Star Power Finally Gets the White House Press Corps to 'Rebel'

This Politico story on the media’s “rebellion” against the Obama regime’s closed and secretive nature is ridiculous. Jim Vandehei and Mike Allen reveal that Barack Obama and his handlers are “puppet masters,” which has been obvious since he was a mere candidate six years ago. They further opine that the media aren’t willing puppets.

President Barack Obama is a master at limiting, shaping and manipulating media coverage of himself and his White House.

Not for the reason that conservatives suspect: namely, that a liberal press willingly and eagerly allows itself to get manipulated. Instead, the mastery mostly flows from a White House that has taken old tricks for shaping coverage (staged leaks, friendly interviews) and put them on steroids using new ones (social media, content creation, precision targeting). And it’s an equal opportunity strategy: Media across the ideological spectrum are left scrambling for access.

Bovine excrement.

CBS is no conservative outlet. That network has been granted not one but two exclusive interviews with Obama just this year. One of the two included his departing Secretary of State. CBS used neither opportunity to ask anything close to a tough question. Clinton ought to be departing under a cloud called Benghazi. Obama should be answering tough questions about his own actions during that attack. The fact is, both he and Clinton were MIA while Americans fought for their lives. CBS and the rest of the liberal media have given both a pass, speculating on her presidential run rather than why she failed to secure a US consulate in a war zone, leading directly to the deaths of four Americans.

The fact is, the only reason that the press rebelled this time is because they wanted to hobnob with two megawatt historic celebrities together: Barack Obama and Tiger Woods. That’s what this weekend’s “rebellion” is really all about. It’s not about access to policy discussions or anything substantive. The majority of the media don’t care that Obama is formulating policy outside Congress, or if they do care, they actively support it.

It’s because the Washington media wanted access to two of their favorite celebrities. They probably wanted to get some autographs.

Their hero denied them this special moment, and hurt their precious feelings, so now they’re turning on him for a day or two and calling things he has been doing for years, with their blessing, “dangerous.” It won’t last, and pretty soon they’ll all be back to their usual games.
