Dr. Benjamin Carson, a former 2016 Republican presidential candidate and President-elect Donald Trump’s choice to serve as secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), told Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren that “it will not be my intention to do anything to benefit any American.”
In his hearing on Thursday, Carson stammered slightly in responding to Warren’s questions about avoiding any conflict of interest in his efforts at HUD. The senator asked him pointedly, “Can you just assure us that not one dollar will go to benefit either the president-elect or his family?” In response, Carson seemed to say he won’t do anything to benefit any American, much less President-elect Trump.

Naturally, omitted from this hilarious video is Carson’s explanation just a few seconds afterward — “it’s for all Americans, everything that we do.”
He further clarified, “I will manage things in a way that benefits the American people.”
