The Senate Republicans are trying to get President Obama’s attention with this video.

It’s a good video, and certainly more on point than the one that Organizing for Action just released.

At issue in the top video, fast track trade authority. Republicans support it because trade is good for jobs. President Obama claims that he wants to increase exports and spread the “Made in the USA” label around. He said in his SOTU that it’s time to “work together” and pass the Trade Priorities Act. But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is siding with the unions that keep him in office, and is blocking the bill.

There’s no question that exports are good for jobs here at home. Texas alone benefits enormously from overseas trade. Overall,¬†more than 1 in 5 American jobs are supported by international trade. Trade agreements help spur growth and job creation here. Nearly half of US exports go to countries that have free trade agreements with us.

Here’s a chance for the president and Congress to work together on an issue that isn’t divisive, isn’t loaded down with pork, preserves congressional and presidential powers, and will help create jobs. What’s he waiting for?

UPDATED:Don't know where Bryan gets the information presented here, but with all respect it's flawed.
He says Senate Republicans support fast track authority aka Obamatrade - well maybe some do, but last I checked, Rand Paul is a Republican senator and he is not on board with giving Obama the power to bypass Congress, which is what fast track is explicitly designed to do, as even its staunchest supporters acknowledge. And Rand Paul is not alone among Republicans opposing this unconstitutional power grab by Obama. Louis Gohmert, Michele Bachmann, Allen West and Laura Ingraham, Reason magazine, Dinesh D'Suza among others have spoken out against it.

The author swallows Obama's lies about Obamatrade promoting jobs and 'Made in the USA' - essentially, if you like your job you can keep it. Fast track gives Obama the power to ram a job-killing, corporatist special deal known as the TransPacific Partnership (TPP) through Congress without amendment and with limited time to debate it. Congress would have to pass it to find out what's in it.

Obamatrade is opposed by conservatives and liberty lovers (not just unions as the piece mischaracterizes it) across the country including leading Tea Party activists in Texas, Phyllis Schlafly, and others too numerous to mention here. Poll after poll shows supermajorities of conservatives oppose Obamatrade-type deals - even more than Democrats do

In addition, the sharpest political operators on the Democrat side (including the head of the Democrat House campaign committee) have come out against Obamatrade, making it a certainty that any Republican who supports it will face Son of Bain ads accusing them of outsourcing jobs.

Conservatives and even Democrats don't trust Obama with Obamatrade unilateral fast track power - why on earth does John Boehner and why would ANY Republican?
