My blog has a correspondent on the ground in Egypt, Huda N. (not her real name). She reports that the recent violence by the army against Morsi supporters is a response to violence committed by Morsi supporters:

These are pictures taken from the protests that were called upon by General El-sisi to support the army in their fight against terrorism. The general El -Sisi called upon these protests after the escalating violence of the brotherhood and their supporting Islamic terrorist groups who have been terrifying the Egyptian people since the ousting of President Mohamed Morsi on the 3rd July, 2013.   The acts of violence include bombing, kidnapping, torture, armed attacks on police forces and the army this is in addition to wide heavy armed attacks in North of Sinai. People are fed up with these acts and the hands of the armed forces and police forces are tied due to the international pressure which supports the Muslim brotherhood.

…Due to an unremitting international pressure on Egyptian interim government, especially by American Ambassador in Cairo Ann Patterson and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, to release detained ousted President Mohamed Morsi and Muslim brotherhood leaders, the army chief General Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has urged Egyptians to go down to all squares of Egypt on Friday 26th July, 2013 to support and to mandate the Egyptian armed forces and the police forces to confront violence and terrorism. General El-Sisi asked Morsi supporters to refrain from violence in their protests.

…The people of Egypt in their awareness of the dangerous attempts of the Islamist parties to drag Egypt into a civil war have taken to the streets by the millions. The people took to the streets to protest against the violence, torture to opposition, bombing and killing practiced by the Muslim brotherhood in the streets of Egypt.

Huda reports that the actions of the Obama administration are alienating Egypt and driving Egypt into the orbit of Moscow:

President Obama in a sign of disapproval of the call of General El-Sisi halted the 4 F-16 fighter jets deal to the Egyptian Air Forces. “Trying to break the neck of the Brotherhood is not going to be good for Egypt or for the region,” said a White House official. While Angela Merkel said:  “The Egyptian authorities must release immediately Mohamed Morsi and all political detainees.” And “Egypt must not exclude the Muslim Brotherhood from the new political roadmap.”

…People during the protests demonstrated that Mrs. Ann Patterson is a persona non grata in Egypt. They carried pictures of President Obama in the form of Bin Laden crossed with a red X. Contrary to that they carried pictures of President Putin high together with General El-Sisi.

Huda N. states that the Obama administration is greatly deceived regarding the Muslim Brotherhood:

There is a great shift in policy dealing with Islamist groups by USA government after September 11 attacks and the current Obama government embracing these Islamic groups rather than fighting them.  The key reason why the United States and Germany support the Muslim Brotherhood is the false belief that it is a moderate Islamic group and the repression of such groups creates more radical Jihadists movements. …USA and German governments tend to forget that the Muslim Brotherhood is the grandfather of every Jihadist and Islamic-fundamentalist movement in the Middle East and that their decree is violence.

What is there about the year 1857 you don't understand? Inform yourself about who was in that uprising. They were proto-Taliban. Did you think the Taliban just magically appeared in 1992? And Mohamed Ali sent a punitive expedition against the fundamentalist Wahhabis in the early 19th century. And no Wahhabis, no Taliban. The MB is from the late 1920s. The MB in fact is not the grandfather of all Jihadist groups. Ever hear of The Assassins? They only go back to the First Crusade.

@FailBurton, it appears that Huda may not be using the word "grandfather" in the strict sense in which you take it. You are certainly correct that terrorism and murder committed in the name of Islam predates the creation of the Muslim Brotherhood and goes back to the initial days of Islam. At the same time, there is great evidence that the MB is associated with terrorism and murder at this time. See this article: "Brotherhood Torture Chambers (Finally) Exposed" http://bit.ly/17Qyckq

Morsi should be hanged along with his murderous cohorts. The coalition government is now comprised of women and Christians, among others. Egyptian people are sick and tired of being hacked to death by Islam and its tyrants ... and the Muslim Brotherhood has been put on notice. The Muslim Brotherhood have so much blood on their hands that it's beyond horror; no wonder Huma's taking a vacation - she sees the sriting on the wall and so does little Barry the MB cheerleader and traitor to our nation.

Dear Leader is sending the Wit brothers to sort it all out -Senator J. McCain (Dim Wit) and Senator L. Graham (Nit Wit). Should they fail to carry the day, Chairman Barry will have to send in the "big gun" SecState J. Kerry (Half Wit). I really don't see the big problem here - just send Huma over there to tell her mom, brothers, sisters, and cousins to behave and act like they got some "home training." What's so difficult about that?

As is said, every dog has its day. In effect, at least in Egypt, the Brotherhood Mafia is now on the receiving end of the vile barbarism they directed at those who refused to submit to Islamism - http://adinakutnicki.com/2013/07/07/egypts-syrias-civil-wars-brotherhoodsalafistsal-qaeda-in-the-forefront-christians-beheaded-the-cancer-of-islam-commentary-by-adina-kutnicki/

One can only hope that this will spread to all the other places where Islamism has taken hold. There is NO other way to rid this cancer other than through counter violence. They will not be convinced to cease their jihad with any other methods.

In effect, one only wins the war by finishing it!!

Well, I'd take that all with a grain of salt. The fact is, unless you were actually at the fighting in Nasr City and everywhere at once, it's impossible to know who to blame for the violence. I've seen video of Morsi supporters shooting unarmed riot police with shields at close range and the army firing as well.

I've been told the reason the 2 pro-Morsi sit-ins are afraid to disperse is that once they are at home they'll be singled out one by one and arrested. Whether that is true is another thing. It may be true cuz they know damn well Morsi's not coming back, international pressure or no.

The claim "that the Muslim Brotherhood is the grandfather of every Jihadist and Islamic-fundamentalist movement in the Middle East" is false. The West has been dealing with wahhabi fundamentalists since the 1857 Delhi uprising through to the Taliban and the Saudi Al Queda.

The main problem here is that, unlike the 2011 uprising, you have two groups in the street with a certain amount of willingness to use pistols on each other. I myself doubt the security forces in Nasr City killed 80 pro-Morsi supporters without themselves being fired on.

You seem misinformed. The Muslim Brotherhood is the grandfather of all Jihadist groups we have today. Al Queda is a recent addition (formed in 1989) and so is the Taliban (formed in 1992). The MB is the direct father of Hamas...

Do some research on these organizations and discover that the Muslim Brotherhood has it's hands in virtually every terrorist operation around the world.
