The prime directive of the COVID era — superseding every other countervailing force, including common sense and common decency — for the virtuous liberal was that when an emissary of the CDC (or NIH, or FDA) spoke His commandments into the ether, it was as if God Himself had spoken.
Saint Fauci, you may recall, went as far as to declare himself the physical embodiment of The Science™, magnanimously rendering himself immune from criticism over the consequences of the disastrous policies that he forced on America and that he later pretended he had nothing to do with.

However, times have changed, in that the Respect the Science™ people seem to have suddenly lost their deeply held faith in the sacred institution of Public Health™. This oddly coincides with a rollback in the number of vaccines it recommends pumping into American children as a quasi-religious ritual under the Trump and RFK Jr. administration.
As Catherine Salgado reported the other day, President Trump and Health and Human Services Secretary Kennedy recently released an executive order reducing the number of diseases for which the government recommends childhood vaccination to 11 from 18. The order also reiterates ultimate parental authority over decisions to vaccinate.
In response, various industry front groups, in one voice, united in a chorus of condemnation, and pharma-funded politicians, like disgraced and recently defeated anti-MAHA Sen. Bill Cassidy, came out in full force against the changes.

The executive order’s effect on pediatricians’ offices may be limited, though. State health departments, not the federal government, dictate school vaccine mandates and vaccination schedules…
For instance, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in January recommended reducing the number of vaccines recommended to all children to 11, down from 17 in 2024…
But more than two dozen states and the District of Columbia have rejected the new CDC vaccine recommendations, with most of those following guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics instead…
Public health experts worry that splitting up childhood vaccinations across multiple visits will make it difficult for children to receive the dozens of vaccine doses recommended in their first 18 years. Pediatricians now typically administer multiple vaccines per visit.
“This executive order is part of a troubling pattern by the administration to attempt to unilaterally change vaccine guidance, particularly for children, rather than relying on the transparent, scientific review,” said Jan Carney, president of the American College of Physicians.
Harold Wimmer, president and CEO of the American Lung Association, said the policy could exacerbate already growing childhood vaccination gaps and lead to increased pediatric deaths. He noted that measles cases are currently at a 35-year high in the United States and that the U.S. saw a record number of pediatric flu deaths during the 2024-25 respiratory virus season since they started being reported in 2004. Both diseases are vaccine-preventable.

Unmentioned in that little CNN propaganda production meant to terrorize parents into ignoring the executive order, of course, was that the list of corporate AAP sponsors includes the likes of Merck, Pfizer, Moderna, etc. — coincidentally, a veritable Who's Who of vaccine manufacturers and purveyors of various other pharmaceutical products pushed on kids.
All of the above forces one to ponder whether, all along, Respect the Science™ wasn’t just a catchy corporate jingle Brought to You By Pfizer™ to cynically neutralize vaccine skepticism.
