Will There be a Demonstration in Iran Today?
The Greens have called for a “silent demonstration,” and the Syrian opposition has supported it, of course. It seems like a long shot, but during the night there were renewed calls from the rooftops of Tehran of “Allah is great,” and “Death to the Dictator,” and “Freedom for Mousavi and Karroubi,” the two imprisoned leaders.
Certainly not the sort of Valentine the supreme leader might hope for.
Whatever happens, the Green Movement will undoubtedly be remembered as the most artistically elegant in a long time. Have a look at their latest video, for example.

I watched the video; I grant that I’m not visually oriented, but is there some sort of crib-sheet for a clueless American?
Not sure I understood the video, but these people appear to be brave…sitting ducks. Westernized Iranians living in that country with an American president that is ambivalent, hell, dismissive of this grass roots movement does not bode well for them.
A better president would possibly produce a better outcome, but I fear for these people. Obama would rather give $800 million to the islamist arab spring movement.
And it makes me sad that I don’t know how to save the Iranians from their government and my own government would rather speak with their future slaughterers. I wish how to save Americans from their own government at this point.
Like the Greens, I do what I can.
Nothing good happens to people anywhere on earth when America has a president like this.
It’s an interesting video. Lots of cell phones. Not many oldsters. Jail bars in every shot.
And something that seems unusual: a Christian couple praying and singing. It is the goofy looking guy with a guitar. Homely, ordinary looking to my eyes, but it has to be conspicuous in a video from that part of the world.
“Valentine”. Good one, subtle.
