The good thing is the conservatives are still in the majority in this country. This may not last much longer and we had better get our act together and straighten out the Constitution so it reads exactly the way it has been interpretted in the past.

And worse. Not only the cell phone program, but millions of your dollars are being spent advertising food stamps, disability benefits, free medical care, housing & utility assistance, TANF, weatherization programs and more of Obama’s “freebies”.

The original program was initiated in 1997 while Clinton was president. It continued through the Bush administration. However, it was not called a “Clintonphone” or a “Bushphone” but you can damn sure bet it is called an “Obamaphone” for good reason – he is taking credit for it.

Nobody likes a benefactor. This woman and every able bodied person in this country should work for every dollar the Government forces the working population to pay them. Need road work done ? In short need anything that can be done by those with a trace of an IQ of 90 can do or those able to be trained can do.
Pull those workers from the ranks of anybody except the severely handicapped to do the work, when, where, and for how long a time it needs to be done. If they call in sick on their free cell phone, take the requisite amount of money from the check they are supposed to be earning. Food stamps ? Not hardly. Work= food consumption. Extra credit should be given to those who volunteeer for training in night schools set up for that purpose. Slack at night school and you get bounced and will be unable to reapply until you work diligently for one year at the job the Government you like so much has been generous to the extreme in giving you . Don’t like it return to your ancestral home on a one way paid ticket. Take the ticket and lose your citizenship, which an alien on the waiting list may claim.
According to my family tree, I had two relatives who were killed while fighting for the North to end slavery. I say my reparations are PIAD IN FULL!
If I had a time machine, I would show the Europeans in the 1600′s why they must not take Africans from Africa to do the toil. And, I would do whatever was necessary to prevent them from ever being transported to the Americas.

Same here. My daughter has a peanut allergy so we do pay $15 per month for an emergency device (not a phone, it just calls 911 and an emergency service). I wouldn’t mind paying to provide these devices to the truly poor, but the cell phones piss me off.
Our health insurance is north of $12,000 per year. Add that to all levels of taxes and rising consumer prices, there is not much left to spend on luxuries like cell phones. We shop at thrift stores too. My kids get one pair of decent quality for the best price shoes (~$15-$30 shoes when their feet grow or the season changes). No designer shoes or clothes. I have learned to shop frugally. I rotate through homecooked meals that I have learned to prepare for low $ per serving while still keeping it balanced and healthy. We have one car and consolidate errands to save gas. I have never had my nails professionally done, I do them myself (even my toenails when I was a pregnant beached whale). This is what us supposedly “rich” people do to make ends meet. No wonder the takers don’t care if food and energy costs rise, because they wiill just take more if they have to. They’d probably steal our last piece of bread to get their hair did. I don’t give a damn who I offend aymore. The truth is the truth.
Dang… I think I could qualify for food stamps, and get a free ‘cell phone too? How about subsidized high speed internet? I should check into that.

This free stuff thing doesn’t work, plus, as mentioned above, it amounts to dependence & a form of slavery in and of itself.

These “Free Phones” started out as a way to help poor folks to be able to get 911 for emergencies, then morphed into cell phones so they could find a job and have a phone number that any employer could reach them to offer them a job.
Under Obama its now free cell phones where you can call or be called by anyone anywhere at any time and WE PAY FOR IT.
But the growth in this free cell phone business is largely because SO MANY AMERICANS cannot find a job. The true free loaders who aren’t looking for a job indirectly helped those who are.
But that was (to my mind) a happy by-product of Obama’s helping “his” people out.
You left out that it’s a subsidy to the phone companies. The executives who get these contracts are very, very likely big campaign donors.
