“He Knew”
October 24th, 2012 - 9:27 am
You’ve probably read by now the leaked emails showing that just two hours after the Benghazi attack, the White House knew an al Qaeda-affiliated group had taken credit.
So why the coverup? Why the lame attempt to blame it on a video, the producer of which is still in jail? Why send Susan Rice out on five Sunday shows in one morning to plead ignorance?
Simple.
It’s hard to do victory laps around al Qaeda while al Qaeda is running victory laps around the smoldering remains of our consulate.

The attack was underway for 7 hours. The attackers were successful because the defenders simply ran out of ammo.
NAS Sigonella is 1 hour flight time away. There was a Predator Drone overhead during the attack, I have to think that Sigonella was where the drone flight originated.
Someone had to approve that flight. Someone thought that Benghazi was worthy of watching but wasn’t worthy of providing cover.
Even worse than this seems to be the lie on sequestration revealed by the release of the Des Moines Register interview transcript. In the last debate, President Obama said that the sequestration would NOT happen, but… in the interview transcript he refers to the budget situation in 2013 AFTER sequestration had taken place. As a commenter elsewhere put it, “This is almost too easy.”
Gee, a leaked email? I wonder who could have leaked such a thing…
Is State on the distribution list?
The White House is still defending their early stance, saying they didn’t take the e-mails seriously compared to what the intelligence community was telling them. Seriously?
1) The intelligence community did not, in fact, tell them it was a spontaneous event. They’ve been pretty clear about this.
2) Common sense says it was not spontaneous. It also says that even if it was spontaneous, it was only partly so and the video was just a pretext for violence that people loosely had in mind already.
3) If you have the embassy itself telling you something that contradicts with the intelligence reports, by definition that’s conflicting information and therefore blaming a spontaneous protest before you’ve sorted out the facts is extremely premature. You might even say the White House “acted stupidly” in jumping to conclusions. Again.
4) All evidence says that even if the WH wasn’t sure what to think within a few hours of the attack, they certainly had the full story within 24. Susan Rice was sent around to the talk shows four days after the event, to peddle a story that the administration knew was wrong by that point.
Two things strike me as really weird about this story though. The e-mails that show the White House situation room was in the loop were leaked to the press by anonymous sources. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out which insider, and by extension their staff and their entire department, benefits the most from the leak. But it’s also interesting that the press ran with it at all, which suggests they either know something about the source, or the source is an expert on how to push them into reporting a story through fear of a scoop.
“Mr. President, what was Ambassador Stevens doing in Benghazi the day he was murdered and why is Nakoula Basseley Nakoula being held in federal custody?”
If Gov. Romney were to ask those two simple questions at a campaign stop today or tomorrow the press would be forced to report it. The fallout might very well bring the Obama presidency to a complete end.
Do it, sir. Do it.
They did NOT go out for two weeks and say they were getting “conflicting” information, they went out for two weeks and BLAMED THE VIDEO.
They NEVER ONCE said that it was al Qaeda, or that an al Qaeda flag was raised ON OUR SOIL.
They never once talked about the chants “Obama, Obama, we are all Osamas” THAT chant…never once uttered a word about any video.
Obama knew. Hillary knew. Susan Rice knew.
As someone from Chicago might have said (Mike Ditka)…Who are you crappin’?
Are they showing Obama killed Osama movie?
