So, our president wants to be an even bigger bully than he already is?

“Mr. Obama has told people that it would be so much easier to be the president of China. As one official put it, ‘No one is scrutinizing Hu Jintao’s words in Tahrir Square.’”

Just so. China is a bully state. There’s no honor in being president atop a one-party authoritarian regime such as China’s. No one expects China to do anything but ruthlessly pursue its own self interests. That’s all China does, both at home and abroad. For instance, though China is right next door to Japan and the US is thousands of miles away, no one really expects China to help out much after the quake, but everyone knows that America will stand by her strongest ally in the region in her hour of need. At the moment America is cash poor, but we’re always compassion rich.

Perhaps Barack Obama is finally beginning to understand the weight and the honor of the job he has been entrusted with.
