Allahpundit begins his post dissecting the CNN fact-check with a question:
I wonder if Bill Burton and crew knew about this and greenlit the smear anyway or if they didn’t care enough to even find out. Why would they?
In answer, yes, Burton & co likely knew the ad was hokum from the first frame to the last, and green lit it anyway. Why would they, knowing that it’s likely to fall apart in short order? Didn’t they think that even CNN would have to throw a flag at some point?
The Obama campaign has read the economic numbers, and they are aware of the history. Incumbent presidents in the kind of economy that we’re in right now don’t win.
The Obama team ran four years ago selling a product that didn’t exist. They created a hologram dream candidate, multi-racial, capable of great oratorical performances as long as he stuck to the script, with not much of a legislative record that could be used against him, and with a career prior to politics that could be made to sound romantic rather than fringe. He was a teacher! He organized communities! He cared. They marketed this product the way Hollywood might market a movie: “In a world..where a country is divided by race, and by wealth, and by a long and drawn-out war…comes a man…the perfect man…post-racial…post-partisan…promising peace. That man…is Barack Obama.” Cut to smiling, waving young man, flash bulbs pop as the adoring crowd roars, fade to black.
People voted for Obama because they got caught up in the emotions of electing the first black president, the young man who had reportedly taken Harvard by storm, the bright fresh face with no long political career and the baggage that builds up around even the best and most principled political actor. Obama was a mass-marketed president to a country that wanted to feel good, and didn’t want to do its homework on the man who wanted to lead them. He smiled broadly, said nice things, and got handed the keys to the country.
But now, that same team has to sell a very real and very damaged product. They know they can’t sell that product on its own merits. They know that Obama has had too many revealing and unscripted moments, the latest killer line being “You didn’t build that!” His job performance has been poor, and the people who elected him four years ago are skeptical of him now. Four years ago they wanted to feel good. Now, they just want jobs and to know that the future holds the promise of something good.
Team Obama knows that the hollow man from 2008 is a real candidate now, and that he is not a particularly good one. They have seen him up close more than the rest of us have, and they know that he is an ideologue incapable of real leadership. But they have to keep him in power to keep themselves in power.
The “Mitt killed my wife!” ad isn’t about truth. Bill Burton & co did enough research to find Mr. Joe Soptic. They did enough research to craft an ad from the man’s sad story. They did enough research to know that Mrs. Soptic died seven years after Romney left Bain, they know that Bain tried to save GST, and they know that an Obama bundler was the person who ultimately shut GST down. They did the research, they brought the ad forward, and they know more than any of the fact-checkers know, that the ad is a lie.
And they don’t care.
The ad is out there. The uninformed are seeing it in their facebook feeds, twinned up with the latest from MoveOn or whichever smear group is running in parallel today. People will see the ad, and most of them will not see the CNN, PolitiFact or Washington Post fact-checks that declare the ad a total fraud. Out in the wild, the ad is intended do its job of toxifying Romney just enough to peel off a few of his voters and ramp up hate for him among Obama’s voters. That’s the point of the ad, not to tell anything that’s true, but just to stir the pot, sully Romney and depress his potential vote.
As I wrote yesterday, we’re dealing with something in the Obama campaign that we haven’t seen much at the top of American life, except in the worst moments of the Clinton era. We’re dealing with a president who is entirely without any sense of ethics, honor or morals. He has lived a lie for most if not all of his life, hiding his true political convictions in gauzy language that makes him appear reasonable and moderate. Having lived a lie, what’s one more lie, in the service of keeping himself in power? What’s one more lie if, in Obama’s mind, it accomplishes the “good” of keeping Romney out of power?
The danger for the Obama camp is that they risk going over a tipping point. There is a point at which the negativity becomes absurd, and instead of depressing the opponent’s vote, angers the opponent’s supporters and draws the undecided over to the opponent’s side. No one can really put a finger on where that point is, but it’s real and we saw the effect of reaching that point in the Texas Senate run-off last week. The Dewhurst campaign went too far into negative territory, no one really believed their last-minute attacks, and the backlash ended up ensuring that Cruz would win running away. Obama risks the same dynamic hitting him.
The Obama campaign has gone from accusing Romney of boyhood bullying to adulthood felony, to being a murderer in all but name. What accusation is left to throw at him? There aren’t many, but rest assured that the Obama campaign and its allies will find one.

Obama lied to win office.
Obama lied while he is in office.
Obama will lie to win office again.
Obama will lie during his second term.
Obama will lie after his second term ends.
Obama is a liar and all around him become liars as well.
No one alive should be surprised anymore at this man’s modus operandi.
John 8:44
You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
John 8:43-45

The lesson we should draw from this ad is that the safeties have come off. The question of course is if that side wins, having clearly tasted and enjoyed the fruits of demagougery and “bread and circuses” appeals to the lowest common denominator, why then should we assume they will forebear when it comes to execution of the laws? To anything? Especially as they have *not* forborn when it comes to execution of the laws currently.
What then? What should the response be?
Secession or civil war.
I have substantial concerns that there may be “Secession or civil war,” not in the manner of 1861 – 1865 but of significant uncivil unrest.
I agree. Race relations are at an all time low.
Dan,
While we all hunger for some (possibly violent) form of comeuppance to shake “those damned villains” to their core, how and what form it takes, and any “new direction” following such events are worrisome to say the least.
I am, in my soul a Federalist. I believe we declared ourselves a Nation on that first dawn of our existence. Whether it was States or Provences or Hamlets in groups of 13 or 33 or 3, is nearly irrelevant to me. The Minuteman of Massachusetts was the same man with the same rights of self determination as one from Georgia or Virginia. It was all of us, deservingly free, yet persecuted by unjust and immoral wrongs that warranted removal. That is what we were arguing.
Thus, I believe in the concept of Nation First, simply because I believe an inarguably supreme, Top-Level Claim To, and Enforcement of, such universal Inalienable Rights will withstand the petty fiefdoms of local tyranny far better than any local grievance will find a Federal ear of sympathy.
I never had any love for, or alliance to, any local government under which I lived. I never saw myself as a New Jerseyan, a New Yorker, a Pennsylvanian, a Californian or a Georgian. These were but temporary addresses in my life as an AMERICAN, and I believed my rights AS an American, were to be universally respected in all those places, all of the time.
That does not mean the Federal Government has not Morphed into something horrid, but I cannot in my heart see how I can ever call for “Succession” without (the impossibility) of abandoning My America. Should it ever come to a clash of arms against these Communists and their thugs who have infiltrated our Republic and perverted her into this present evil, I must fight under an AMERICAN flag, to restore my AMERICAN rights, and pass them on to my AMERICAN son.
State and Local mischief makers are just as guilty, influence paddling with Unions and Special Interests to tax and seize our property on the slightest pretext, to corrupt our children, seize our guns with “local” bans, and ultimately enslave us to them forever. Corruption and the Statist Mindset are even more widespread as you go further down the governmental pyramid. No State will protect your rights when they are busy salivating at the thought of a Property re-assessment to raise more money for The Teachers Union, or a new Swat Team to terrorize any dissidents who oppose them.
We cannot “succeeded” as States from the Federal Union, because the States (and even cities) are by and large just as corrupt and unresponsive.
If we revolt, it will be all chaos. Chaos against everything, all at once. And I fear who, and what, will attempt to be the “New Direction” and the “New Flag” we Rightfully Disgruntled Americans will fight under, and for.
Apologies for my bad spell checking folks:
“Secede” and “secession” in its various forms is what I meant to say…not “success”
Ronald Reagan once said that Liberals (leftists) needed to remember that we were a nation of states long before we became a country.
The US ARMY is already preparing

Buy precious metals (bullion, not paper stocks). Stockpile food, ammunition, and medical supplies. Await economic collapse, which will and must happen if we continue denying fiscal reality.
Given the Holder justice department why would we ever think that the rule of law and integrity would be something this administration has any experience in? Truly, it should be renamed the Un-justice or Anti-justice department.
The other thing — as noted on Monday — is that this negative advertising has been combined with Obama taking no questions from the media for six weeks. He can’t keep that up into October, where even if the moderator on the debates is a fawning acolyte in the Gwen Ifill mode from four years ago, they’re going to have to ask Obama (and Romney) exactly what they plan to do to fix the economy.
Neither is going to be able to answer that by just pointing fingers at the other and attacking them on what they’re allegedly going to do, but Obama faces the added problem of not being able to run a ‘stay the course’ re-election campaign used by Reagan in ’84, and they used in similar style (if not the same slogan) by Clinton in ’96 and GWB in ’04. If he follows his campaign’s current path, offers no vision other than doubling down on the status quo and simply attacks Romney in the face-to-face match-ups, Obama runs the risk of cratering the ‘likability’ factor among the swing voters that’s the only thing keeping him afloat right now.
The type of question I expect the “debate moderators” to ask Obama:
“Dear Mr. President, how would you prevent Governor Romney from murdering people with cancer in the future?”
“Glorious Leader, what will you do to dry the tears of all the children who see Governor Romney’s very existence as an affront to their dignity?”
“Oh, Lord of All That is Worthy, what are your orders, er, plans to end the vicious cycle of assault weapon violence and 2,000 bullet clips causing people misled by the hatred and bigotry of Republicans from murdering innocent children who did nothing but pick daisies in their front yards?”
And to ask Romney:
“What makes you think you’re worthy of being on stage with President Obama?”
“You realize President Obama is the first black president, don’t you?”
“What makes you hate black people so much you’d deny one of them his job?”
“The wife, the horse — that’s not something normal people indulge in, is it?”
“Senator Reid has spoken to a reliable source claiming you’ve never paid a penny of taxes in your life — doesn’t the fact he’s a fellow member of your faith give those accusations extra veracity?”
“We’ve recently seen part of your academic record — should someone so mediocre be allowed to even run for president?”
“How could you stand being near white trash like Palin?”
They *might* be a little more subtle.
Problem is they keep lying and the MSM aids in that. It will get worse the closer we get. That’s why the GOP needs to trot out Donald to go after Obama’s fraud – the media will broadcast Donald when they won’t for anyone else.
Truth will out
I call it the lie loud and lie often strategy.
When it comes to leftists in a national election year, these are the sleazy, greasy, cheesey days of summer, filled with peanuts and popcorn and beer…and slander, innuendo, distortion, lies, bribery, fraud, corruption and treason.
Their flying monkeys “media” division is simply a cheap, tawdry, low-rent, propaganda farm, spreading manure in the heat and letting the stench waft over the burgs, hamlets and villages.
There is nothing beneath a leftist, …treason, theft, rape, sodomy, …it’s all just a festival of amorality. If you are not a leftist, you are the enemy. And this is a perpetual war, take no prisoners style.
They saturate the airwaves informationally waterboarding the electorate with conceived atrocious lies…with no apologies and no retractions when they are caught. And no accountability from their co-conspirators in the mass media.
Yes, we are in a war…and the sooner we stop pussyfooting around about it, watering down the intent, giving every benefit of the doubt to the most ridiculous extremes, the better off we will be. No, there is no “incompetence” at work here. That would be true if it happened occasionally. It would be true if it EVER happened in both directions. It doesn’t. It is each and every time. That’s not coincidence. That’s a war plan being executed.
Time to stop mincing words. The leftists will destroy this country…by any means necessary. We need to stop navel-gazing about whether that is true or not. Or intentional or not.
The late Andrew Breitbart said to hit back twice as hard. Right now, we miss him.
cfbleachers – My sentiments, exactly.
CF,
CF stands for Center Field?
As in, Moderate?
Middle of the road?
I think you’ve finally discovered how uselessly subservient such wholesome magnanimity to the left is:
“Yes, we are in a war…and the sooner we stop pussyfooting around about it….the better off we will be”
Welcome to Right Field, slugger.
We are not simply fellow countrymen, engaged in earnest but constructive differences of opinions.
No.
We are at war with treasonous liars. With men who ship weapons to drug dealers, hoping the deaths that result can be used to blame political enemies. And with the men and women who KNOW this, and STILL lie for them.
They are at war with ALL of us, even the “middle of the road” types they think they can turn, outsmart, dupe, trick, use or marginalize.
There is no reasonable, honorable center anymore. There has not been for 30 years or more, but only now are some realizing to their dismay the trenches and barbed wire that surrounds them.
The Center is no-mans-land. A place for individuals to be sniped at, shelled, or overrun by a fast and vicious assault supported by (media) fire from entrenchments and bunkers.
Those in The Center cannot protect themselves, they cannot mount a credible assault alone, and they deny comrades in the OTHER trenches the use of their arms, and their aim, in this bloody grinding war of attrition.
They are useless in this fight, they are a LIABILITY.
Only a fool with a death wish, or a traitor, proclaims The Center as a desirable or even viable position to defend.
You know, it’s funny…I keep getting pushed further and further to the right.
I’m pretty moderate on some issues…but, the left has become dangerous, reckless and feral.
I’m fiercely independent….but I’m no traitor. My country comes first, above any political party.
People make a grave mistake if they think that independents are “squishy”. I have very, very stone solid opinions about key issues. Most of them are center-right…but, I suppose a few could be considered more “classic liberal”.
But, I despise radical leftism. (I despise radical…almost everything)
And…I want my fellow independents to hear this and hear it well. The left is the enemy of the center, not just the right. EVERY swing voter should know the face of treason and understand the implications for allowing it to continue to spread.
Okay, I have been saying this for eight months. And nobody gave it a second thought. Fine. CF has more gravitas here. I will defer.
So tell us CF, what should we do next? What contingency plans do you have for A. Dear Leader wins and B. Mitt wins and the left goes apoplectic? Why we still do not have a writer at PJM who is willing and has the stones to write about the NEXT step. Why is that? All we get are more psycho-analysis.
Seems like more posters are finally thinking about the next stop but it is still, what, against the rules to talk about it? How about an hones discussion of the next civil war. Any takers???
Dear Leader has already shown us what happens to people who cross him: they get got. He uses the power of his office to go after them, or he sics his minions on any dissenters, while pretending he hasn’t.
Shall we recount a few examples: Sheldon Adelson getting an IRS audit for the sheer nerve of being a major donor to Romney’s campaign. Other Romney contributors called thieves, criminals, etc. New Black Panther Party members who threatened whites at polls given a free pass; while those who want sane Voter ID laws are accused of trying to take away the vote from people. (Okay, we’ll cop to wanting to take away the vote of dead Americans, fictional Americans, incarcerated Americans, and illegals…) States like Arizona which attempt to enforce already existing federal law regarding illegal immigration are punished and dragged into court for their temerity.
And how about Americans who simply disagree being labeled “racists, homophobes, domestic terrorists” and all the other groundless smears the left has thrown at us for the past four years. That will not only continue, it’ll get far worse.
Let’s not even start on how the media treated Sarah Palin AND her family, even her special needs babe in arms.
We’ve all seen the calls for death to us and ours from the left. The threats, the intimidation — for heaven’s sake, a guy trying to sell chicken sandwiches is practically deemed an enemy of the people, because he doesn’t share the minority opinion that people of the same sex should be allowed to marry. From the way the left pitched a fit over Dan Cathy, you’d think he was serving deep-fried babies on those buns.
The vitriolic, eliminationist rhetoric will only get worse if Obama wins.
Further, even the idiot Occupods understand that for their glorious revolution to come to pass, a lot of their fellow Americans will have to die. They accept that in order to make an omelet, you have to break a few eggs. Hardly matters that “eggs” = people and “a few” = millions.
And now we’re not even human in the left’s eyes. Nancy Pelosi referred to Republicans as E. Coli. So what? We’re a virus now? We’re something to be stamped out?
We all know where this sort of thing ends, once a group (in this case, anyone who disagrees with the President in any way, shape, or form) is deemed a political enemy. They’re labeled a danger to society and responsible for all society’s troubles. They’re rounded up and allowed to live for a time, as long as they submit to certain restrictions. And then it ends in millions being herded into cattle cars — where they’re sent wherever the ones in charge decide they need to be sent. “Polite” people don’t worry their pretty little heads about such things, while turning a blind eye to it all.
We already have fringe people calling for the death of conservatives. Not just one conservative but ALL of us. We offend them and their aesthetic sense of fair play or somesuch. We’re the “evil” rich, even if most of us are in the 99%. We’re uncaring and unfeeling for wanting smaller government. We’re hateful bigots if we dare to state we believe in things most people in the world have ALWAYS believed.
The left has perverted truth into lies and turned the world on its head, promoting sin and eschewing virtue. (What did they say about the virgin track girl?) I hate putting this into religious terms of any sort, but I’ve come to the conclusion quite some time ago that the left (at least the progressive left) is Team Evil. They will do and say whatever it takes to remain in power. Principles? Who needs principles? They just get in the way…
If you’ve studied history at all, you know what the next chapter is. I don’t need to say it…
A shocking crime was committed on the unscrupulous initiative of few individuals, with the blessing of more, and amid the passive acquiescence of all.
Tacitus
Fear is not in the habit of speaking truth; when perfect sincerity is expected, perfect freedom must be allowed; nor has anyone who is apt to be angry when he hears the truth any cause to wonder that he does not hear it.
Tacitus
A bad peace is even worse than war.
Tacitus
If we are to believe Tacitus, then first we must admit our condition, and not harbor the pretense that leftists are our countrymen, they are not. They reside here as resident saboteurs, false patriots and we elevate their treason by helping them camouflage their cause.
The first order of business is to accept the fact that they have thrown down the gauntlet.
The second order of business is to stop allowing them to slap our faces.
The third order of business is to come to the brutal realization that they mean war and we have been slow to react, blind to their fury and deaf to their insults.
The fourth order of business is to galvanize around a singular purpose. They must be defeated.
The sixth order of business is to recruit every single person who would be motivated to save the nation from overthrow.
The seventh order of business is to engage the most talented at messaging, build awareness campaigns, and never…ever…allow anyone from our side of the fence to water it down with less than the brutal truth. Now is not the time to fret about “how it will sound”…the truth is not a shifting sand, it is a block of granite.
The eighth order of business is to expose the treason, treachery and plot for what it is.
The ninth order of business is to make the clarion call for all brave men and women to come to the aid of their country, to step into the danger, to get out of their inertia, to break the seal off of their comfort zones and to do more, be more, ask more of themselves…as if their lives depended upon it.
The tenth order of business is to pray…that we don’t leave our children a broken, destroyed, overthrown land from which they will derive nothing but misery and that we become the generation cursed by our ancestors for our weakness and shamed for our wilful timidity. To have left behind a legacy of losing the greatest nation in the history of mankind, because we lacked the courage to defend it, save it, preserve it from evil.
Obama has an ace that few other candidates for president have had: the race card. He can always play it when things get tough. It’s gotten him out of tough situations before. What other candidate would have gotten away with not releasing his college records or proof of citizenship?
Bryan Preston’s all time best post, and I’ve read 90% of them, at least.
Bryan has gone though a bit of an evolution himself in the last year, it appears. From small-time republican apparatchik and Perry love-child to someone who ought to be jaded, but now finds even himself choking at the smell….even 5 years after the odor began blanketing the country.
These criminals have to go.
I used to think we might have 10 years if the con man wins again. But now it’s clear that we won’t last that long. Republicans don’t have the guts to stand up to them. Romney better find a pair pretty quickly himself.
If Establishment-Republican Romney continues to run an “I’m above the fray campaign” focusing exclusively on the economy while refusing to counter the scurrlous charges of Obama and his various advocates, then Romney will lose in November, and the Republican Party will be consigned to the dustbin of history. Those of us who aren’t Establishment Republicans won’t go down without a fight, and that means a new political party will emerge that will get the job done (if Obama/Democrats don’t bankrupt us first). I live in Nevada now and am tired of seeing all the lying, pro-Obama TV ads with hardly any counter ads from Romney or his super PACs. And Nevada is supposedly a swing state!!
Wait until after the convention. Until then, by law, Romney is unable to spend the loot he’s raised since becoming the de facto nominee which explains why you have not seen much. It will hit. And it’ll hit hard.
I think Romney is doing fine with his campaign.
WE are the danger. We’re sounding like those anti-bush nut jobs, from a few years back, in this thread.
People are sick of Obama. They get what is going on. They know the media is covering for him.
I’m not saying your wrong either btw. I stockpile food and such myself… but don’t echo chamber yourselves in a frenzy. There are other ways around the left than fighting… we can do what they do with laws they don’t like. Find ways around them even if that means just straight up refusal to comply. They have sanctuary cities… we could have Indian reservation hospitals that don’t recognize Obamacare rules… have state governors demand insurance companies selling policies in their state treat them as valid… things like that…
I’ve always suspected the ObamaRx crowd had no concept of honor. Now I’m dead certain.
“By any means necessary … .”
Truth doesn’t sell. Sex sells, sensationalism sells, lies and delusions sell. Attention grabbing headlines and ludicrious sound bytes sell. The truth as well as Liberty are rape victims by the media nihilists who only need to stick the meme into the mostly out of work thought boxes of the American public. Playing to the lowest common denominator with a self destructive message is the tact.
If Truth sold, then we would all be more interested in the science channel than the lipsticked pig wrestling smack downs of political theater. The propagandist motto must have been lifted from P.T. Barnum, “No one ever went poor underestimating the tastes of the American public.”
Hopefully, there are still a majority who know the values of Truth and Liberty.
“lies and delusions sell.”
They may sell once — but not twice. The worst thing you can do in advertising is ‘over-promise’. Once people try a product and see it doesn’t live up to the promise, they drop it. Thus, an ‘over-promised’ product fails faster than if it weren’t advertised at all.
Obama was over-sold and has under-delivered. I think most people who are honest see that.
Example: “Winston tastes good like a cigarette should.”
Why did they do it? Obvious. It’s who they are; it’s what they do. A complete parallel/duplicate to the regime they are trying to get reelected.
Liberals lie, that’s what they do. And for Obama’s constituency – the brain-dead and con artists on the government take – there’s no downside to lying, and some like those in the mainstream media even applaud lying.
Mr. Preston, Uhbama/ ‘Progressives’ have little-nothing to worry over.
For Uhbama’s base is of the, ‘Light’s on but no one’s home’ variety.
The Uhbama voter won’t listen and/ or can’t accept ‘Progressivism’ as a failed venture. Even when that reality stares them in the face!
Chicago (but 1 of MANY cities and getting-there cities) is thee poster child for ‘progressivism’ idiocy run amok.
Chicago’s W, S side areas are complete war zones. The enormous public sector unions, government employees and manipulating every facet of the city’s day-to-day, multigenerational welfare recipients, having no right to arm/ protect yourself to name but a few of this city’s idiocy.
‘Progressives’ don’t and will not ‘get it’. Jmo.
To my mind, Obama may already have reached the tipping point some time ago. While it may or may not be relevant, I believe it was demonstrated by the enormous numbers of people who swarmed Chik-Fil-A to buy chicken sandwiches. They were Americans who probably didn’t care all that much about gay marriage one way or the other, but just wanted to show that they’re sick and tired of being vilified, insulted, and bullied by the Progressive crowd (that is, when Progressives aren’t just ignoring their opinions and wishes).
Who better exemplifies Progressivism than Barack Obama? And who looks more like a regular Chik-Fil-A type entrepreneur than boring, rich white guy Mitt Romney?
I thought the Chick-fil-a Wednesday buycott to be something representative of the pending November election. Lines wrapped around blocks waiting to vote for Romney. The Friday tongue twister the liberal voting line – empty.
The only thing more pathetic than this lying “Romney killed my wife” PAC ad was the response of one of Romney’s spokeswoman. She started out with the fact that Ms. Soptic died 7 years after Romney left Bain Capital. (So far, so good.) However, she then veered into enemy territory by saying, “Besides, if she had lived in Massachusetts, she would have had health insurance under RomneyCare.” WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Pitching for mandated health coverage is just the opposite of what Romney is running on. This is a man who has vowed to repeal ObamaCare as a first priority of his administration, but his spokeswoman brings up RomneyCare! What a friggin’ idiot. Romney ought to show her, and any like her in his campaign, the door a/s/a/p.
The Romney people do need to correct this. When I first heard of this and then considered the calls that his spokesperson be replaced I thought it might be an over reaction. But the fact is if this were a debate and Obama had laid out his “facts” , concluding Mr. Romney’s policies had somehow resulted in someone’s death and Romney had responded with “yeah, but she would have had insurance if she had the healthcare I instituted in Massachusetts”, we would be sunk. So, as important as replacing the spokesperson is, it is also important that Mr.Romney take this ad and his campaign’s response to it to heart and sharpen not only his team but his own game. If not now, when? When Obama has accused him of mass murder? Or worse? And there could be a “worse” because in Obama’s world it appears the bottom is endless.
The first amendment provides for free and unfettered speech. Lies can be countered by the truth. Let us hope that a conservative political action group creates and widely distributes an advertisement which shows the deceit of this Obama commercial.
Slice up the ad. Play a slice, followed by a deep, serious narrator telling the truth. Play another slice, followed by serious narrator telling the truth. Repeat. Show a clip of Obama claiming that he will never lie to the American public. End the ad with serious narrator pointing out the falsity of that statement.
Exactly. The talk earlier in this thread about secession and/or violence isn’t helpful. Debate the issues, convince with logic and facts.
Really!! Did you just crawl out from under a rock? We have been doing that for 60 years and look what it got us: Soptic.
Now is the time to get the debate underway about a new civil war. We cannot defeat them any other way.
If you want to debate them go find CW and let us all know how you did convincing him/her about how screwed up the progs are and their religion.
Geez!!!
Have you ever lived in a third world country?
Have you ever watched a country slide into a third world?
The rich and politicians, though they have everything, have a life of fear.
over 300 million people in the US, how can you control them? You cannot.
You have no need to call for a civil war, or a debate of the issues and or solutions to the problems, if Obama gets re elected, 300 million people will decide what type of third world the US will be. Chicago 0r Honduras.
Exactly. If the Romney campaign had an instinct for the jugular, they would make Obama pay for easily provable falsehoods put forward in such a smear.
But they can’t spend much money right now and the Obama campaign knows that and may think it can get away with slander because Romney has no way to counter and no friends in the press.
The antidote for this horse hockey consists of two things; Romney needs to hit back with facts about Obama, I am expecting that to happen after the convention.
It would also be helpful if the electorate gets a nice heavy dose of economic reality prior to election day, one that will cut through all the malarkey and focus attention. The persuadable from 4 years ago need to see the error in their prior vote. The best way for that message to get across is a further uptick in unemployment and accelerated erosion in economic performance. Couple that with credible presentation of an alternative to Obama and all the treachery unleashed by the media, Obama’s Super Pac, and the unions will be to no avail.
If things are going to be repaired we need further damage first. Obama chose socialist perscriptions to fix things. It needs to become abundantly clear to the average voter that these policies are a disaster. We aren’t quite there yet.
Same old demo ‘Divide and Conquer’. AND buy votes with taxes and laws.
If Team Romney does not aggressively and effectively respond to this smear campaign, he, we will lose. Gentleman John McCain ran a polite, inept campaign and deserved to lose. Romney’s spokespeople have been strikingly obtuse. The Republicans in Congress are also hapless. Why didn’t some Republican senator stand up on the floor of the Senate and tell Reid what a worthless piece of shit he is? Why doesn’t some Republican member of the House smack Pelosi down?
Aare they attempting to impress the media with their reasonableness? Are they afraid of offending the delicate sensibilities of the undecideds? It’s time to unload on the whole rotten Democrat sleaze machine and make it stick.
Outstanding!!
“Whar’s with all this slicing and dicing and parsing a vile, stupid ad? Stop laying by Goebbel’s rules.
Everybody” forecast that the Democrats, in a no-holds-barred” effort to gain a second term, would run a dirty Alinsky Rules campaign. That’s what we’re getting, and all the outrage and blue-in-the- face tantrums is exactly what they counted on: cry-baby and ineffectual. “Everybody” yaks and comments as though Obama was directing this: he is simply the front man for a skillful Chicago-trained “propaganda “A Team” – Ayers/Alinskky/Axelrod. Jack-hammering one false accusation after another, invigorating the Socialists, putting the dead-assed RNC into a defense crouch, priding themselves on “rapid response”. Snappy come-back! A guaranteed route to defeat. It is McCain 2008 all over again and the GOP hacks haven’t learned a damned thing.
Romney’s strategists need to get out of their “Let’s not be nasty like them!’ mind set, and get into an attack mode. Unlike Axelrod, they won’t have to depend on lies – they have the whole rotten truths about blatant mismanagement and deliberate destruction. On the wealth issue, how about doing a piece on Kerry? Or Soros The major theme should be: “He walks like a Socialist; he flocks with Socialists; he quacks like a Socialist; he rules like a Socialist. Why won’t he admit he’s a Socialist?’
The swing voters will not be won over by persuading them that Romney is a nice. smart man or by by explaining the merits of Capitalism. They’ll need to be convinced that the present White House is dedicated to tearing down our long heritage, our Constitution and free-enterprise system. Explain to me why that is a “negative” approach.
It’s a good thing that Romney never did something like having Massachusetts officials send grenades and guns with malice to the mob for a serial killing spree of mostly minorities and some cops in order to backdoor some unconstitutional action he couldn’t wait for. That would be a bad look for Mitt’s image and GOP voters would not think to organize a Free Romney vigil in an appeal to get him off of death row and onto the national ticket.
Team Obama will still naturally try to allege that Romney is a dangerous corporatist felon with a body count who will try to bypass the rule of law by any means necessary. It’s not personal, it’s just business.
These may be preemptive attacks as ludicrous as they are. Burton concludes, and rightly so, that 2 of BHO’s main liabilities are transparency and Operation F&F where many died. The best thing to do would be to neutralize these problems with these attacks. They don’t have to be realistic but they kind of answer arguments against BHO’s record.
The message is that Romney is not transparent and he likes to kill people and cover it up. It becomes a political wash even though BHO has exerted executive privilege.
Most likely, Romney/Bain & El Salvadoran Death Squads is next on tap. Because Dem Projection and Mexican Death Squads lead them inexorably to that point.
Barack Obama is the true evaporated man. He is a puddle on a hot summer day, wide and wet, yet with no depth and a short shelf life. He epitomizes the empty suit of the no “there” there, there.

great article. Thanks for sharing.
I have never had much faith in the average American voter. Most people can’t name their reps or senators, can’t identify a Supreme Court justice, and couldn’t begin to explain the benefits of free markets.
So sure, I worry that this–I’m sorry–this charlatan is going to get another term because so many people remain ignorant about the damage he’s done to this country and the incalculable harm he’ll do if reelected.
Having said this, I am slightly hopeful that many of the poorly informed and the misinformed who are not moonbats will step into voting booth on election day and, I don’t know, instinctively recoil from giving this guy four more years. Part of the reason I think this may happen is that even those who do not follow politics may come to realize (through the ads and the headlines, if nothing else) that they have not heard Obama make a single credible claim for an accomplishment during his first term. All he’s done is rip the other guy. And that may not sit well. We can hope.
Ouch! No wonder that the truth does not sell well, it hurts. If we posted, “Reality: Not for Sissys,” that campaign would crater. If we posted the “Lose Weight by Eating Ice Cream Diet,” the rewards would be enormous. This leads us to understand Team Obama and the benefits of serial fantasies.
Romney can’t fight back himself until the convention and Obama’s allies know it. We have to fight for him. Talk of succession doesn’t help.
I’ve never seen a candidate get re-elected once the bonds of trust were broken. Obama ran as a middle of the road everyman. He’s attempted to rule, not govern, as a radical elitist. He can try to play the race card but my gut tells me a good many middle and working class African Americans might be getting fed up with him, too.
Consider the story over at Legal Insurrection. Chicago’s Bud Billiken parade, the biggest African American parade in the nation, honored Obama with this year’s theme and he initially committed to appear. In June he withdrew and said he would send a surrogate. This week that surrogate was announced- an aide to Valerie Jarrett. Now that’s a surrogate commensurate with the great honor. /s Here’s the real kicker. Obama will be in Chicago the day after the parade for not one, not two but three three birthday party fundraiser$$$$ at the homes of cronie$. This is the action of a campaign that is taking its base very much for granted. Given his falling numbers among independents and the war he picked with the Catholic Church he better hope no one at the Billiken parade notes the insult.
Good one! Romney should run an ad on this one: Obama’s out there, sucking up to his wealthy , mostly white, followers for their big bucks, and snubbing his lower income, largely black, grass-roots idolators.
Yhat’s the attack mode that’s lacking. The infuriating thing about the GOP campaign is that Obama cabal keep giving them great attack opportunities and they ignore them. For instance on Reid’s demand for proof, they should respond with an ad that says, “Mr. Reid; The core principle of our law system is that the accuser must provide proof of his accusations. Are you saying that you don’t subscribe to that principle?”
Are you kidding? First you show your true colors but calling blacks African-Americans. Only the timid, guilt-ridden, or left calls blacks that.
Second, do you really think blacks will turn their backs on Dear Leader for not attending a march? A march? When they have been living in misery for the last 50 years and now they have theirs and bec. it missed a march they will vote for the white buy. Really? I want to know where you gut gets its information.
Third, what bonds of trust were broken? When he does nothing but lie what trust can be broken? Who has alleged that a bond has been broken? The MSM? Sharpton? JJ?
Blotto, at this point you are starting to look like a leftie sock puppet trying to portray this website the way the loonie left sees it. Maybe you are, maybe you aren’t, but your wild-eyed posts are both disproportianate and a ring a little false.
Sorry, but I calls ‘em as I sees ‘em.
They had to run the ad to find out what’s in it!
There is another reason for this approach. If Romney spends his time denying he eats babies, he is not spending his time attacking Obama’s indifference, incompetence and economic record.
Excellent posts above…..we were ostracized and condemned as racists, islamaphobes and extremists in 2007-2008 when we tried to get Americans to look at this ‘individual’ impartially and just on the facts. Our own ‘candidate’ denounced us and refused to aggressively question the alarming warning signs that stood in stark contrast to his campaign’s carefully crafted image.
But, the toothpaste is out of the tube now. Maybe enough Americans have been harmed by this tyrant-in-training for them to actually investigate for themselves what he has done, and what he wants to do, and hopefully come to the rational, educated decision that he is the most obvious example of bait and switch in American political history and he must go. Now.
I am concerned about the level of ignorance that permeates the electorate. There are actually relatively few dyed-in-the-wool anti-American socialists/communists/progressives (whatever name they choose) when compared to concerned citizens that want to see our country prosper. Unfortunately, among the latter, there are a significant number of ignorant people whether willfully or not.
Call me a nut, I don’t care, but I am prepared for whatever may come. I spent the majority of my adult life fighting in foreign sh!tholes; food, medicine, ammo, survival gear – got it. I believe there will be some chaos and mayhem in the inner city ghettos instigated by leftists who fail in their endeavors to steal the election, but it should not spread into my neck of the woods. I hope. But, as the Sipsey Street Irregulars say, “When democracy becomes tyranny, I STILL get to vote.” I am prepared to defend my family and my property, but I hope and pray that will not be necessary. This is just as much my America as it is your’s. I spent 22 1/2 years defending her overseas – I will not waver to do the same here in my own home. God bless you all.
Good post, Bryan. I heard Michael Medved reading from it on his radio show on my way home this evening. I think I also saw it linked somewhere else, but I can’t remember where at the moment.
In my opinion, the purpose of the Obama campaign’s sensational, outrageous lies is to appeal to voters who are idiots and morons, which, alas, is not an insignificant percentage of the electorate. Those people are impervious to facts and reasoned arguments. I don’t believe this ad was an accident or a miscalculation. It was purposeful and deliberate.
OK, it was linked at neo-neocon. But I thought I saw it somewhere else as well.
It’s also linked in the comments at Belmont Club.
At breitbart, they’re supposing Obama’s strategy above all is to put Romney on his heels and make him seem incompetent, disshoveled and disorganized. They claim this is made possible most of all by the MSM’s willingness to cover everything negative towards Romney ad nauseum. And actually, they manage to do so without being openly complicit since they’re “condeming” the ads.
What Romney should do is an epic fail series in which ecomic failed policy after another is exposed folloewed by loud EPIC
FAIL.
Or show clowns trying to set up a ladder and it keeps falling over . Obama the clown. With sympathy sounds about how it’s not working. Or laughter at the futility.
I always love those incompetent people who make millions running businesses that they did not build. I also love those stupid people like Palin who laughs all the way to the bank for being stupid. Whereas the smart ones have to kiss ass and wheedle a hand out from politicians. Life in America is so unfair.
Exactly! It’s a ridiculous notion that Romney isn’t competent. But with the MSM media at their disposal, is it possible to portray him that way?
I sense Romney is not frazzled, which is key if indeed this is the obama campaign’s strategy.
Whether by design or not the ad gives the MSM a segue way into discussing the virtues of “free” health care since it at least implies the perils of relying on employers for healthcare. Heck. The Romney campaign fell for it. And Obama’s latest speech today was about health care and how it shouldn’t be a matter for employers to decide. Frightening the coordination between Obama and the MSM.
Why Team Obama Ran with the Dishonest ‘Mitt Killed My Wife!’ Ad?
They knew, but the TV audience do not. Obama lies all the time, why stop now?
This may sound nasty, but I wish those who vote for Obama in 2012 lose their jobs right after they casted their votes. The employers who did not build their businesses may decide to hang onto their life savings than to risk all they have running a business they did not build.
It does not need to come to violence or secession. I doubt anyone will read down this far, but here’s what will change everything.
Stop.
Everything: commerce, work, travel, shopping for three days, the first time. One day a week afterward. It would drive the authorities nuts. Pure nonviolent demonstration.
It would work.
You know what? I decided today that people on the left know all this sort of thing is one big fat lie, and they just don’t care.
I’ve spent several years now thinking that my leftist friends and acquaintances (a) almost never hear or read any news that isn’t from a left source (which is true, and by their own choice), and/or (b) are simply to stupid to be able to put two and two together.
But today, after four years of trying to figure them out, I think I have: My leftie friends and acquaintances know perfectly well that these things are lies, but they just don’t care. For example: The notion that not paying for birth control via taxes means women have no choice or access to birth control. How could they possibly not be able to reason that out, and understand it to be a lie?
Well, I finally figured out today. They can reason it out. And they do. They are not stupid, or ignorant, or misguided. But they put absolutely zero value on truth, honor, fairness or fair play and they simply don’t care.
Whatever it is they want from having Obama president (or name any number of other lying leftists), they want that more than they care about honesty or logic. Even if what they want so badly is simply to be considered hip!
So I think: When someone has that little regard for truth, honesty, honor, etc. – then why should I trust them farther than I could throw them?
IT’S NOT WHO OUT-STRATEGIZES WHOM. IT’S WHO UNDER-BUNGLES WHOM.
Very simply: Team Obama will continue to lie and hit Romney with all they’ve got hoping he will make a mistake by the way he answers. They hope this mistake will be big enough to make him lose the election.
IMO: Obama has already made such a mistake by saying, “You didn’t build that’.
The Soptic Commercial should be immediately identified by the Romney Campaign as a paradigmatic lie, the kind which characterizes every Obama Campaign statement, at least until proven otherwise by further vetting of the presumed lie.
All the Progressives really have going for them is tactical “perception is reality” lying/delusionalism. The Progressives know that if they can enforce this mechanism upon the Public, it controls “reality” and thought. That’s the payoff, and the Progressive [Communist] Leaders know it. According to this tactic, the truth is simply irrelevant.
In response, by means of highlighting the Soptic Lie [stat!] the Romney Campaign needs to try to make lying the first presumption on the part of the Public and Press in the case of any Obama Campaign offering, including those produced by any of its operatives and “friends”.
Anyone looking into such commercials, etc. – as CNN did – will be richly rewarded by finding a newsworthy story and the truth.
I’ve been using this rule for years, and it almost always works. Presuming that what Progressives say will turn out to be false is a much more knowledgeable way to approach their claims. And make no mistake about it: they certainly will never stop doing it!
Except for forums like this, news of the outrageous Soptic ad is not getting out. The Obama campaign feels that they can act with complete impunity, knowing that the press will cover for them, and that any adverse comment will be limited to conversations in the choir room. The press cover is so complete that Barack Obama could go out and stick up a liquor store and we would never hear of it. Come to think of it, maybe he already has.
OK, that liquor store bit was a bit of hyperbole on my part, but there are worse things. Causing the deaths of two U.S. agents and over 300 Mexicans is worse than a liquor store robbery.
Most frightening of all, the Obama re-election “team” knows that there are a significant number of people in America that will spout talking points without interest in their veracity.
These minions have been conditioned by an ever-worsening education system that teaches government exam answers rather than the ability to think, reason, evaluate, and judge; and taught that political correctness is more important than honesty.
These are not problems that can be resolved in 90 days, and appear unlikely to be addressed by the Milquetoast Romney “team” that is consumed by responding to scandalous and fallacious claims from the Obama camp that knows that lies told frequently enough will eventually be believed by the gullible to be true.
Preston hit the nail on the head with the comment about David Dewhurst and the recent Texas runoff. In the two weeks before the runoff, Dewhurst began running a very similar ad with a woman whose son committed suicide after bad experiences in a privately owned youth detention facility. Because Ted Cruz had represented the company that owned the facility in a tangentially related matter, the ad implied, Cruz was defending the son’s murderers. (I have to say my jaw dropped when I first saw this ad. And they ran it A LOT.)
When the final votes were tallied, the early votes–many of which were cast before the negative ad had really penetrated–were less strongly in favor of Cruz than the votes cast on election day. In other words, the negative ads either turned voters away from Dewhurst or motivated Cruz voters to turn out.
When I first saw the Soptic ad, I turned to my husband and said, “Two words. David Dewhurst.” Let’s home the result is the same.
“The danger for the Obama camp is that they risk going over a tipping point. There is a point at which the negativity becomes absurd, and instead of depressing the opponent’s vote, angers the opponent’s supporters and draws the undecided over to the opponent’s side.”
What you described here are the ultimate wages of McCarthyism, which is what the Obama campaign and its Super-PAC alter ego have in flailing desperation resorted to: When people in general finally reach the “tipping point” moment and ask in disgusted dismay –
“You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?”
And they realize that they have answered the question when they asked it.
What we got in 2008 was “President Cool Hand Luke,” who bluffed his way all the way to the White House with what amounted to “A handful o’ nuthin.” The trouble is, it’s 2012, everyone at the table now knows that he’s still got the same handful o’ nuthin — and he knows that they know that he knows that they know — but he just keeps raising the ante anyway, with borrowed money and false bravado, hoping against hope that somehow if he just brasses it out they’ll blink and fold just like they did in 2008.
One thing that all experienced flim-flam men know is that they have to keep moving, because it’s only a matter of time before the rubes finally wise up. That has been the essence of Obama’s political ascent — he lies his butt off to get the job, then instead of doing the job he immediately starts lying his butt off to get the next higher job — because he knows that’s a lot easier than either doing the work he undertook to perform or lying his butt off to keep the job when it becomes apparent that he’s a walking, talking dictionary incarnation of The Peter Principle.
Call me a racist if you want, but what Obama reminds me of today is the Orangutan character from my childhood recollection of the movie, “The Jungle Book:” at one point near the end he breaks into song, lamenting that “I’ve reached the top, and had to stop, and that’s what’s bothering me!” Well, Obama wouldn’t be campaigning for re-election if there was a higher position to shoot for than President of the United States, but there isn’t. And that really bothers him, because for the first time in his life he has to sell himself on what he’s actually done, instead of bamboozling the weak-minded with wild, empty promises and unsealing his opponents’ divorce records.
“Sometimes, nothing can be a real cool hand.” And sometimes — especially when you’ve badly, arrogantly overplayed that hand — it can leave you hoping that you can run away from the table before everyone realizes that you’ve got no way to pay up when your bluff finally gets called. Small wonder that Obama and his minions are acting out the final, vicious moments of the cornered animal, for that is what they have become.
Given the “wife-killing” ad, should someone mention that Obama voted to let babies die if born alive during an abortion?
If the Cocktail Party Marxist from Chicago is reelected by the drones come Novemeber, there’s a distinct possibility the USA will slip into a state of cold civil war. If anybody wants a guide on how to fight that war, I suggest they try to get hold of an old scifi noveled titled WASP. It’s all about how small actions can accumulate and eventually drive your enemy crazy and finally defeat him. Read the book, but try to ignore some of the hero’s more violent actions. You want to put the lefty frog in slowly boiling water, not a fast burn.

WHY SOBBING JOE SOPTIC SHOULD BE THANKING MITT ROMNEY
.
Why should poor jobless bitter widower Joe Soptic be thanking Mitt Romney and singing his praises instead of bashing him as a greedy, heartless, murdering, jobs destroying GOP businessman? Because Romney and Bain prolonged the life of Soptic’s struggling company by 8 YEARS, and with it Soptic’s job. Indeed, if Romney hadn’t made the bad decision (a rarity for him) to help distressed and struggling GST Steel, Soptic’s unsalvagable company, it would have folded in 1993 instead of 2001; this means that the ungrateful pathetic lying Mr, Soptic would have lost his job sooner rather than later and with it a considerable amount of money: 8 YEARS OF WAGES.
