I never even got around to blogging about this yesterday. It was just one among a few outrages I was tracking, notably the stealth amnesty that the Houston Chronicle uncovered. Thankfully, a day later, the Obama admin put this one on ice.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has decided against using “mystery shoppers” to investigate whether primary care physicians are accepting or rejecting new patients depending on the type of insurance they have.
“After reviewing feedback received during the public comment period, we have determined that now is not the time to move forward with this research project,” an HHS official said in a statement.
The feedback line is ironic, given that this program was an offshoot of ObamaCare, which the Democrats passed without caring much at all what sort of feedback they were getting at the time. This suggests that the feedback the O bunch got over the past 24 hours about this program was particularly intense, and came from a direction other than the Tea Party — doctors and hospitals, probably, who collectively resented the program’s implications and weren’t shy about letting the administration know all about it.
At any rate, re-elect this president to four more years and this thing will come back, guaranteed. Turning the HHS into a Hoover-era FBI snoop program is no problem if it’s done in the service of fundamentally transforming America into a worker’s paradise. Don’t those always have excellent health care? Michael Moore assures us that they do.
