Mitt Romney to Skip Key Iowa Straw Poll

The Wall Street Journal reports on on the front page this morning that former Massachusetts Governor Mittt Romney will skip Iowa’s Ames Straw poll in August. The Journal describes the Iowa’s straw poll, held in Ames, as a key early test and reminds readers that Mitt won the Ames Straw Poll in 2007 before pulling out of the Ames Straw Poll in 2011. Romney’s play for the social conservative base fizzled in 2007 and he ultimately placed second to Mike Huckabee in the 2008 Iowa Caucus.

So is this the latest Mitt-flop? In 2007, as the Journal report concludes, candidate Romney chastised both John McCain and Rudy Giuliani for skipping the Ames Straw Poll. Romney said, “If you can’t compete in Iowa in August, how are you going to compete in January when the caucuses are held?”

With his track record changing position for political expediency, one has to wonder why he won’t change his position on the disastrous experiment known asĀ RomneyCare.

Romney Care affirms that Romney is the “I’ll protect Progressive intitiatives,” “me-too,” “I’m safe” Republican that the nomenklatura can support and a Republican everyone can love (except Republicans). If he wins the nomination, he will win the election. That means he has “the Big Mo” of momentum.

Liberals fear that Romney will be able to make a strong case against re-electing President Obama!
