As President Obama signed another executive order extending sanctions to additional Russian officials, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced its own list of sanctioned people:
We’ll assume that they meant Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) instead of Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.).
Senators included on the list were happy to be there.
“President Putin’s military invasion and annexation of Crimea is brutal, totally unacceptable, and sadly returns us to a period of Cold War aggression and hostility,” said Menendez, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee. “It doesn’t have to be this way, but if standing up for the Ukrainian people, their freedom, their hard earned democracy, and sovereignty means I’m sanctioned by Putin, so be it.”
I’m proud to be sanctioned by Putin – I’ll never cease my efforts & dedication to freedom & independence of #Ukraine, which includes #Crimea

While I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to go on vacation with my family in Siberia this summer, I am honored to be on this list — Senator Dan Coats (@SenDanCoats) March 20, 2014
Proud to be included on a list of those willing to stand against Putin’s aggression http://t.co/AL67mauKqq

Reid just retweeted his colleague:
If standing up for #democracy & sovereignty in #Ukraine means I’m #SanctionedByPutin, I’ll take it.
