Shiloh Hendrix found guilty of disorderly conduct over racial slur
You might recall a viral incident in a Rochester, Minn., park last year that prompted a nationwide Social Justice™ outrage similar to, but not on the scale of, George Floyd’s unfortunate fentanyl overdose.
The short version of events is that a white woman, Shiloh Hendrix, called a Somali kid who was stealing from her a racial slur.
A Somali migrant, Sharmake Omar, then began filming and harassing her while she held her baby.

Omar insisted she repeat the slur, which Hendrix obliged, this time directed at him.

Rochester police subsequently charged Hendrix with two counts of disorderly conduct, which she took to trial.
Thursday night we got the result.

Late Thursday night, a Rochester jury split the verdicts in a disorderly conduct case involving a woman who used a racial slur toward a Black child last year.
The jury of six people took around nine hours to return the verdict Thursday, July 23, 2026, in Olmsted County District Court in the case against Shiloh Hendrix.
Hendrix, 37, was caught on video in the aftermath of using a racial slur against the child and his father, who are both Somali, and a person recording the incident. A jury of two men and four women found her guilty of one of two counts of disorderly conduct and not guilty on the other.
Hendrix was given a fine of $1,000 and sentenced to one year of probation, 200 hours of community work, and 90 days in jail which will be stayed if she complies with terms of her probation
The count the jury found her guilty of related specifically to her conduct in a video recorded in the aftermath of her confrontation with a Somali child who took something from her bag* and the child’s father. The jury began deliberations at 1 p.m. Thursday and returned their verdict shortly after 10:30 p.m…
Following the verdict, Wale Elegbede, president of the Rochester chapter of the NAACP, called the verdict a “mixed result” that was ultimately disappointing. He said he wanted to see Hendrix get jail time in the wake of her lack of remorse and fundraising windfall she received in the aftermath of the incident.
* “Taking something from her bag” without permission is a nice euphemism for “stealing” — more on that in a moment.

While most people surely wouldn’t condone directing racial epithets at children, I’ve identified what I believe to be several mitigating and/or exonerating factors for Ms. Shiloh’s behavior:
- First of all, there’s this quaint little thing called the First Amendment that protects uncouth speech with very narrow exceptions, such as incitement to violence. I am aware that the Somalis who have colonized Minnesota don’t know or care what the Constitution says, but legacy Americans, at least some of them, still cling bitterly to America’s founding document.
- The kid was actually stealing. Hendrix claimed he was rummaging through her bag, pilfering items, while the Somali who filmed the confrontation claimed the child stole Hendrix’s applesauce container off a bench. Either way, the kid was thieving. If the natives of Minnesota must tolerate the Somali squatters for some masochistic reason, the least they could do is teach their children that, while it might be common practice in Mogadishu, in America, stealing people’s property in public parks is illegal.
- Most germane to this series, The Great Replacement Chronicles, the entire incident could have been avoided if the Somalis hadn’t invaded Minnesota, aided and abetted by the federal, state, and local government
