The internet is all aflutter with news that a Department of Justice press spokeswoman screams profanity at reporters. They should have been reading the Tatler, for we reported on this months ago. The guilty harpy is Tracy Schmaler of the Office of Public Affairs. Schmaler led the dishonest defense of the DOJ regarding the New Black Panther dismissal and is known to lose her biscuits whenever the panther case is mentioned. Now she is covering up Fast and Furious. I suggested months ago to Eric Holder here that he needs to get her under control. Guess he didn’t take my advice.
Out of control seems to describe the entire DOJ, top to bottom.
How can this behavior possibly help the DOJ or Holder? Screaming and swearing at reporters just makes them suspicious, it confirms they’re onto something with the story they’re pursuing. It makes them dig harder. It also leads them to create a story out the screaming and swearing itself. And their rivals sniff blood in the water and start to circle the story themselves. This is just plain, counterproductive incompetence. Any sensible boss would show her the door. That’s why I assume she’ll receive a grade promotion or at least a big step increase and merit bonus by year’s end.

Reporters, perhaps. But not journalists. And certainly not journalists who traffic in “access”, like the Washington press corp.
I’ve been in media relations for 25 years, including 4 years as an agency press secretary at the state level…and I have NEVER–not once–treated reporters (or anyone, for that matter) in that way. Schmaler needs to go.
It’s as if the political Left recruits directly from blue-state middle schools. =^[.]^=
