Socialism’s Poison, From America to Europe

Socialist/Marxist ideology is a deadly poison, and unfortunately, it has been seeping into Western institutions and governments for decades now. If we don’t reject this ideology — and even conservatives have imbibed aspects of it — the West will self-destruct.

Frederic Bastiat warned against the socialist idea that any problem must involve government action and solution, an idea that seems just as prevalent among Republicans (even MAGA) in the U.S. now as among Democrats. GK Chesterton, on the other hand, more specifically warned against the socialist idea that the elites or the state should raise children, not parents. Two examples of the above socialist propositions occurred recently in the U.S. and in Ireland, and should serve as wake-up calls to all freedom lovers.

From Enoch Burke having his life savings seized in Ireland for denying transgender ideology to the Colorado mom who can’t get police intervention for her child kidnapped by groomers, we can see the West is in trouble. Too often people take the lazy road out by wishing entire countries into Hades because some government officials are or an administration is corrupt. Rather, in the American mindset of individualism and creative daring, freedom lovers should band together and stand up against the socialists’ tyranny across the West.

In “The Law,” 1850, Bastiat wrote, “Socialism, like the ancient ideas from which it springs, confuses the distinction between government and society. As a result of this, every time we object to a thing being done by government, the socialists conclude that we object to its being done at all. We disapprove of state education. Then the socialists say that we are opposed to any education. We object to a state religion. Then the socialists say that we want no religion at all.”

It sounds as relevant today as it was in 1850, doesn’t it? “We object to a state-enforced equality. Then they say that we are against equality. And so on, and so on. It is as if the socialists were to accuse us of not wanting persons to eat because we do not want the state to raise grain.”

Bastiat was absolutely right. So was Chesterton when he observed the following about the claim that “all children are our children,” a claim Joe Biden and other Democrats have made:

I said to myself, "That’s it! She’s got it! She’s got the exactly correct formula for the worst and most poisonous of all the political wrongs that rot out the entrails of the world. That is what has wrecked democracy; wrecked domesticity through the breadth and depth of democracy; wrecked dignity…that is what has taken away from the poor man the pride and honor of the father of a household…his children are not his children; and democracy is dead."

Enoch Burke probably feels that democracy is dead in Ireland, and living in a democratic republic did not help Cindy recover her kidnapped gender dysphoric child. As I wrote:

Teacher Enoch Burke respectfully refused to use invented pronouns for a student who claimed to be transgender. Since he was teaching at a Christian school, the young Irishman believed that his Christian belief that there are only two sexes would be respected. He was wrong.

The Church of Ireland has been silent as the Irish courts railroad Burke for his beliefs. And according to Burke, schools across Ireland are sexualizing children and demanding fidelity to the religion of wokeness … Burke explained that on payday, he received no salary and his bank account was raided. As he makes €750 weekly, and has to put aside a little at a time, the loss of his life savings — €40,000 — is indeed a significant blow.

Like Burke, American mother Cindy found that the authorities who were supposed to uphold the law instead punished the innocent.

Colorado Parent Advocacy Network (CPAN) posted March 25, “Who do parents turn to when adults are housing their minor child without consent? Police, of course. But in this case? Watch as deputies laugh and mock a mother desperately trying to get her daughter away from those who groomed her and helped fund her emancipation—without parental consent.”

CPAN accuses “nearly every institution” of working against Cindy as she tries to bring her daughter home. Watch the disturbing video below.

Government needs to be severely restricted or it will inevitably crush liberties and rights. The Founding Fathers and the Irish freedom fighters understood that. When did America and Europe forget those truths?
