Democrat state Sen. Letiticia Van de Putte has got to learn when to hold ’em, and when to fold ’em.
Van de Putte released three years of her tax returns on Friday. She and her husband made a combined income of between $143,000 to $184,000 during those years, mainly from the family flag business, Dixie Flag Manufacturing Company.
According to the returns, a sizable amount of the family’s income has gone to paying off gambling losses.
According to tax returns released Friday, Van de Putte and her husband lost a total of $10,000 gambling in Las Vegas in 2011 and 2012.
Van de Putte is the Democrats’ nominee for Texas lieutenant governor. She or whoever is throwing down 10 g’s on keeping Vegas happy has every right to do so. But the commercials for whichever Republican wins the lt gov runoff practically write themselves: “Don’t gamble on Texas’ future with Leticia Van de Putte” etc.
More: I just noticed this line regarding Van de Putte’s tax returns:
They also reported about $42,500 in royalties from XTO Energy, a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corp. that specializes in fracking, for the three-year period.
The Democrat anti-fracking base is not going to like that one bit.
