Last night Clarice posted about Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee’s very creative interpretation of the Constitution to defend ObamaCare. Well, she’s out with another bite at that apple, managing to work an impressive amount of fail into her thinking. The most prominent elected Democrat in the state of Texas, a graduate of Yale no less, sincerely believes that the Constitution’s “equal protection” clause has to do with health care. It, of course, doesn’t — the “equal protection” clause of the 14th amendment guarantees equal application of laws by government. It has nothing to do with privately held goods or services. And at about 4 minutes into this video, she mistakes the Declaration of Independence’s “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” phrase with the preamble to the Constitution. Which, of course, doesn’t say that at all.
This would be funnier if Texas’ top Democrat wasn’t on the House Judiciary Committee.
