The conservative Family Research Council came under attack at its Washington, D.C. headquarters today. Two people including a security guard were shot. There is no word on their condition (update: it looks like both wounded will be ok). Washington police and the FBI have reportedly responded to the shooting.
In a statement released after the shooting, FRC President Tony Perkins said, “The police are investigating this incident. Our first concern is with our colleague who was shot today. Our concern is for him and his family.”
On any given day, the Family Research Council comes under vitriolic attack from groups on the left for its defense of traditional values and traditional marriage. The George Soros-funded Center for American Progress devotes considerable resources to “monitoring” and criticizing the group. The FRC came under sustained leftist criticism during the Chick-fil-A free speech battle that culminated on August 1.

Update: Fox reports that the shooting is being treated as domestic terrorism.
Sources said [the suspect] is in his twenties and may have been posing as an intern.
The suspect “made statements regarding their policies, and then opened fire with a gun striking a security guard,” a source told Fox News.
Authorities were treating the attack as a case of domestic terrorism.
Washington has some of the tightest gun control laws in the nation.

A commenter over at Democrat Underground did, indeed, suggest that the guard took one for the team. Amazingly, there was somebody over there who actually knew about guns and bullet wounds, who calmly explained why the suggestion was utterly insane.
CNN, NBC, and all other MSM folks have no problem with this because, to them, he was shooting at the “right” people.
This story could most definitely be a token “balance” to the Sikh hoax.
The timing is right, the motive is absurd, and the target is laughably positioned right square in Fantasy Land.

Bryan, the first paragraph in the final linked article makes things more clear — the paragraphs you cited just say that that gunman “made statements regarding their policies,” but did not say what those statements were (agreement? disagreement?) — but the first paragraph specifies:

Some observations:
First, when he thought he had the clear advantage to shoot whomever he wished the would be murderer fired away – but when confronted by active resistance his cowardice showed through immediately.
His personality is like about every other lefty I’ve ever known.
Second, the DC area has the strictest gun control laws in the nation – and it still didn’t stop the would be murderer from bringing a gun into a workplace and shooting it up.
Third, if this had been a Planned Parenthood facility, the media would have almost beaten the would be murderer to the crime scene in order to start reporting on it non-stop 24/7 until SOMETHING was done about the easy availability of hand guns AND simultaneously blamed Sarah Palin for the whole thing as she and other right wing types obviously incited the violence by their hateful rhetoric.
Fourth, the media – whenever they do dwell on this story for very long – will definitely downplay the would be murderer’s political views.
Fifth, good for Romney in immediately denouncing this attack!
The best way to make the left as uncomfortable as possible in their rhetoric is to call them out on this at every opportunity and show just how hypocritical they are.
The only thing left I am wondering about is whether the guy was gay, whether or not he was on psychotropic medications at some point, and whether he was white.

I have a few lefty friends on FB and I’ve been telling them to lighten up on the hate talk. I even tried to explain that this hate talk that they enjoy so much is just a tactic to foment hate. Maybe now they’ll understand.
Lefties are all for violence until their targets fight back. I was watching a documentary about the Greensboro massacre, and while I despise (as much as radical Muslims) white supremacist groups, I couldn’t help but smile as a survivor relived the moment. The PTSD was still visible 25 years later as she fought back tears thinking about it. Lefties are really bad at anarchy, and really good at tyranny.
