I follow the emanations from the White House communications (propaganda) department so you don’t have to, on the off-chance that something substantiative comes out of it, which rarely happens, as KJP typically just reads pre-canned talking points from her binder (poorly) verbatim irrespective of whatever question was actually asked, which is usually a softball from friendly so-called “journalists” in the handpicked and highly vetted press pool anyway.

More often than actual newsworthy comments from KJP, we get the brutal mangling of the English language at her diverse hands.
Proponents who explicitly champion DEI often claim DEI hiring is a myth, yet behold the embodiment of DEI herself, KJP, hard at work trying her best to read her talking points — she being an alleged communications expert — in the context of a prisoner exchange deal that went down the other day with Russia to release a few political prisoners/hostages in exchange for some hardcore Russian dudes held in U.S. custody.

MS. JEAN-PIERRE: All right. As — as I mentioned at the top, this is an incredibly important day, a
monumentous[momentous] day, and also an emotional day for the families, obviously; for the incredible team that I get to work with every day — the national security team; and across the administration and for this president. And so, it’s a good day. It’s a really, really good day. And we should be really proud of what this administration has been able to do.
(As a side note, I’m not sure how these swaps disincentivize adversaries from arresting Americans on dubious grounds and then holding them as bargaining chips in the future, but that’s a different topic for another time.)
What it seems happened, bless her heart, is that Karine got two words too big for her britches — “momentous” and “monumental” — which she probably was forced to memorize during some struggle session with her handlers, mixed up.
I’m not opposed to making up words — I do it all the time, actually — but, based on everything we know about Karine’s poor reading comprehension, there’s nothing to suggest this was a bit of linguistic engineering on her part and not her being totally out of her depth as a communications expert.
Wrapping up the press conference, Karine deployed her non-word once again:
MS. JEAN-PIERRE: — you have to understand this is a critical — as these things are moving, it is important. Our main focus is to make sure that we get these Americans home safely.
I would — I would hope as a journalist you understand that. It is important that they get home safely. That is our number-one priority — number-one priority.
And now that they are on their way home — the families were here — the families, the president, and the vice president will get to greet these Americans when they land here tonight. This is a huge, huge, monumentous[momentous] day — emotional day. And it is important. That is our goal, to make sure that they get home safely.
All right. Thanks, everybody.
Thanks, Karine! You did great. Have a cookie.
