Will the Met's New Director Hold Off the Cultural Barbarians?

Philippe de Montebello, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s director since 1977 and a defender of high artistic standards, will retire at the end of 2008. Will the museum’s next head follow in his footsteps, or open the floodgates of politically correct, ready-made outrage art? Based on the current short list, PajamasXpress blogger Roger Kimball is less than sanguine.
