Al Jazeera did not disclose the purchase price, but people with direct knowledge of the deal pegged it at around $500 million, indicating a $100 million payout for Mr. Gore, who owned 20 percent of Current. Mr. Gore and his partners were eager to complete the deal by Dec. 31, lest it be subject to higher tax rates that took effect on Jan. 1, according to several people who insisted on anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly. But the deal was not signed until Wednesday.
Taxes, like most other laws, are for the little people. Just ask David Gregory and his pet apologist Howard Kurtz.
Al is one of the biggest hypocrites. Save the world, yet flies around in a private jet. Reduce human footprint, yet ends up having 4 children, 2 more than is needed to replace he and Tipper. Global warming will drown us all, yet buys a mansion on the coast. Make the rich pay more, yet do what he can to reduce the taxes he pays. He’s almost as bad as Obama.
So Al Gore sold his 20% stake in Current TV for $100 million. His co-founder Joel Hyatt CEO and former Chairman Al Gore will remain on board as advisors. Time Warner is dropping Current TV (or Al Jazeera US with NYC/L.A.) since Comcast Corp. and DoirceTV each have a 5% stake in Current TV. Al-Thuni ias visioning a very large viewing audience – whereas UAE/Gulf News have the realistic expectations in US market for the new Al Jazeera. Wasn’t it Obama adm. and HRC in particular who were telling Americans to have Al Jazeera not very long ago?
If the deal wasn’t signed before Wednesday, then he pays the higher rate? (Cool!)
David, be kind to Al. He really needed 2.3 children (or something like that) to make up for those of us who never had kids. That means he and Tipper probably had one more than the earth needed, not two.
So 39.6% of the $100 million is about to go to the wasteful federal government.

Not so much for closing the deal before the expiration of the Bush tax rates, or making the sale to the enemy, but because al Jazeera’s burning, fuming, toxic hatred of America, Israel and The West makes it among the world’s worst global warming polluters.
