With Egypt in flames, the CIA chooses now to admit its role in Iran’s 1953 coup. If you’re a person of an anti-colonialist bent, this admission comes at an auspicious moment.

Former Muslim Brotherhood member turned peace activist Walie Shoebat says that Egyptian officials believe that there is a deep, personal tie between the Muslim Brotherhood and one Malik Obama.

The former Chancellor of the Constitutional Court of Egypt and current adviser, Tahani Al-Jebali stated that the reason the United States cannot fight the international organization of the Muslim Brotherhood is because the brother of U.S. President Barack Obama is the architect of the investments for the international organization of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Meanwhile, what the president relegates to a single clause in his remarks on Egypt is in fact a pogrom against the Coptic Christians there. More than 50 churches burned, 10% of the people terrorized by the Muslim Brotherhood and its supporters.

And the United States government has nothing to say about it.

Maybe they should read Brett Stephens and stop the public quibbling over US aid to Egypt.

of getting into bed with the Brotherhood and forging ties with their US front groups; caught in the web of his own making Obama can't extricate himself and needs to resort to trickery and guile to appease them: leaking the lie that he opposes El-Sisi and secretly cut off military aid to his junta. Whether Obama likes it or not the Egyptian military is indispensable to the US for fighting Islamic terror and for its strategic interests in the region. Caught between the rock and hard place poor, lost, befuddled Obama believes that Brotherhood support is indispensable for a peace deal with the Taliban (Qaradawi), and for a settlement to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict (bringing Hamas to the table). He's trapped and desperately trying to navigate a middle course between his need for both El-Sisi and the Brotherhood. The disaster of Obama's first term is becoming the catastrophe of his second term as his administration tumbles into utter epic confusion.

"If you’re a person of an anti-colonialist bent, this admission comes at an auspicious moment."

I'm actually reconsidering my anti- colonialism stand.
I was asked a question on the subject not long ago "Can you name one Third World former Colony, now independent, that wasn't better off AS a colony? Freer. More Just. Less fearful. Better educated. And employed. With more opportunity. All guaranteed by the colonizer." The closest I could come was Israel and the former Frontier Colonies like the U.S. or Canada. Australia etc.
But NOT including South Africa. They all started with educated western populations. And I imagine we could argue over the former Spanish New World Colonies. But aside from one or two stand outs, Chile' for example, just who among them has really made a go of independence?

Well just something to ruminate on......
