Report: Lois Lerner Tried to Get a Sitting GOP Senator in IRS Trouble (Update: Email Added)

Chad Pergram works for Fox News, and has been covering the IRS scandal. On Twitter he just dropped a bombshell.

Sources tell Fox #IRS‘s Lerner came across invitation for Grassley to event. Lerner then referred Grassley for probe.

#IRS Emails reveal Lerner mistakenly received invitation to a speaking event for Grassley. Referred him for possible tax probe.

Wow.

Update: Ways and Means has provided the email in question. In the exchange, Lerner mistakenly receives an invitation to an event that includes Grassley. She leaps to the conclusion that travel expenses were “inappropriately” offered for Mrs. Grassley. So she suggests referring the senator for an audit.

Another IRS official talks her off of that ledge.

What on earth must there be in those “lost” emails?
