(Buckhead, GA) — Erick Erickson just told hundreds of conservative activists at RedState Gathering that he has “disinvited” Donald Trump from the event over Trump’s remarks on CNN that implied Fox News reporter Megyn Kelly was tough on him because he was having her period.

Here’s the Trump quote in answer to Don Lemon’s question about his clash with Kelly at this week’s GOP debate in Cleveland:

You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.

When he first announced the program change a subsection of the crowd booed Erickson’s decision, but most clapped. He said he had given Trump a lot of latitude since he’s not a politician, but this went too far. He recounted that he called Trump’s campaign but they would neither apologize nor even acknowledge Trump said anything wrong. After the disinvitation, Trump called Erickson a weak leader. But the Red State leaders stood firm.

“I don’t want my daughters in the room with Donald Trump tonight, so he’s not invited,” Erickson said to applause.
