The White House just found a way to spend $2 billion more of your money while telling you that it’s doing something to help small businesses get going. So here’s Austan Goolsbee, chairman of the president’s economic advice team, to sell it (while having trouble figuring out where his secondary camera is). Remember, every dollar he touts as a “bridge” over the “Valley of Death” is a dollar that came from taxpayer pockets, individuals, families and companies. The government removed those dollars from the economy and now wants to tell you that it’s doing you a favor by putting them back in. As for the Valley of Death, that IS the government, in the form of onerous regulation and liberal idiocies like ObamaCare that make it harder to start a business in the first place. But don’t worry, Goolsbee implies that business that dive into the administration’s scheme can get some sort of special dispensation to deal with government regulation. That sounds like an expansion of the corrupt ObamaCare waivers. If you like government picking winners and losers by fiat, Austan Goolsbee is your man.
Aping old UPS ads to sell this little boondoggle is just icing on the cake.
