An Open Letter
Dear Mr. Obama,
I hope you’ll forgive me for not using your proper title. Problem is, I respect the office too much to say the things that must be said, to address them to the president. So an unadorned “Mr.” will have to do.
Word is, you told some of your donors — at a $35,800-a-plate dinner — that you might need a second term to re-fix health care.
Really? Is that really what you want to do with a second term? You want to revisit that legislation? Legislation so unwanted, it caused Massachusetts voters to install a happily married Republican in Ted Kennedy’s old seat? Legislation so unpopular that the fledging Tea Party — an organization so inexperienced it thought nominating Christine O’Donnell was a pretty good idea — managed to flip Congress by a near-historic margin?
Want to know how it got so bad?
Harry Reid cobbled your bill together in backroom deals with names like “the Cornhusker Kickback” and “the Louisiana Purchase.” Things got so bad on the House side, that Nancy Pelosi threatened — with that patronizing smile — to simply “deem” the Senate version passed: “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.” Remember that? And when challenged that the individual mandate might not be constitutional, Pelosi laughed and asked: “Are you serious? Are you serious?”
Yes, we are serious. So is the Supreme Court.
I want you to remember something else, Mr. Obama. Before Pelosi finally managed to manhandle the bill through her side of the Congress, the economy was picking up steam. At the end of 2009 and the start of 2010, we enjoyed months in a row of 250,000 new jobs or better. Seems like a long time ago, doesn’t it? Then you got your bill signed into law in March, and in April job creation fell off the cliff. GDP growth has declined, too. We’ve spent most of the last two years just kind of sputtering along the bottom.
And to revisit all that — that is your plan, if the Supreme Court overturns Obamacare?
Now, I realize that I’ve based this letter on second-hand reports from a fundraising event at which you first confiscated everybody’s cameras and cell phones. And I know Jay Carney was trotted out dutifully to deny everything. So maybe I shouldn’t get so worked up.
On the other hand, it does seem all of a piece, doesn’t it, Mr. Obama?

As always, VODKA ROCKS! (Both the Pundit and the adult beverage)!
“So we’ve got the growth part of it figured out — if we can get the green part of it actually figured out as well,” Clinton said yesterday in an address before Denmark’s Parliament.
I assume that she means the SCOTUS will do the dirty work so Obama can have it both ways.
Silly socialists always think they can plan the economy. Rather telling that the green industry has seen the most government planning nland performing so poorly.
I bow to the master
Don’t hold your breath.
You have outdone yuorself with this one Steve. Brilliant.
I just realized while reading your letter (a letter which by-the-way Obama will never read because he didn’t write it) that what we have had over the last 3+ years is absolute proof that a time machine will not be invented during Obama’s lifetime. If it had been (will be?, Douglas Adams was right, tense is complicated when discussing time travel) think of how many times we would have been treated to the sight of future-Obama materializing next to present-Obama, delivery a well deserved dope slap while saying “shut up dummy”, and disappearing into the vapor. That alone would have been worth a few billion of stimudollars.
Are you insuniating that Obama did not read Dreams of My Father and The Audacity of Hope? If you are, I’m with you. Helps explain the dog-eating thing.
And if this is true:
http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/301474/president-obama-shuns-lech-walesa-rory-cooper
that Dear Liar shunned Lech Walesa, then he deserves no respect.
Stephen, he won’t be reading this open letter. First, it wasn’t addressed to the Smartest and Most Amazing President Ever! Barack Obama, he never reads past the salutation if it’s not right. Second, you should have hacked into Andrew Sullivan’s feed, or Think Progress, or some other site he is likely to happen upon. Finally, he’s much too busy today to read it, he has six fundraisers to do. Phew, that’s exhausting!
Maybe you should have posted this on those other sites, with the correct salutation, on another day. But not on the weekend, please, there are games to watch on TV and a couple of holes of golf to get in.
Dear Steve
I read your letter (by mistake, I thought it was fan mail from OWS when I saw the Vodka reference), let me make one thing perfectly clear…I don’t care.
Now I mean that in the most sincere and honest way.
I didn’t care how it was passed. I didn’t care what it cost. I didn’t care who liked it. I didn’t care who it hurt. I didn’t care what bribes had to be bagged. I didn’t care what it did to the economy. I didn’t care how many jobs would be lost.
I didn’t care and I still don’t.
The Supreme Court really isn’t supreme in my mind. The Constitution doesn’t constitute anything in my mind. You are hopelessly tied to old school notions that have no place in the way in which I rule you. I’m your daddy. Elections have consequences. This next one will have some doozies.
Hope and change, Steve, hope and change. I hope you change. But, if you don’t, that’s ok. Because you don’t matter. What you think doesn’t matter. Nobody will hear you. My media will make sure of that.
When I patted Medevev’s knee and told him to tell Vladimir that my second term will be filled with wonderful surprises, you have no idea, Steve. Obamacare will be like child’s play.
And, who are you going to turn to when I do this, Steve? The DOJ?
Have another Vodka on me, Steve. You’re going to need it.
Sleep tight.
Cheers
BHO
We turn to God, that’s Who. We Catholics have outlasted far worse than Obama, and we’ll win this fight, too.
For Mr. Obama to make up for what he has already done to this country he would have to spend the rest of his life on his knees begging forgiveness. Mr. Obama it seems is much more adept at bowing than kneeling, I cannot help but feel that as he was bowing to our enemies he was simultaneously inviting the citizens of the United States of America to kiss his Democratic Posterior. On Jan 20 1981 I and my classmates at Camp MacKall on Ft. Bragg were awakened around 1am to the loudspeakers in the camp announcing that Ronald Regan had officially taken over the position of Commander in Chief of the Armed forces of the United States. In freezing temperatures every one of us got out of his sleeping bag and left our tar-paper shacks and were yelling and screaming, beating on trash cans and their lids in joy and relief. Relief from being under the command of a man we could not respect, and finally being under the command of a man we could. They played the Ballad of the Green Beret, we sang, they played the national anthem and every one of us in our underwear in the freezing cold stood at attention saluting and singing at the top of our lungs. I wish I could be with the guys who risk their lives on a daily basis in Afghanistan or Iraq or anywhere they may be under fire when they get the news that Obama is no longer their CnC. That kind of joy can only be experienced, it cannot be conveyed.
Thank you for your service sir. And may I apologise on behalf of all patriotic Americans for the cancerous pustule currently in office. I feel sorry for all the military members who have to serve under this treasonous creep, who would ‘repurpose’ the military as his own private ‘republican (or democratic?)guard’ just like another tin-pot dictator like Saddam.
It must be doubly frustrating for active service members to be constrained from criticizing (even outright prevented by their code) this individual who in no manner shape or form merits being their CIC.
Word is, you told some of your donors — at a $35,800-a-plate dinner — that you might need a second term to re-fix health care.
An infamous radio personality noted today that this kind of news is insider baseball, something the idjits (uh, donors) who pony up that kind of money for a lousy meal with The One are paying for. Some exclusive tip as to what the future portends.
Kind of like “Mr.”Obama telling rich San Franciscans in 2008 about all those bitter clingers in Pennsylvania, hardy har har.
Or “Mr.” Obama assuring his buddy Medvedev that “things” would be a lot more user friendly from their perspective after his re-election.
Med promised to pass it on to Vlad.
If Obama were to ask for forgiveness that would be admitting fault. We all know this kind of egomaniac will never admit to anything but their own greatness and self praise. It’s quite pathetic that a person like this was elected to this office. Is the that the fault of the people for being fooled or that Obama is the best horsecrap salesman on planet earth? We need to fix this now.
I like your letter, but I also think Obama will never get wind of it. It is very difficult for me to wrap my head around the idea that Obama does not care about America, but it is obvious he doesn’t like America for what and how she is. Why? Different political philosophy? Or perhaps a different philosophy inhabited in a seemingly narcissistic personality? One of the central issues of a narcissistic is the sense of being the “chosen one” whose concentration on perfection and power leads to a self-deceived harmony with “God.” Narcissists seek out others to confirm or justify exaggerated entitlement fantasies and distortions in that the world is deeply indebted to them. It is so shamefully disheartening to watch the direction our leader is leading this country. Another four years? Let it not be so.
So Obama needs a 2nd term to “re-fix” the health care bill? Good thing we didn’t hire this guy to be a carpenter. This house Obama built is listing to one side and has 2×4′s poking out the other. But by golly he just needs a 2nd term to bite his tongue and stare down his thumb to straighten those walls with his hammer of hope and change. He’s gonna build us a grand luxurious socialist house to all live in; he’s that double-plus good.
but Mr Green, he needs some new laws to get around that pesky constitution.
This is not a country that makes life easy for your diligent dictators. Despite chipping away at the law, customs, and societal cohesion for over 200 years, there are still too many knuckle draggers clinging to their guns, religion, property and chuckle, chuckle, “freedoms”.
That’s what he really wants to change. Then we’ll see what utopia really is like.
This does not surprise me that Obama is doubling down on stupid. After all he is/was proposing another ‘stimulus’ bill. Looking where the first one got us another one would be considering doubling down – and thats just plain stupid.
That’ll be his own epitaph when he loses in November – “He doubled down on stupid – stupid”.
My alternative to Obamacare. Readers here, please feel free to shoot it down:
Every large city has ugly old buildings. The Feds should buy them, renovate them and staff them with a small core of well-paid health professionals, augmented by Med school grad interns, those who want to “work off” their student loans, volunteers, and provide tax incentives to any person or group that donates time or materials. Use generic drugs in bulk. Make these “Free Clincs” clean, safe, comfortble, and available 24/7 on a first come – first served basis, except for bonafide emergency room visits. All patients must sign waivers forfeiting their right to sue for malpractice (unless criminal intent is proven)- imagine the money saved if there were no lawyers or insurance companies to deal with. Provide vouchers to private hospitals for cases that they cannot handle. Charge patients co-payments for excessive use. Welcome to………AMERICARE!
That is a damn good idea.
The only time you’ll ever see this thug down on his knees is if he is on a prayer rug facing Mecca.
Apology? No, insufficient. Sufficient would be a short sword, a mat to kneel on and a trustworthy second to do the beheading so he doesn’t embarrass himself after the self-disemboweling. I’d nominate Biden but he’d likely miss.
And not that Chi-Town jackwagon Axelrod, he’d try to turn it into a fund-raising opportunity.
There is an iconic photo shot during WWII while the nazis were marching through Paris. The Citizens of Paris are lined up on both sides of the nazis and are forced to watch. One man is crying, with tears streaming down his face as his country is taken over by thugs. That is how I felt on Nov. 2008. I am not calling Obama a nazi, However, He is something equally insidious. His policies are anathema to our Republic. I am looking forward to Nov, 6. 2012 so We can vote this mistake out of office and start to rebuild this damaged republic. One thing that I have noticed. I am 62 yrs. old. When I was a teenager during the sixties i Would read the Tribune or Suntimes in Chicago every day, front to back.Todays youth are more interested in Face Book. various social media, or reality shows on TV. That is as troubling as the great pretender in the White House. My 2 cents. THX.
It is time for the WH wWing Boys Club to leave the frat house on Pennsylvania Avenue. The weekly “war upon . . .” is growing old.
The political science student amoung them should prepare a response to, can the voters accept Thomas Paine or Mao? This will be the issue of 2012. That and jobs.
Be careful Mr. Vodkapundit – it’s polemics like yours that’ll earn you a fatwa from Mr. Soetoro.
Or maybe he can only daydream…
p.s. When you are free of the burdens of office, Mr. Obama, please apologize to those who voted for you. For stealing their money, for lying, and for pretending to be educated. The people will allow you to live in one of the states, but only one whose number is more than 50.
Obama “get down on both knees”? Maybe for George Soros, if he hasn’t already.
yours, lessthan16ouncesVodkaPundit.
Why is Obama “doubling down”? Why did Obama spend almost all his political capital in 2009 no Obamacare? I submit, he is a believer… in the left wing idealogy. Obama is the fruit, not the root, of a century of fabian socialism. If you study up on Keynes, it is shocking some of the stuff he believed in. Most of the readers here have probably been schooled by Glen Beck on the roots of progressivism, and the agency of Woodrow Wilson initiating the League of Nations which became the United Nations.
As far as their agenda goes, the “second bill of rights” is like the Holy Grail of progressives. Health Care is the crown jewel of those rights. We all have watched the Supreme Court review in March. Kennedy spoke the truth when he said that approval of this law would fundamentally alter the relationship between government and Americans. We are at the brink. The progressives believe the Constitution is a “Living Document”. So instead of creating a revolution like the Communists wanted, the Fabian socialism chose to gradually transform American culture.
Now we have an increasingly clear choice between the continued growth of the secular nanny state, which Obama and his progressives believe in, and individual self government and liberty, which traditional constitutional conservatives believe in. The 2012 elections are about a clear choice between two competing visions. (Thomas Sowell writes most clearly about this, if you haven’t read him. Try reading “A Conflict Of Visions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Conflict_of_Visions)
I liken the failure of the left wing economics to a boil coming to a head, full of puss. The real time fruit of this vision of economics is disastrous. Paul Ryan and Rand Paul get this. Marco Rubio gets it. The 70 new GOP House Reps by and large get it. The work is to continue to pound away at the fundamental issues with the American Independents until they get it.
So, stupid? Yes. Will calling Obama stupid bring the middle over to the right on this issue? I doubt it. We have the truth as is shown in the economies of so many countries this century. Argentina gets it. Greece does not. We could go on.
So, the job is to discredit statist management of our country, and to promote federalism…. pushing the power and authority down to the lowest possible level, allowing for diversity among the states. Let the labratory of 50 states bring the cream to the surface, and let the successful states learn from those who are seeing things work. Eventually, even California will wake up.
So, I get the value of making the case to Mr. Obama, that his priorities are wrong, his policies are wrong and not working, and we plan to fire him in November. But along the way, remember Obama is just the fruit of this foul progressive philosophy which produces an ever increasing federal power with the loss of individual liberty. So we need to continue to bring the confrontation on the issues, while remembering obama is not REALLY the enemy. His way of thinking is. So in some ways, one could say that restoring constitutional conservatism to the U.S. Senate is almost more important than winning the White House, except for the Supreme Court appointments.
Persist, friends, with hammering the specifics of the Obama policies that do not work. Marco Rubio is the best I have seen doing this. Gracious, but persistant with the message. Indulging in belittling Obama won’t get support from the middle. Allow him to be seen as a good family man, who is simply wed to his idealogy before allow the real world implications to show him how wrong he is. If he is something worse than that, pray that the truth will surface, but I recommend allowing the Supreme Judge of the world (referred to in the last paragraph of the Declaration of Independence)to be the one who takes Obama down a peg… or two… A little humility on our part will help the process….
