One congressman won’t be able to attend the Republican National Convention after taking a nasty fall that required surgery.
Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) was greeting constituents at a community event in Butler, Wis., yesterday when he “caught his foot on wires, tripped, and fell,” according to a statement from his office.
The 69-year-old congressman suffered two bone fractures, one near his elbow and another at the hip socket. He underwent orthopaedic hip surgery today.
“According to his surgeon, the Congressman is doing very well and is resting comfortably at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, WI,” Sensenbrenner’s office said. “As a result, Congressman and Cheryl Sensenbrenner will be unable to attend the Republican National Convention in Tampa. He will now embark on recovery and looks forward to returning to his congressional duties as soon as possible.”
