The FBI is investigating a Michigan tie to the July 2012 Bulgarian bus bombing that killed five Israeli tourists and the Bulgarian bus driver.
The Bureau said it is assisting the Republic of Bulgaria’s Ministry of Interior in its investigation of this bombing, and is seeking information on suspects Hassan El Hajj Hassan and Meliad Farah, wanted for questioning in the attack.
Two fake Michigan driver’s licenses were found in connection with the attack: one bearing the name Jacque Felipe Martin, which was found at the scene of the bombing, and another license along with a Social Security card with the name Ralph William Rico found days after the attack.
Hassan reportedly used the Rico identification, while Farah used a Michigan driver’s license with the name Brian Jeremiah Jameson.
For three weeks before the attack, Hassan and Rico were staying near Burgas with their U.S. IDs. The FBI is trying to track down the source of the fake IDs.
Hassan has dual Lebanese and Canadian citizenship, while Farah has dual Lebanese and Australian citizenship. Both speak English and Arabic.
The third suspect, killed in the bombing, hasn’t been identified. He was carrying the explosive to the bus where it was remotely detonated.
Hezbollah reportedly wired nearly $100,000 to Hassan and Farrah shortly before the attack.
