Six Years Ago, the Left Told Boys They Were Toxic. What Did They Think Would Happen?

When Donald Trump won the presidency in 2016, the left (and some of the right) lost their ever-loving minds. They proceeded to convulse American society with multiple attempts to abort the outsider from the White House and, indeed, from public life altogether. I won’t run down all the criminal politicizations of institutions they committed in their efforts, but I will remind you that among their cultural efforts was the so-called #MeToo movement.

To my mind, #MeToo always seemed like a calculated effort by the left to normalize the expulsion of any man who had ever harassed or abused a woman, which would naturally include President Trump, who had been caught on tape talking about grabbing women by the you-know-what. This October-surprise recording was supposed to be a disqualifier from office (because, having no sense of humor themselves, the "Resistance" could not comprehend that Trump was joking, not confessing). And so, they cheerfully sacrificed some on their own side, including Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein and then-Minnesota Sen. Al Franken, as they contorted the culture to stamp out "toxic masculinity" and sexual abusers.

Spoiler alert: Like all the others, this effort failed to dislodge the loathed orange man from his duly and rightfully elected office. But in the throes of the #MeToo crucible, hysterical women and their neutered men summarily flushed an entire generation of boys and young men down the toilet.

“We must purge men and boys of toxic masculinity!” they cried. They also assured boys that they had no future: “The future is female,” they brayed. And they set to work, making sure that all the opportunities and awards went to girls, in academia and the business world.

The disgraceful moment was epitomized by the odious 2019 Gillette advertising campaign, “We Believe”:

All that time they were demonizing manliness, what did the left imagine would become of these nascent men whom they were demoralizing and disenfranchising? Now we know, as we countenance increasing mental illness, street violence, and lone-wolf violence.

In an excellent column in the Boston Herald, veteran reporter Peter Lucas laments that the “lost boys” of America are leading the "epidemic of violence.” He notes, “The sad irony of the Charlie Kirk assassination is that it was allegedly accomplished by one of the  ‘lost boys’ of America he was trying to save.”

He is Tyler Robinson, 22, who police have charged with Kirk’s murder.

Part of Charlie Kirk’s mission through Turning Point USA was to save lost, lonely, resentful and vulnerable young men like the one who was charged with killing him.

Robinson, a radicalized college dropout, is one of the lost boys in their early twenties who, filled with hate spread over the internet, have become disengaged from society, out of work, out of education, out of hope.

Lucas went on to list some other recent young, male vipers who’ve fledged from the left's nihilistic nest of hopelessness. He mentioned 23-year-old Hunter Nadeau, who [allegedly] shot up the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, N.H., last week; Luigi Mangione, 26, who is awaiting trial and legal disposition for [allegedly] murdering UnitedHealthcare executive Bryan Thompson, stalking and shooting him in the back with 9mm pistol last December; and Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, who fired off several shots at past-and-future President Donald Trump in Butler, Pa., during the 2024 campaign.

Several more lost boys have committed heinous attacks since just then, as the bloodshed seems to spiral.

The “lost boys” appear to follow a pattern. They live with or off their parents. They do not work or have fulfilling and meaningful jobs. They do not marry. They have no children. They have no friends.

They live meaningless lonely lives and assuage their loneliness by searching for the dark sites on the internet, of which there are many.

When they come up for air after scouring the sewer sites on the internet, they hear hateful politicians, mostly crazed Democrats, accuse President Trump of being Hitler and his supporters Nazis.

Brainwashed, they feel compelled to do something, anything. So, they act. And even when they kill, or try to, they do it alone, like the ICE-hating loner Joshua John, 29, did at the ICE detention center in Dallas last week.

Did the feminists and social scientists of Big Left pause to consider whether there might be detrimental side effects when they decided to throw away a generation of boys and young men? No matter. Either way, progressives must be thrilled with the results. Their zombies are having open season on Christians and conservatives, so they get to kill us, which is always nice for them. And if it goes on long enough, they may be able to terrorize a critical mass of civilians into forcing extreme gun control measures, overriding our very Constitution.

It's a win-win for them either way.
