This week’s World’s Smallest Violin Award goes to Fake News Network CNN — specifically to be shared between Fake Newsman Jake Tapper and Fake Newsman Chris Cuomo, both of whom took whiny umbrage at being called Fake News while purveying Fake News.
Cuomo, who really needs to eat more brain food, even possibly more brains, said that being called Fake News while purveying Fake News is like being called the N-word. He later apologized, but not enough. He should have added banging his head repeatedly against a wall while saying, “Stupid, stupid, stupid,” over and over again.
As for Tapper, he harried and berated a largely conciliatory presidential spokeswoman, Kellyanne Conway, for almost half an hour about how hard it is out there for a Fake Newsman to always be called a Fake Newsman while being Fake. “When it comes to the Trump administration,” Tapper whined, “I would much rather be covering immigration, I would much rather be covering trade, and I would much rather be covering draining the swamp, and counter-terrorism, but instead, every day, there are these sprays of attack and sprays of falsehoods, coming from the White House. It would be better if they were not coming from the White House — for me and for you.” Anyway, I think that’s what he said, though it was tough to hear him over the screeching of the teensy-tiny little itsty-bitty violin playing in the background throughout.
The problem is this: CNN — like the New York Times, like the network news departments at NBC and ABC and CBS — is virtually the definition of Fake News, a phrase made up by the left to attack Trump but which blew up in their faces like a trick cigar when it turned out everyone knows what liars they’ve been for the past sixteen years at least.
This is not even a question of the almost ceaseless series of mistakes, distortions and obfuscations that our leftist news media, in their hysterical rage against political reality, have committed since the election of Donald Trump to the presidency. These errors and lies — which include cover-ups of Islamic extremism, lies about right-wing websites, and suspiciously incendiary “mistakes” about the White House — are being ably catalogued by the mighty and terrible John Nolte over at the Daily Wire.
No, this is a matter of the laughably slanted Fake News emphasis since at least the George W. Bush administration and through Obama’s. This Fake News emphasis made major scandals out of Bush’s kerfuffles like the Valerie Plame affair; blamed him for what was never his fault, like intelligence failures in Iraq, gas prices, and the fact that a century of Democrat corruption in New Orleans turned a hurricane into a full-fledged disaster; and skewed stories to play down conservative truths like the danger of Islam, the unfairness of illegal immigrationm and the tragic results of decades of leftist attacks on white males. This is not even to mention the vicious and continual slander of the Tea Party movement as racist and the ennobling of the disgusting, anti-semitic, and violent Occupy movement as an American “Arab Spring.”
Conversely, this Fake News emphasis played down the abject failures of the Obama administration, including its sometimes fatal dishonesty and malfeasance. The criminal mis-use of the IRS to silence conservative political opposition, the fatally dangerous Fast and Furious affair, the silencing and intimidation of journalists, the lies about Benghazi — all these received nowhere near the coverage and nowhere as prolonged coverage as any and every minor dropped ball by Bush and other Republicans. When journalists repeatedly claimed that the Obama administration was scandal-free, they proved they’d been watching their own Fake News.
According to one count, seven percent of American journalists are Republican. Bubble life, bias confirmation, and radicalization of journalistic left-wingery are the norm. Chris, Jake, CNN — you and your network are the personifications of that dishonesty. You deserve every thump that Trump and his people can give you.
