The totalitarians of tomorrow will look nothing like the jackbooted thugs of the 20th century, goose-stepping in all of their toxically masculine glory amid a parade of polished missiles and throngs of bloodthirsty, nationalistic onlookers cheering the Fatherland to eternal glory.
They will look like this lady, Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, the bespectacled feminine version of the nerdy psychopath Bill Gates, justifying their condemnable despotism under the guise of human rights and technological convenience.
"There will be control."

President of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, admits the EU's new CBDC—the digital euro—will be used to impose control.

It somehow slipped my notice that, many years ago, France outlawed cash transactions in excess of 1,000 Euros, punishable by criminal penalties.
Via Reuters (emphasis added):
From September onwards, people who live in France will not be allowed to make payments of more than 1,000 euros ($1,060) in cash, down from 3,000 now. The cap for foreign visitors, left higher for reasons that include facilitating tourism, will be cut to 10,000 euros from 15,000.
Any cash deposit or withdrawal of more than 10,000 euros over a single month will be automatically signaled to the Tracfin anti-fraud and money laundering agency.
The authorities will have to be notified over transfers of more than 10,000 euros - for instance cheques, pre-paid cards or gold - by freight within the European Union.
Someone changing more than 1,000 euros in cash into another currency will have to show an identity card, down from a previous threshold of 8,000 euros.
Lagarde here, discussing the “electronic Euro” (a form of central bank digital currency, or CBDC), benevolently floats the possibility of allowing the slaves to conduct transactions using digital Euros in amounts up to 400 Euros — but, even so, remains uncomfortable because of something called “terrorism.”

Anyone who appeals to fighting “terrorism” as a pretext for clamping down on the very basic freedom of conducting a 100-Euro purchase without reporting their activities to the government should be an automatic no-go for anyone with half a brain at this point. They have declared themselves an enemy of the people and should be dealt with accordingly.
The reason that creatures of the state like Lagarde are permitted to get away with their treachery is simply that the people of the EU have allowed them to. They will gobble up whatever authority they can; it’s that simple.
You can never compromise with these people or grant them the benefit of the doubt. They are snakes in the grass — liars who are proven to be liars in spades, again and again. And yet they continue to go to the “fighting terrorism” well because they apparently think a large enough segment of the population is stupid enough to be convinced by it.
This admonition goes not just for NPC libs who intrinsically trust their overlords but also for conservatives — or, more appropriately, self-identified, alleged conservatives — who historically have been among the most susceptible to the “give me all of your freedoms because terrorism” appeal.
