Assad Says First Missile Care Package From Russia Has Arrived

The enemy of my enemy

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said his regime has received the first shipment of sophisticated Russian antiaircraft missiles, and the main Western-backed opposition group said that it wouldn’t participate in peace talks while regime attacks continue—a double blow to recent efforts to bring a peaceful end to the civil war.

Mr. Assad’s comment on the arrival of the long-range S-300 air defense missiles in Syria, in an interview with Lebanon’s Hezbollah-owned TV station, could further ratchet up tensions in the region and undermine any efforts to hold any peace talks.

American officials said they had no evidence that the Assad regime had received a shipment of S-300s.

Israel’s defense chief, Moshe Yaalon, said earlier this week that Russia’s plan to supply Syria with the weapons was a threat and suggested that Israel was prepared to use force to stop the delivery.

I’m so old I remember people saying that electing Barack Obama would make everything all right in the world. Where are the hugs?!?!?
