid out in its sacred texts and sharia law, is most definitely completely at odds with freedom, constitutional rights, and the Judeo-Christian ethic of our founding.

First of all, a little bit on Paxton’s lawsuit against the East Plano Islamic Center (“EPIC”) project. “The leaders behind EPIC City have engaged in a radical plot to destroy hundreds of acres of beautiful Texas land and line their own pockets,” accused Paxton. “I will relentlessly bring the full force of the law against anyone who thinks they can ignore the rules and hurt Texans. The unlawful land project known as EPIC City will be stopped, and those responsible will be barred from ever creating another fraudulent operation like this again.”

His press release added:

[Community Capital Partners], an entity formed by EPIC as a vehicle for purchasing and developing more than 400 acres in Hunt and Collin Counties, violated securities laws, including engaging in fraudulent practices while soliciting funds. Certain promotional materials implied that the project would be unlawfully reserved for Muslims specifically and described the development as the “epicenter of Islam in North America.” Despite promising not to, the developers have also funneled a significant amount of the funds to their own pockets. Further, for more than 10% of those who purchased securities, CCP failed to verify their status as “accredited investors,” as required by law.

Now, Paxton is absolutely right to oppose this on a moral basis, as well as a legal one.

From the inherent inferiority of women to the endorsement of jihad to the institutionalization of rape to the approval of honor killings, there is so much in the Islamic religion that cannot be reconciled with our founding principles in this country. Multiple passages in the Quran and Hadith (collected sayings of Muhammed), Islam’s holy texts, and the Sirah (biographies of Muhammed), command or endorse murder and sexual abuse. For example, below are a few sample texts supporting jihad and murder of non-Muslims:

“Indeed, Allah has bought from the believers their lives and their wealth, because the garden will be theirs, they will fight in the way of Allah and will kill and be killed.” (Quran 9:111)

“So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them.” (Quran 9:5)

“[Hadith:] Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them ...” (Sahih Muslim 6985)

You will have noticed, of course, that Muslims are particularly directed to kill Jews, which explains so much of the Arab world‘s genocide against Jews during the last century, culminating in the unending jihad against Israel.

As I mentioned above, Islam also essentially institutionalized rape, because women are not permitted to repulse the sexual advances of the men in their lives. Sexual slavery is also permissible, especially of non-Muslim women, as is child marriage. Muslims commit the overwhelming majority of honor killings in the world today. Muslim men are currently facing murder charges in the Netherlands after the remains of their female family member were discovered with circumstances pointing to an honor killing.

Hence, while Paxton is basing his case on the legal violations of the EPIC project, his lawsuit has just as much cultural and ethical significance as it does legal significance.
