SQUIRREL

If ObamaCare were working, they’d be touting that instead of trying this.

"Democrats Turn to Minimum Wage as 2014 Strategy"

Remember when the Democrats made Sandra Fluke's hoo-ha the 2012 strategy? How we all laughed. ::sigh::

$7.25/hr + earned income credits + "free" Obamacare. Pretty soon you are talking about real money.

Why am I getting flashbacks to the '68 Democratic Convention? This has all the makings of far left rantings by stupid crybabies who are very disconnected from society and economics. It's going to fail so hard for them it's not funny.

This strategy ignores the actual situation on the ground; unemployment isn't going away, the Feds squandered the stimulus, and Obamacare is the primary force driving unemployment and the stagnated economy. The public knows this. NONE of this "living wage" bull-crap has any impact on the situation on the ground. As Mr. Green pointed out, it's a SQUIRREL strategy designed to push the GOP into defending the evil OCP corporate America, and somehow, getting the support of young voters who think jobs grow on trees.

Best part of this? The Democrats have NO IDEA how to enact any of this. It's just verbal diarrhea designed to distract.

Forgive me, but the public does NOT know this. Few people follow the issues, and as the song goes, "I just read the Daily News and swear by every word." Most people I talk to do blame "the rich" and the GOP for "taking more than their fair share." The Leftist strategy is working swimmingly: Create more desperate poor, fill the toolbox with 'em, and sic 'em on not "the rich," but the small-business and local professional class. It's worked everywhere it's been tried, at least for a time, and to the benefit of the political class and the eneMedia. Every time.

So, then how come Obamacare is doing really badly in the pools?

And how come these "income inequality" ideas don't resonate with actual voters? Oh, how's Occupy Wall Street doing, these days?

This is an attempt for the left to build up their own base AND at the same time SQUIRREL away the Obamacare problems. But the thing is, is that no one will pay attention to the car that's on fire when the entire neighborhood next door is engulfed in flames. That's the Obamacare nexus.

Also, while I'm at it, these are the same people who gave us pajamaboy. They're operating on tone deaf political strategies, still thinking it's 1968 and 2008. They've lost millenials and aren't getting them back with this.

In this case, it's not even tax money.

"Income Inequality" makes me crazed.

We live in an age of entitlement, where most with a high school degree are un-hireable for most starter jobs. Can't show up on time, pass a drug test, dress properly, or communicate.

In the past when I've interviewed tech trainees, I'd go through a dozen losers to keep one.

This is utter nonsense. Want to make more? Work for it. Most people in that "privileged" working class did.

Ever been to the UK, to a pub? Guess what they don't have?

Wait staff, mostly. You have to order at the bar.

On Strike? Can't live at $7.25/hr?
GET.ANOTHER.JOB.

Enroll in one of the myriad training programs that our tax dollars pay for and get another friggin job.

The problem is that too many people think that the $7.25 an hour job is designed for a living wage. It's not- it's designed for a working wage while income is subsidized or supplanted elsewhere. For instance, I had a part-time job while I was finishing up high school and going to Community College. Was it enough to get me a car and buy me some things? Sure. Was it meant to ever cover my living expenses (house, utilities, medical, etc)? Nope. Parents provided that.

Also, my parents are now semi-retired, and work part time jobs to make a little extra money. They have pensions and are about to get social security. They aren't expecting a living wage- they're expecting a working wage.

Therein lies the difference. Liberals can't understand that income inequality is the basis of every culture and economic system.

That would require a degree of personal responsibility and an envrionment that fosters success.

Much easier to be a victim and whine about how unfair it all is.

If I owned the Wendy's or any other fast food place with striking workers, I would have a large poster printed out showing a robot flipping burgers and I would have it displayed on the building.

I would just go out to the strikers and tell them I was doubling wages. As soon as they told me which half of the workforce I was laying off.
