Westward Shift Halts; Northeast Gulf at Risk

The westward shift in Isaac’s forecast track seems to have halted for now, and the northeastern Gulf — somewhere between Mississippi and the Florida panhandle — is presently looking like the most likely landfall target. Probably not New Orleans; probably not Tampa (though neither can be ruled out yet). Future intensity is still very hard to determine. Stay tuned; the 11am Eastern Time NHC advisory and discussion will be out soon.
