Gotta love the Daily Mail, which headlined its story based on this single photo, “Do NOT Steal This Woman’s Towel.” Good advice, especially on Friday the 13th.
I realize hardly anyone will read this, but here’s the DM‘s explanation for why a bikini-clad young woman might carry an automatic rifle on a beach. Besides the obvious purpose of intimidating excited drunks, anyway.
Some internet users were perplexed as to why the woman in the photo would be at the beach with a rifle- which does not appear to have a magazine loaded – but not in her uniform.
But other users were quick to point out there could have been practical reasons for the solider to take the weapon to the beach.
Under Israeli military regulations, if members take their weapon out from their military base they must keep them near at all times.
Punishments for losing or misplacing a weapon can include time in a military prison.
I’m shocked that we’ve beaten Neil Cavuto to this story.

Obviously a photo in need of a caption contest!
Bikini clad and carrying a gun? I’m in love. Or something like it.

You’re welcome.
Coming up next on PJTV: Two more reasons why the Jihadis can never win.
I am standing at attention and saluting right now!
It is always gets a reaction from Americans like myself to see all of the young soldiers walking around doing ordinary things with military rifles like that. Also the many security people in ordinary clothes with pistols openly displayed.
I asked about that and the explaination is as above. Recruits are required to keep their weapon with them at all times. The idea is a sort of “eat with it, sleep with it” until it becomes so familiar to you that it feels like a natural part of your body.
Gun laws there are much more restrictive as I understand it. To get a non military permit to own a gun you must pass through hoops to show that you need one for your job ( tour operator for example) and then you can get one specific to your job ie pistol or rifle. You need to have a psych evaluation and show competency at the range.
Overall I felt much safer there. Guns are more open so you know who has one. You also know that all of those with one are trained and tested. People there are more knowledgable and comfortable with firearms and have a different attitude than here.
I know trauma medicine. Most of what I see here in US from gunshot injury are stupid mistakes by gun owners which would not occur in someone with proper training and experience. Those events are rare in Israel. There is still crime and illegal weapons but hard to get there.
I am an American and have some guns. Mrs. Spindok and I go to the range to shoot . She frustrates me because she can hit better with the .22 browning better than I can with less practice. It is not something we do every week but something more like a fun activity on a slow Sunday morning.
Anyway don’t want to get too serious. The photo is awesome and I think she is just showing off for the camera— to’dah.
I’m certain she has a loaded magazine tucked away somewhere in that outfit.
Just another important reason as to why I fully support Israel!
If the jihadis had their way, such beauty would be wrapped up under a blanket!
This, of course, must never be allowed to happen.
Oh, and this photo is yet further proof that God IS male – as he made women look so awesome, but has a rather twisted sense of humor sometimes…lol.
Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize.
Guns. Chicks. Bikinis.
Repeat.
– and packed. Hat tip to G. Gordon Liddy; deserved face slap for sexism courtesy Laura Ingraham.
As an Israeli I tell you, no, she is NOT on patrol. Nobody is on duty in the IDF in bikini… what probably happened is much simpler: she just got home leave from her base and wanted to go to the beach before she went home. Since it is (correctly) drilled into you that your rifle must be with you AT ALL TIMES unless it is in a locked cabinet or the like at home, she carries it with her even on the beach. A bit unusual, even in Israel — but the reason is, “sheesh, couldn’t she put it at home first?” and not “OMG a bikini babe with a gun!!!”. Somebody walking around with a gun in Israel? Sort of like someone wearing a suit in the USA. Nobody gives it a second look (except for the tourists, as they desperately fail in their attempt to look local…
)
yup hes right.^^^
When we were in the army, as combat soldiers we could ride buses for free without uniform and if we had a weekend pass we often went out to bars to drink and such with our rifles (me, a flatop with a grenade launcher.)
I’ll differ slightly on the reason, for us it was always to impress the girls, although I see now how rediculous we looked. I was never worried about leaving my rifle at home. (Ususally stashed under my matress at the foot of my bed.)
I learnt my lesson when on the saturday before my sister got married I was invited to the Kind David hotel for lunch and they wouldnt let me come in with my rifle. I hate that snotty nosed hotel.
Regardless of the reasons posited above – I am so cool with it.
Just hope it does’nt give her too weird of a tan line.
There’s a rifle in that photo? Really?
I’m shocked that the IDF doesn’t issue bikini uniforms.
1) The woman in the orange bikini is way hotter.
2) Spindok, I have known a few people who have a ton of training and experience, yet have managed to accidently shoot themselves, or had a negligent discharge.
They can keep their restrictions and your approval of them.
Ask yourself, “How far do I commute to work each day?” or “In running my errands each day, how far do I drive?”
At its narrowest point, Israel is only about eleven miles wide. If an Arab army were to invade, how long would it take to traverse eleven miles? The answer dictates that the Israeli army must be armed and ready at all times.
A large portion of America is incredibly, and unreasonably, fearful of guns. For some, to even approach or touch an unloaded gun lying on a table is the comparable to approaching a live rattlesnake. Many Americans have more fear of unloaded guns than they do of their cars. Which kill more in any given year?
As a practical matter, drivers education is a universal part of young people’s lives. So should be firearm safety instruction. Because I am a gun owner, I have educated both of my children, now adults, about firearm safety. Both have taken state approved firearm safety classes and have firearm safety certification.
Even if you choose not to formally educate your family members, you must insist that they learn four things. First, one must assume that any gun you come across is loaded, no matter what someone else may tell you. Secondly, you must never point a gun at a human or an animal unless you are willing and intending to kill. Thirdly, when handling a gun, you must be ever aware of the direction you are intentionally or unintentionally pointing it. Fourthly, handling a gun and drinking alcohol or using drugs is an extremely dangerous combination.
Violating one or more of these rules is the usual cause of unintentional gun deaths in America.
This reminds this Gentile of college when even his female friends from the local Hillel admitted that Israeli girls were hotter than they.
Nifty suppressor there, on the end of her rifle…..
