I Don’t Expect to Read Anything More Badass Than This Paragraph All Year
Ann Coulter quotes from the book Negroes With Guns by Robert F. Williams in her column recounting the courageous battles Southern blacks fought to defend themselves against the KKK with the help of the National Rifle Association:
In the preface to “Negroes With Guns,” Williams writes: “I have asserted the right of Negroes to meet the violence of the Ku Klux Klan by armed self-defense — and have acted on it. It has always been an accepted right of Americans, as the history of our Western states proves, that where the law is unable, or unwilling, to enforce order, the citizens can, and must act in self-defense against lawless violence.”

I have a distant cousin who also wrote about this in a book called “praying for sheetrock”. Her husband was a lawyer in the deep south during the civil rights days, and experienced first hand how just the presence of firearms kept the klan away.
Should we start a pool on who would be the first “Progressive” pundit to refer to the two people above as “Uncle Toms”?
Here’s the really funny thing that I didn’t mention in the blog post: actually dig into Williams’ history during and writing the book and you’ll see he wasn’t a conservative at all. Later he was actually a communist who spent years living in Communist countries.
His bad judgement in that doesn’t negate the fact that he’s right in this.
I knew a college student who (out of scheduling necessity) took a womyn’s studies course. She did a term paper on Harriet Tubman. Kind of an obvious feminist role model, no?
Wrong. The “prof” flipped. Harriet Tubman was on the major uncool list for being so “violent”. Wouldn’t accept the paper. Told her to write another on on someone who wasn’t a “gun nut”.
You can’t assume anything about who is approved by the left and who isn’t.
“that where the law is unable, or unwilling, to enforce order”
The problem is that the race hustlers/baiters like Sharpton have determined there is no order, that the law hasn’t punished Zimmerman yet, so they have the right to. I agree that guns are an important aspect of personal safety, but when you have people whose ideas concerning justice and order are so a$$backwards (like Obama and Holder) then a great deal of trouble is brewing.
While Sharpton and the NBPP may claim the right to restore order in the western vigilanti tradition (also claimed by the KKK), the constituted law and order system must proves them wrong by protecting Zimmerman and providing a fair trial. If that doesn’t happen, then we have a whole new topic of discussion.
It’s an historic fact that the origins of gun control legislation are rooted in the efforts of southern democrats to deny blacks the right to own guns after the civil war.
If blacks clearly understood their own history they would be voting 95% republican instead of the opposite.
Ironically it was the original Black Panther Party which made the most noise about blacks having the right to arm themselves.
Yeah, go ahead and lionize all the poor black darling pets of the liberals, while 35000 white women are sexually assaulted by black each year in the USA vs virtually zero black women raped by white men. But I choose to remember the two young white colleges students raped and murdered in the Knoxville Horror, I remember Mary Strait, 90 years old woman and great-great grandmother, raped and murdered by a young black thug (looks like Obama’s son), I remember Eve Carson, president of the student body at UNC, kidnapped, forced to empty her back account by two car-jacking young black thugs and then killed by a 12-guage shotgun blast to the head. I remember beautiful white Brittany Watts of Atlanta, gunned down in a parking garage by a black security guard who admits killing her because “she’s a white woman”.
So go ahead an lionize the tiny number of black victims of white on black violence from 100 years ago while you ignore the yearly slaughter of whites in a wave of hate crimes by blacks which has gotten much worse with our Marxist president in the white house. Go ahead, you right-liberals, you are just as PC as the left.
And this has exactly WHAT to do with correcting the historical narrative on gun bans?
David:
GREAT pickup, thanks for sharing it. I am forwarding and linking by all means at my disposal.
Thanks for your support, Mark.
I totally support gun ownership for self-defense, but not without training! The two untrained hotdogs in the photo don’t advance the cause. Tell them to get their fingers off the triggers!
Martin Luther King owned a gun – but then, he was a Republican.
