I want to state this unequivocally for those who are just tuning in: Truthers, Birthers and, now, Deathers are crackpots, wingnuts and feeble-minded fools who find it easier to see vast, sinister and complex conspiracies where simple truths are the lone reality.
And while Truthers are probably the most active and vocal group (thank you, Ron Paul (R-TX)), they, like Rep. Paul, are far from being a part of the establishment.
But now, thanks to an appearance by our very own Tony Katz on MSNBC, an establishment-wing of super-wingnuttery has been identified: The Racers.
Don’t like government spending? They’ll call you gun-toting racists.
Don’t think tax hikes will fix the economy? They’ll call you a tea bagging racist.
Protest Obamacare on Capitol Hill? They’ll call you an N-Word shouting racist.
And when crackpot worlds collide, like calling on the President to release his Birth Certificate … you’re a racist. Even though, in this instance, the establishment accuser asked the exact same question months earlier as the crackpot birther.
The problem – for America – with the Racer Movement is that it’s not a fringe movement. Bill Maher, Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Janeane Garofalo, NPR, the New York Times, CBS and all the other Race Card-loving individuals and institutions are part of the establishment. (Well, maybe not Garofalo & Olbermann anymore, but even the biggest circus has its clowns). The Racers are not a fringe movement that shows up at events to shout down ideological adversaries. The Racers have the power to destroy.
The Racers host television shows and the Racers run newspapers. Like Truthers, Birthers and Deathers, they can level their baseless charges. But unlike their crackpot brethren, they are the Manhattan-Beltway opinion makers.
And until now, the Racers have been able to get away with their behavior. But now the Racers have to contend with the likes of Andrew Breitbart and thousands of citizen journalists who are circumventing the mainstream media and taking simple truths to an audience that is tired of baseless accusations and complex conspiracy theories.
Need a primer on the Racers? Check out Tony Katz on PJTV.

Hey, nobody gets mad because they’ve been unemployed for two years and the rise in the price of gas means they’re losing money just driving down to the “funemployment” office and the rising price of food (partially because we’re making fuel out of it since the administration “greenies” don’t want to drill for oil except in Brazil) makes it difficult to indulge in the only hobby they can still afford, eating Twinkies while watching Judge Judy… NOBODY gets mad because of stuff like that so they must be mad because they hate the fact that a black guy is president!
Hey, they wouldn’t be complainin’ about this stuff if a white guy was president!
“Truthers, Birthers & Deathers Got Nothing on Racers”
Ain’t that the truth
Why are people being derided as “deathers” for using critical thinking in lieu of no real evidence, meanwhile those who went out into the streets to celebrate death, celebrating the death and hate of someone they know nothing about, they are not also “deathers”? So your country erupts in a celebration of death and hate and they are not called “deathers” America is so messed in the head.
Whoopi. Don’t forget Whoopi. Queen of the Racers. (She may even be a Speed Racer)
“I want to state this unequivocally for those who are just tuning in: Truthers, Birthers and, now, Deathers are crackpots, wingnuts and feeble-minded fools who find it easier to see vast, sinister and complex conspiracies where simple truths are the lone reality.”
A very Krugmanesque sentiment. Unfortunately wildassed opinions and ad hominem attacks do nothing to establish or even argue fact; they do little more than reveal bigotry, conscious or otherwise.
I do have to wonder what “simple truth” you have found which describes reality with such unerring accuracy, and what make of Ouija board you used to find it.
His simple truth is that the meme that any criticism of Obama is based on racism is crackpot nonsense. There is also a simple test to prove it. Assume that Gore won in 2008, and he proposed the same policies in his campaign, and did the exact same things that Obama has done after he was elected. He would definitely draw the same criticism, but since Gore is white it would not be racist. So why should the same criticism of Obama be racist.
Assume that we had a white prez candidate, like McCain, and there was some doubt he was born in the USA (or Panama), and people demanded to see his birth certificate (some did). If McCain had refused to provide it (he did provide it) would the accusers be decried as wingnut birther racists, no. They would be regarded as people having a legidimate doubt and asking a legidimate question.
This meme that any criticism of Obama must be racist is enormously destructive. If accepted, it would lead to a situation where a president would no longer be subject to criticism, an extremely destructive situation. The racers are not only deluded and wrong, they are extremely dangerous, and the fact that they are rife in the media and entertainment is even more destructive.
If somebody criticises Obama in a way that is directly relevant to his race, like implying that a black president is flawed in some way by being black, that might be racist, depending on the exact comment and context. But if you criticise Obama in a way that could apply just as well to a white, asian, or hispanic guy in the same situation, like calling him an america hating socialist, then calling it racism is a dangerous paranoid crackpot lie. The criticism might be wrong, or uncivil, but it would not be racist, and calling it racist is a dangerous lie. If you cant see that, then you are probably a racer.
“Don’t like government spending? They’ll call you gun-toting racists.
Don’t think tax hikes will fix the economy? They’ll call you a tea bagging racist.
Protest Obamacare on Capitol Hill? They’ll call you an N-Word shouting racist.”
Don’t like Ron Paul? Accuse him of being a truther.
And so, Owen, since he was plainly born as a British subject, and then adopted by an Indonesian, and ineligible to become a natural born US citizen due to his mother’s short time in the US and the US Code at his date of birth, what do YOU suggest Americans citizens should do about this situation?
Once Obama finally produced his full birth certificate, I’d say that question is settled. but before that, it was a legit question.
I definitely agree with your criticism of racers and truthers. They are definitely crackpots, with zero proof.
In the case of the deathers, it would be better to see definite photographic proof of the body, but I doubt if the SEAL team and the military would have willingly participated in a lie, and the Bin Laden daughter they left behind corroborated his death as well, even though she had no reason to sympathize with the US gov, so the deathers have no real case either.
The birthers had a better case, since Obamas refusal to take the relatively easy step of getting a copy of his full birth certificate was a little suspicious. McCain produced his full birth certificate promptly when his citizenship was questioned, why didn’t obama? But now that he has, that question should be settled as well.
Of all of them, I agree with you that the racers are the most dangerous, since many of them hold important positions in the media and entertainment, and should know better. And many people beleive what they say. They are the worste of the crackpots, with the weakest case, but also the only ones that have NOT been widely dismissed as the crackpots they are. The alternative conservative media has been the only one to call these people out as the crackpots they clearly are. But the conservative media is only beleived by conservatives, and some independents. So many in this country continue to beleive the crackpot lie, that any criticism of Obama is racist.
They will cry racism because either:(1) they’re too stupid to know what REAL racism looks like, or (2) they do know better, but “racism” is the last desperate arrow in their quivers. Unfortunately there are too manyyoung people who grew up being told they have racist attitudes behave as if they have to prove they’re NOT. Frankly, someone else’s racism, real or imagined, is HIS business.
If someone in the MSM makes this assertion I really wish they would be asked, “If Obama cut taxes and spending and implemented free market healthcare solutions would there would still be a Tea Party?”
Funny thing is they are crying racist when some of the people talking are black. That makes them racy, racers.
Way back when…not that long ago, really, you generally only got accused of being a racist if you were one. Now it seems all you have to do is raise an eyebrow at the extreme left in a political context and you are therefore automatically labeled as a racist. WTF, there sure are a lot of VERY stupid people out there.
I found an alarmingly easy way to sort it out, politically speaking. When somebody makes an accusation of racism , it is because they don’t have a winning response based on the facts, therefore their only remaining claim is racism. Why play the race card, the weakest card in your hand, if you have another card left to play? That is how you know you won the argument, case closed. Just smile and admit you are a racist, because you now know the revised definition, and you also know you won the argument.
