Swamp think tank goon: Concern over controlled demolition of American manufacturing is a ‘fetish’ for the benefit of ‘white males of low education’
President of the Peterson Institute for International Economics Adam Posen recently declared at a CATO Institute summit that concern over the erosion of manufacturing in the United States is a “fetish” — specifically, a fetish for “white males of low education [subtext: literal Satan].”
No one cared about the displacement of jobs typically held by single women and BIPOC workers, he argues, over the '70s and '80s; it was only when the manufacturing jobs went south, affecting white males, that anyone took notice:
The fetish for manufacturing is part of the general fetish for keeping white males of low education outside the cities in the powerful positions they’re in in the U.S. And that is really what’s going on here… When it started being the white male manufacturing people in the so-called heartland [being displaced], then suddenly this was a crisis.

Of course, the claim that the economic elite have a “fetish” for serving uneducated white males in Appalachia is absurd on its face for anyone who has spent any time on Earth and paid a modicum of attention to the trajectory of identity politics in the 21st century.
If they have a fetish for anything regarding this demographic, it’s ritualistically abusing them — getting them addicted to prescription opiates and then fentanyl, depicting them as misogynistic racist morons in mainstream media, stoking mass pogroms against them in the form of #MeToo, BLM, systematically excluding them from high-paying careers in tech and other industries, etc.

Also, uneducated white males in the “so-called heartland,” as he so derisively calls it, are by definition not in “powerful positions.”
If they were in “powerful positions,” they wouldn’t have outsourced their own economic lifelines to Mexico and China so that NIKE shareholders could make an extra buck off of Indonesian sweatshop labor.
No, it was degenerate scumbags like Adam Posen who did the offshoring — and then, just to smear salt in the wound, stomp on their faces for good measure at fancy CATO Institute conferences, seated next to his Indian comrade named Arvind Panagariya as he denounces them for their racism and sexism.
Fun fact: the esteemed Indian panelist seated next to Posen as he delivers his demagoguing sermon about uneducated white men and why they deserve poverty, Arvind Panagariya, has spent his entire career working for the likes of the:
