Adventures in the Patriarchy™: Anti-ICE Karens Gone Wild! Part V

Chronicling the ongoing intersectional struggle to liberate women — inclusively defined as the legacy kind and the transgender individuals — from the Patriarchy™, one microaggression at a time.

Anti-ICE Karens role-play as oppressed dystopian science fiction characters

As if the protests weren’t already melodramatic enough, a handful of anti-ICE Karens decided to crank the crazy up to 12 and showed up in full-on “The Handmaid’s Tale” regalia.

You are probably familiar with the general contours of “The Handmaid’s Tale” narrative, but here’s a synopsis  via Wikipedia (emphasis added):

After staging an attack killing the President of the United States and most of United States Congress, a radical political group called the "Sons of Jacob" uses theonomic ideology to launch a revolution. The Constitution of the United States is suspended, newspapers are censored, and the United States is reformed into a military dictatorship known as the Republic of Gilead. The new regime quickly consolidates its power, overtaking all other religious groups, including Christian denominations.

The regime reorganizes society using a peculiar interpretation of some Old Testament ideas, and a new militarized, hierarchical model of social and religious theonomy is established among its new social classes. One of the most significant changes is the limitation of women's rights. Women are relegated to the lowest-ranking class and are denied the right to own property, read, and write. Women are deprived of control over their reproductive functions.

A rhetorical question one could be forgiven for asking: What does any of this have to do with the illegal aliens ICE is trying to deport?

If you asked them what they’re hoping to convey with their performance, they’d feign concern for the plight of illegal immigrants and rattle off some vague talking points about melting pot theory and white supremacy they picked up from MSNOW.

In reality, though, as evidenced by the great lengths they go to in their play-acting, their motivations are lighter on the lofty idealism and heavier on the Fifty-Shades-of-Grey-style pseudo-sexual fantasy.

The fetishization of the alleged oppression that these pampered middle-class white women experience is a psychosexual Pandora’s box that I’m not sure any of us is truly prepared, or equipped, to open.

…And out come the clippers

In keeping with their tradition of fashioning political statements out of their hair, female and female-adjacent alphabet Social Justice™ people are well-documented to have a penchant for shaving their heads as a form of protest in response to whatever fashionable injustice of the day.

Historically, bald women have been either cancer patients or else been afflicted with some psychological issues that they try to work out through self-expression as a cry for help sort of thing. In the modern era, though, it’s equally plausible they’re intersectional feminists upset about government policy.

I’m not sure what symbolism the act is supposed to convey, aside from the fact that it’s a drastic reaction that’s going to get a lot of attention.

Are the white supremacist misogynistic men of the world supposed to suddenly have an epiphany because some bimbo on TikTok shaved her head in protest?

Is it meant to deprive them of the pleasure of beholding this woman’s beauty as a consequence for their bad behavior?

Are they meant to feel guilty for driving her to the brink of insanity with their oppression of illegal immigrants?

I genuinely don’t understand the connection that this lady is trying to draw between deporting illegal immigrants and her shaving her head.

You’ll take note that this woman, who wants you to believe she’s so invested in the life and death of her comrade in Minnesota, Renee Good, refers to her as “Renee Cook” in her stupid TikTok caption, proving this is all a deeply narcissistic ploy, cloaking their desperate need for attention in the veneer of empathy.

This is about them.

The problem vexing the anti-ICE Karens, of course, is that the market is so saturated with standard videos of Karens crying into the camera about white supremacy or fascism or whatever and screaming at ICE officers that, if they are to garner the attention they so crave, they’re going to have to up the ante considerably.

Which probably means more shocking and/or violent content is in the offing.
