CNN host Piers Morgan wasted little time today to use the Colorado theater massacre to call for curbs on Americans’ Second Amendment rights. On Twitter this morning, Morgan has so far tweeted three times in regard to the tragedy. Shortly after 6 AM central, Morgan tweeted “Horrendous details from this Colorado cinema shooting. America has got to do something about its gun laws. Now is the time.”
About half an hour later, Morgan tweeted: “More Americans will buy guns after this, to defend themselves, and so the dangerous spiral descends. When/how does it stop?”
Twitter users reacted angrily, tweeting to Morgan to keep his opinions to himself.
But Morgan was not finished. Ten minutes later he retreated a bit, tweeting “Lunatics like this will always try and get guns. It should be 100,000 times harder than it is for them to do so. That’s my point.”
That was not the point of his first two tweets. Not even close.

Many Americans are shocked to find that even the cops do not carry guns.
As for Morgan – most of us in fly-over country are smart enough to know that when our gun rights are abrogated it’ll be the end of the other amendment rights – no more chipping around the edges like Zero and company is doing now. It’ll be a full frontal assault. And nary a peep will be heard from the RINOs either if I know them. Few except for the ‘real’ conservative congress-critters will step up to argue the point.
It’s not like fellow travelers in the security apparatus would ever troll for morons, arm them or pretend to arm them, and encourage them to street action.
And then blame the Right. False flag operations.

On a (slightly) more serious note – have you noticed how the multiple gunmen in the Florida internet cafe were stopped by a single armed citizen – but an entire theater of unarmed movie goers in Colorado were murdered by a single armed gunman?
Perhaps Morgan should contemplate why the Florida event turned out so differently than the one in Colorado?
If a few CCW holders had been seated in the front of the theater, there would have been far fewer deaths.
I fully agree. I carry – legally – and I feel that I could draw, aim, and fire in the time it would take to fire 2-3 semi-auto rounds. Figure the first shot, stuns the senses, second shot kicks survival instinct into high gear, by the third shot my hand is on the grip and the next 3 shots in quick succession will be mine – two to the body, one to the head just like I practice at the range. I strongly recommend that IF you CHOOSE to carry – go to the range at least once a week and fire 50rds. Practice draw and fire at 3yds and draw, aim, fire at 15yds. Each time – fire 3rds – two to torso, one to head. Never think that you will shoot to wound. In the EXTREME event (such as the case in point) that you actually fire in self defense – the danger is mortal and you are firing to terminate the threat.
Quite a few movie theaters have “no carry” signs posted. I believe in some states that you can ignore the signs but you may be asked to leave if they see a gun on you.
My heart goes out to all the victims of this horrible, senseless tragedy.
That being said, I can hardly wait to see how long it takes Piers Morgan or some other POS liberal talking head on CNN or PMSNBC to try to blame this on the TEA party, or the Oath Keepers, or some other conservative group.

Past preformance is a pretty good indicator of future behavior, so you knew that the MSM wovld almost immediately, before the blood was even cold, jump all over that meme; never let a crisis go to waste. It makes me sick that these media whores have so little respect for the dead!
It sounds to me like this nutjob prepared for the possibility that there may be armed citizens in the crowd, hence the teargas and body armor. No law whatsoever would have stopped someone this determined and prepared to do harm to others. Even a trained and armed police officer in the crowd would have had a difficult time stopping the shooter under these circumstances.
Good point. We are blessed to have numerous citizens who have been exceptionally well trained in the use of firearms (military/law enforcement) that may have been able to curtail much of the mayhem (via CCW permits), but as you accurately note, he (shooter) was obviously determined and had planned accordingly. Nothing could have prevented him from causing serious damage.
Liberals will use any opportunity to push their agenda and will make up something if need be. Still, to tell someone to keep their opinions to themselves when you subscribe to their twitter feed seems disconnected.
Better that we know their views so we can defend against threats to our rights before its too late.

Well Piers, it would have stopped after the tear gas grenade if someone in the theater has had a weapon of their own and yes I know about the body armor but return fire might have allowed people to escape and time for law enforcement to arrive. Yes more folks will buy and carry guns after this and more bad guys will die or run away instead of killing innocents. Seems this bad guy may be one of yours. The UK has some insane gun laws. There is a farmer named Tony Martin who had his house broken into ten times. In August 1999, he was home alone when two men broke in. Martin fired three loads of bird shot at the intruders, wounding one and killing the other. Mr Martin, the victim, was convicted of MURDER and sentenced to life. In the US he would receive two paragraphs in American Rifleman’s Armed Citizen.

Thousands of people are dying every day in car and bus accidents worldwide. In the United States alone over 300 people will die in car accidents today. Should we not think of banning cars and busses?
