The L.A. Times Should Release the Khalidi Tape for Passover
Passover 2012, which starts at sunset Friday, will not be a particularly auspicious one for the Jewish people.
Despite being superficially strong in many ways, Israel — the sole Jewish state — and Jews in general face more determined opposition than they have at any time since World War II. From terrorists in the South of France to professors at Boston’s Northeastern University, anti-Semitism is rife. Meanwhile, Iran, which repeatedly calls for the extermination of Israel, draws ever closer to nuclear weapons capability. And the once vaunted “Arab Spring” has turned into the darkest of winters with Egypt morphing into its own Sunni version of a Khomeinist Islamist autocracy with women in veils, Christians attacked, homosexuals jailed, and the peace treaty forged at Camp David fragile as a potato chip.
But have no fear. Our president “has Israel’s back.” Or so he says.
Others, of course, feel differently. Mindful of his odd behavior beginning when he was a candidate and promised to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem but took it back the next day, to his disrespect (both public and private) for Israel’s prime minister, preferring, as he does, Turkey’s quasi-Islamist leader, to the curious fact that one of the few countries in the Middle East and Europe that this peripatetic president has yet to visit is our ally Israel, one could easily be skeptical of Obama’s sympathy for the Jewish state.
At this moment, he and his minions seem to be doing their level best to rein in Israel vis-à-vis Iran, making sure Netanyahu & Co. dare not act for their own self-preservation without the approval of their powerful U.S. ally, an approval that is unlikely to be forthcoming – the most recent example being the leak of a possible Israeli military alliance with Azerbaijan.
So it’s hard not to see Obama as, to be polite, ambivalent toward the Jewish state; to be impolite, one could call his attitude passive-aggressive, with all the semi-conscious hostile intent that diagnosis implies.
And, to continue in that vein, plenty of clinical evidence exists, several old friendships, that would lead one to think Obama might be, again consciously or unconsciously, deeply antagonistic to Israel, because these old friends had attitudes toward Zionism as adverse as the appalling Holocaust–denying professoriate at Northeastern.
Which leads me to the Los Angeles Times and the Khalidi tapes.
I wrote in April 2010:
Rashid Khalidi — a Palestinian-American historian known for his strong pro-Palestinian opinions — is currently the Edward Said Professor of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia and director of that university’s Middle East Institute. After Khalidi received this Columbia appointment in 2003, a farewell dinner party was held in his honor in Chicago. A videotape was made of that party where many good things were said about the Palestinian cause and many bad things about Israel. Then Illinois state Sen. Barack Obama was in attendance, as were, some say, William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn.
That tape was given at some point by an unknown person to Peter Wallsten of the Los Angeles Times. Wallsten then reported on some of its contents in a brief LAT article of April 10, 2008 titled “Allies of Palestinians see a friend in Obama.”
Perhaps because it was so attenuated, that article engendered a cry for the release of the full tape. What really happened at the party? What was said? How did Obama react? People wanted to know more details of the Middle East views of the presidential candidate. But the LAT was effectively mum and sequestered the tape in its safe.
In response to a charge of suppression of information by the McCain campaign, the paper’s editor Russ Stanton said:
“The Los Angeles Times did not publish the videotape because it was provided to us by a confidential source who did so on the condition that we not release it. The Times keeps its promises to sources.”
Was this an oral promise made by the paper or by the reporter? Or was there a written agreement, as would be more proper and normal in such circumstances? The Times has not told us, nor have they produced a written agreement of any sort, even without the source’s name. We don’t know either whether a transcription is proscribed.
They have told us almost nothing. We have to take this all on faith, just as we do this risible comment by the paper’s “readers’ representative”Jamie Gold, quoted in the same article with Stanton:
“More than six months ago the Los Angeles Times published a detailed account of the events shown on the videotape. The Times is not suppressing anything. Just the opposite — the L.A. Times brought the matter to light.”
Detailed? Brought the matter to light? I am tempted to use the tired Internet acronym ROFLOL. But let’s examine Wellsten’s original article instead. It begins:
It was a celebration of Palestinian culture — a night of music, dancing and a dash of politics. Local Arab Americans were bidding farewell to Rashid Khalidi, an internationally known scholar, critic of Israel and advocate for Palestinian rights, who was leaving town for a job in New York.
A special tribute came from Khalidi’s friend and frequent dinner companion, the young state Sen. Barack Obama. Speaking to the crowd, Obama reminisced about meals prepared by Khalidi’s wife, Mona, and conversations that had challenged his thinking.
His many talks with the Khalidis, Obama said, had been “consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases. . . . It’s for that reason that I’m hoping that, for many years to come, we continue that conversation — a conversation that is necessary not just around Mona and Rashid’s dinner table,” but around “this entire world.”
And? Well, that’s about it. Wellsten doesn’t tell us much more from the videotape or the party other than:
a young Palestinian American recited a poem accusing the Israeli government of terrorism in its treatment of Palestinians and sharply criticizing U.S. support of Israel. If Palestinians cannot secure their own land, she said, “then you will never see a day of peace.”
One speaker likened “Zionist settlers on the West Bank” to Osama bin Laden, saying both had been “blinded by ideology.”
That’s it. No word of the details of how Obama reacted or what he really said, other than the short quote above.
Interestingly, that sole Obama remark, as reported by Wallsten, contains an ellipsis in the middle. After the then-state senator says the Khalidis had given him “consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases” comes a strategically placed dot-dot-dot. We don’t know what those blind spots and biases were and what he might have thought of them. Or how he might have changed. That, in Wallsten’s or some Times editors’ judgment, was best left on the tape.
So what are we to think? We have an administration that not only ascribes most of the Middle East blame to Israel, but also has banned “Islamism” and all related words, even “Islam” and “jihad,” from our national security documents. They’re completely gone. Indeed, even the Fort Hood massacre, so clearly inspired by Islamic extremism, has now been shifted into the comfortable category of the lone, angry killer.
That was what I wrote roughly two years ago. I also wrote a polite request for the Los Angeles Times to release the tape in the public interest. Not surprisingly, there was no reply, public or private, although I have written for the paper on several occasions (full disclosure: not recently).
Meanwhile, Passovers have come and gone and Barack Obama is running for a second term, making the usual play for the usually reliable Jewish vote, courting AIPAC and so forth, telling people what they want to hear.
But is that what he really thinks and how he will act in the moments of crisis almost certainly ahead?
Because of Iran, the relationship between the U.S. and Israel is more than ever a life or death matter – and a lynch pin in the global struggle for Western civilization.
Is too much to ask the Los Angeles Times – the hometown paper of the city with the fourth largest Jewish population in the word – bigger even than Jerusalem – finally release the Khalidi tapes for Passover 2012?
I am skeptical that they would have the courage but I will force myself to remain hopeful.

I wouldn’t trust that Marxist bastard as far as I could throw him. Sneaky like a thief in the night deceiving everyone but slowly entangling himself in his own BS. Is this man a traitor to our way of life?
I would call POTUS a Leninist anti-imperialist, and beloved by the anti-imperialist multicultural New Left generation, but not a Marxist, unless you incorrectly believe that black liberation theology is out of the Marxist playbook, which it is not. I wrote a chronology of the decline/ascendancy of “the West” here: http://clarespark.com/2011/10/24/turning-points-in-the-ascentdecline-of-the-west/. It might help others get their terminology straighter.
Noted, the black part I pass bye, but thanks.
Obama has failed to invite the leaders of the SBC to the Whiteblack House Easter Prayer Breakfast..BUT…AL SHARPTON IS INVITED”". This shows us Sharpton is an insider with his race baiting crap..and the SBC,the nation’s most populous Protestant denomination leaders are excluded??? PAYBACKS FOR EXPRESSING OPINIONS???
.
Obama said “Christ’s “triumph” in his crucifixion and how the story serves as a personal inspiration”..what he thinks about it an rolls over laughing to bolster his spirits that he is doing enough to bring America down?
I don’t think he has Israel’s back. Of course he may stab them in the back..he uses things like the crucifixion comment as backdrop to make him appear human..Israel had best get over depending on this administration except spit in the face.
Answer: NO. He doesn’t even have America’s back.
“Is too much to ask the Los Angeles Times – the hometown paper of the city with the fourth largest Jewish population in the word – bigger even than Jerusalem – finally release the Khalidi tapes for Passover 2012?”
Of course it’s not too much to ask, but you may as well ask for the moon. Should you do so, I fear you will see nothing more than the Times’ exposed buttocks.
Sure he has Israel’s back. The real question is which hand is holding the knife?
both.
Another question might be
WHERE IS THE BRAIN, HEART, SENSIBILITIES OF THE AMERICAN JEWS???? Surely they are not as ignorant as they appear in their voting preferences…????
seems they can’t tell the difference between the reich and the left…
Obama has publicly stated that he will get behind Israel when the SHTF …. I’m taking him at his word on that one. I’m not sure what’s happening to him at present but it seems like he’s unravelling before our very eyes. Hatred and bitterness for, and towards the man himself is understandable, but it is a hurtful thing for the soul of the country as a whole, and as such it is an abomination; we should not succumb to that. As far as asking the LAT for the tape? Yeah right, they’ve got a knife to their throat …. … what the hell are you thinking? Remember Bretbart? Did he really just drop dead? I think not, until I hear conclusive proof to the contrary.
Obama also said that if things became violent here in the US, he would “stand with the Muslims.”
Now THAT statement I can believe he meant wholeheartedly.
If the tape were innocuous, there would be no reason to request it be kept confidential. There is something on it that we “shouldn’t” see – ignorant peasants that we are, we wouldn’t see it with the appropriate nuance.
Many in Washington and Jerusalem may be shocked that former Egyptian intelligence chief General Omar Suleiman dropped out of the presidential race in the June Egyptian election. But I doubt the Obama administration is.
Does he have Israel’s back? Only enough to stick a knife in it. It no longer amazes me that people will still vote for this guy. There are those, in both parties, that would vote for satan himself, if he had the right party affiliation..
At this point, I wouldn’t trust anything that came out of the Los Angeles Times. Even if they released the tape, how could you know it was the full tape and not edited? It would almost be useless. What I like to deal in is facts, and what makes me really, really, concerned is this recent leak about a possible Israeli military alliance with Azerbaijan. This was a deliberate leak on the administration’s part to STOP any Israeli effort to bomb Iran, since Israel would need the air bases in Azerbaijan for various reasons, such as refueling or re-arming Israeli jets, or for bases for crippled Israeli jets to land at. Whoever “leaked” this story wants to make darn sure that the Israelis do NOT attack before the election. And for Obama to put his own re-election above the defensive military needs of a good ally like Israel tells you all you need to know about this guy. He would sell out his own mother for a second term. Disgusting.
Traitorous. Murderous. Evil. Words fail me at this betrayal. We watch helplessly as this soul-less cardboard figure betrays every moral tenet we have ever lived by.
Frankly, I am very skeptical that Israel was planning to use Azerbaijan for any large scale military purpose. Such an act would involve Azerbaijan in all sorts of unpleasntries with Iran. The whole Foreign Policy article seems contrived if not an out and out hoax. Remember both Tom Friedman and Freed Zarkaria and out and out charlatans. If they can get away with perpetrating nonsensical analysis year in and year out a no-name writer in a journal no one reads should have no trouble doing the same.
I think The One does “have Israel’s back”- by his own standards. But what are those standards?
First of all, he believes that all our problems with the Arab/Muslim world stem from Israel’s existence. He believes that if Israel would somehow vanish overnight, those problems would vanish with it. No, he is not a student of history, anymore than he is a student of the U.S. Constitution.
Second, he is a romantic where “Eastern” philosophies are concerned, which is a common malady with progressives and has been since the Beatles came back from India playing sitars and having kissed the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Rolls-Royce. He views the materialistic West as the source of all evil in the world, and Israel as an outpost of that evil, materialistic culture in the mystical, enlightened East. So he wants Israel gone for that reason, too.
Third, he is terrified that the Arab/Israeli confrontation will lead, not to nuclear war, but another Arab oil embargo. This frightens him because, while he would love to use such an embargo as an excuse for Draconian measures to ban automobiles and force us all onto public transportation powered by Holy Wind and Holy Sun, he suspects it would more likely lead to demands for greater use of our domestic resources like coal, oil, hydroelectric and nuclear.
Mainly from his own party. He believes he can stave off such demands from the GOP, or even the academics who haven’t climbed on the AGW/world socialism bandwagon with him, but a revolt in the Democratic Party would be something he wouldn’t have the help of his party in quashing.
As for his solution to the above, I strongly suspect he dreams of the Mideast ending up as it was prior to the Balfour Declaration in 1917, and Israeli independence in 1948. That is, a wholly Arab-ruled region, with Jews and Christians “living in harmony” with their Muslim overlords.
Of course, those who have actually studied the region’s history know that non-Muslims were subjugated, terrorized, and often murdered, on a regular basis by their “enlightened” rulers back then. But as stated above, he is not knowledgeable about actual history, as opposed to the Howard Zinn version.
I suspect he understands, intellectually at least, that such an “annexation” of Israel by, say, Jordan, could only come after the state’s political and military destruction, probably beginning with a nuclear attack from Iran, either directly (by IRBM) or by proxy (terrorist-delivered WMDs). And that such a destruction would entail the deaths of millions of Israelis, Jewish or otherwise.
I also suspect he simply does not care. Or rather, he feels that this is a reasonable price to pay for “peace”. Note that sociopaths as a rule are notably lacking in empathy, and most do not view persons other than themselves as being entirely “real”. As someone (Stalin?) once said, “One death is a tragedy, a million deaths are a statistic”.
As with so many other things, The One’s attitude on Israel is rooted in his fantasy worldview. Future historians will probably be able to write entire books on the process by which a man this delusional became President of the United States.
If we’re very lucky, such books will not be used in history classes concerning the fall of a no-longer-existing nation. Namely, us.
clear ether
eon
Thanks, eon, for saying this:
“Future historians will probably be able to write entire books on the process by which a man this delusional became President of the United States.”
Personally I’d hope that those books could be started right now. The essence of this Nation’s problem, right this hour, is that this Obama was elected via our established democratic processes.
Just how this Nation’s voters were so hoodwinked by such empty ephemeral “charisma”, augmented by a set of beautiful teeth such as Obama’s, simply begs for the closest possible examination by psychologists, even psychiatrists. The common sense of America’s voters is indeed in question and seems very vulnerable. How did this happen?
Elsewhere I’ve been using the term, “Orwellian” to describe our present Administration.
The dangerous fallout from this Administration will last long beyond this coming November, so it behooves all of us to understand how this democratically ensconced debacle occurred. Should the qualifications for voting in National elections be examined?
Let’s all pray that this Obama chameleon isn’t given the opportunity to nominate any more Supreme Court Justices.
Rising the voting age back to 21 would be a good first step in preventing the rise of another Obama. But the best way would be to re-elect him President. The harm he will cause will start to be felt by even his most delusional supporters. Perhaps after they feel the effects of massive inflation, a hemorrhaging economy and a massive decline in the quality of healthcare will the truth sink in.
Unfortunately even though will doubtless lose the popular vote, Virginia will give him the votes he needs to win the Presidency. It will signal the end of America as a force for good and freedom in the world.
“Just how this Nation’s voters were so hoodwinked by such empty ephemeral “charisma”, augmented by a set of beautiful teeth such as Obama’s, simply begs for the closest possible examination by psychologists, even psychiatrists. The common sense of America’s voters is indeed in question and seems very vulnerable. How did this happen?”
Perhaps now Americans can begin to understand how charismatic – but very bad – leaders can come to power democratically. Remember, Hitler too came to power democratically in 1933….
Very good comment, except that at the time of the Balfour declaration the Middle East was not a wholely Arab ruled area. It was primarily ruled by Turks, who while Sunni Moslem, are not Arabs. In important places the population wasn’t even totally Moslem. Lebanon was about 50% Christian; the plurality of Jerusalemites were Jewish, with Christians and Moslems spitting the rest; Egypt had a large minority of Coptic Christians, and Iraq had many Chaldean Christians.
It wouldn’t make a difference even if the tape had damning evidence in it.
Jews would crawl over broken glass to get to the polls to push the Obama button.
He will protect them from the evil Christians who inhabit the backwoods of flyover country.
Bertram,
The tape does have damning evidence. It would be released if there were no evidence. In the highly unlikely case of being released, it may sway just enough Jews to bring pivotal states to Republicans. Not all Jews are locked with the demoncrats though. 80% of the russian Jews vote republican, we saw tovarisch Barak Huseinovich Obama for what it was – a classical marxist/communist, a typical instructor from the agitation and propaganda department of the Chicago Oblast Committee of the CPUSA, when he was running for the POTUS. What a shame….
We also know who the true friends are – those “evil Christians who inhabit the backwoods of flyover country”, clinging to their guns and religion. I just hope that the red tide is stopped in 2012, because I am afraid the the Shining City on the Hill I came into 20-something years ago may deem its lights after four more years of comrade Obamaa and his coterie.
This is where I’m always torn. I love the Jews, their love of family, hard work, and stick togetherness.
It’s their misguided views on “liberalism” and a total misunderstanding of the democratic party.
But then I wonder , is it a misunderstanding and are they generally just lefties.
Why do I spend so much time worrying about Israel when they don’t seem to care.
I care about Israel because it is the right thing to do as a human being given the enormous gifts of that tiny state to science, medicine, water reclamation technology, agriculture etc.while their enemies produce only hatred and terrorism. They are also the only nation to stand tall among the sea of medieval thugs who aim to enslave the world while the rest of the West cowers in dhimmitude.
Many Jews are liberal-by-religion, but so are many Christians. Just as Christians have right-wing and left-wing denominations, so do Jews. Of course, a lot of Jews care so much about Israel, that feeling that God wants us to live there, we actually moved there. As did I, and I’m not even a Zionist.
Secondly, while it might be short-sighted of many American Jews to put what they (perhaps mistakenly) see as the good of their countrymen over their own people, it’s hardly something that American Christians can blame them for.
When Obama ran the first time, it really wasn’t clear what his opinions were about Israel, although most religious Jews knew better. Just remember: Florida.
I tell you who cares: Israelis. I’m one now, and I can tell you they are big fans of the US. Even when W turned against us, no-one even noticed.
Thank you for your support.
Baloney. The percentage of Jews who now say they support Obama is about half of what it was in 2008. You can argue that it should be far less but there are many months until the election and Obama’s arrogance and public bigotry are ever more obvious to all patriots who support a strong, prosperous America.
Everyone, just remmeber – just as (h/t to Ann Coulter for that) Elian Gonzales cost Gore the election, this may tip Florida enough to bring Obama down.
Roger,
I agree with all!!
I have believed for a long time that there is nothing that we think we know
about BHO is true. How does anyone KNOW that he did any of the academic, social, or personal things that he says he has done?? Where are the friends,
students, roommates, or a written note, diary entry, or even period at the
end of a sentance???
The ellipsis, the three dots, may have indicated the omission of a few concisely stated words, or it may represent a lengthy passage revealing a great deal of what Obama holds to be true about Israel.
Good thing, we all know that Obama is a man of few words. Good thing we can trust the editors of the LA Times to cull out unnecessary and unrevealing text. Good thing the main stream media routinely fights for truth, justice and the American way.
Roger, can’t you do something about these Obama ads? I can’t stand to finish your piece with Michelle staring at me. To be honest, it seem hypocritical to put up a piece like this and TAKE MONEY FROM THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN at the same time.
I second that.
Obama has Israel’s back the way Marcus Junius Brutus the Younger had Julius Caesar’s back. With a shiv.
Rashid Khalidi and Robert Malley are well known, Malleys parents giving him a lineage of particularly odious quality, if one has any love for the Jewish people.
Don Warden, Jeremiah Wright, the Nation of Islam, those who wanted to organize a second flotilla…(to follow along the lines of the Turkish first flotilla) all have a very, very, very deep connection to Obama.
The hard left hates Israel and America, has a real rage against those who follow the traditional Bible teachings and they see both countries needing to be “cut down a peg or two” at a minimum.
Obama is steeped in the virulent hatred that wafts from the pores of his closest advisors and mentors throughout his life against Middle America and Netanyahu and the Likud.
The Socialist Scholars conventions were thinly veiled assaults on both.
As for the LA Times, part of the PALM Press, (propaganda and lies machine), we have seen how NBC and ABC treated “evidence” in the Martin/Zimmerman altercation. They actively and with malice aforethought intentionally altered the facts in order to portray a lie within a pre-formulated narrative.
Altering documents, forging documents, burying key facts, photoshopping magazine covers, photoshopping scenes from the Middle East, staging scenes from the Middle East, distorting information…these are now all part and parcel of JournOlista presentation of “news” to anyone who bothers to swim in that cesspool of deceit any longer.
Whether Green Helmet Guy or Rather and Mapes or the LA Times secreting information or the Daily Duranty pushing communism like mental heroin, the PALM Press and their Duke 88 type friends in academia and the Celluloid Betrayal crown in Hollywood, we no longer can trust a single, solitary word that comes out of their mouths.
From “hide the decline” in science, to the ACORN/SEIU voter fraud factories…every element of our lives is filled with the information poisoned well. We can’t trust our information stream, it is corrupt and polluted and dangerous to our well being.
It still makes me laugh to read and hear people call the Propaganda and Lies Machine the “Mainstream Media”. If that’s the main stream, I don’t want to drink from it.
Or to call the radical, vicious, traitorous, treasonous hard left the “elite”, or “progressive” or “liberal”.
They are none of the above and we shame ourselves with complicity by giving them credibility and cover with those phony descriptors.
Israel and America are under assault.
This time next year in Jerusalem, if there is a Jerusalem. And, if there’s an America to depart from, both lands needing saving now.
Hope to see you here, Mr. Bleachers. You have a great mind and set of moral direction finders. Israel can definitely make use of both..
cf: You should post this somewhere as an article. Do you have a website or blog somewhere?
cfbleachers has been given the great distinction of being an officially listed contributor to PJ Media, and he (or she, or it) truly deserves it!
eon also deserves to be added to that honor roll, I think…
Cfbleachers, may I correct you on one tiny point?
You said, “….they see both countries needing to be “cut down a peg or two” at a minimum.”
If we are to be completely honest here, let’s not hold back the whole Truth, OK? In reality, there are only 2 kinds of people on this earth: Those who love the God of Creation (and Israel); and those who hate Him (in various ways, like refusing to admit He exists, or by living in what I call, “Opposite World,” where “Allah” is God and Yeshua is satan).
Now, if we admit all that, then we must say, …”they see both countries (America and Israel) needing to be ‘annihilated.’ Please, let’s not white-wash the Truth by trying to give them the benefit of the doubt.
The rest of your post is absolutely perfect. Thank you!
“As for the LA Times, part of the PALM Press, (propaganda and lies machine), we have seen how NBC and ABC treated “evidence” in the Martin/Zimmerman altercation. They actively and with malice aforethought intentionally altered the facts in order to portray a lie within a pre-formulated narrative.

Isn’t it amazing (I mean, abominable) — that in the USSR and other totalitarian systems — the “Press” had to be “suppressed” and “forced” to print lies by the government backed by force …. But, here and now … they’re volunteering to corrupt themselves.
Although portions of our Press have always been somewhat shifty, I don’t know how this evolved to this extent … it seems it’s never been this bad … It must be because it comes from our Universities … this … self-corruption.
Absolutely. What they teach in “Ethics” class is how to justify skirting morality.
That’s really all you need to know.
Perhaps the issue will be raised with the representatives of the Muslim Brotherhood currently visiting the White House. Obama is a serpent, and must be approached with that in mind.
Absolutely right, carla.
Obama=Muslim Brotherhood=Organization of Islamic States (OIC)=Hamas, Hezbollah, AlQueda, Taliban, etc.
Islam is Obama is Islam.
Islam is a plague upon the earth. In a sane world, Islam would be regarded as an organization with less credibility and honor than the KKK or Hitler and served notice, ‘Reform, recant and strike the sexist, racist, aggression from your texts and praxis or else leave the fellowship of nations.
Unfortunately, this is not a sane world. Our nation has become irrational enough to have voted this Islamist/Fascist into office.
Who is willing to deal with these facts?
Conniption Fitz (love the nic! LOL!),
Yes, you are accurate about Islam, but you don’t hit the core Truth. It all comes down to one simple Truth, but many have not ‘connected the dots’ yet.
If you were to place a Koran and a Bible next to each other and directly compare them (as former PLO terrorist Walid Shoebat did–search his name on YouTube n watch his videoed presentations), you would see that Muhammad used the Bible to create his religion by skewing every Scripture. What Islamists worship is NOT the God of Creation and Israel, but the created being that God gave the world as an alternative to loving Him. God created evil so we could recognize Good by comparison.
There are MANY Biblical Scriptures that speak of the alternative to Love, without being specific. Two are Ecclesiastes 10:2-3 and John 8:42-47.
My previous comment mentioning the likeness of Islam to a certain racial hate movement that fostered much suffering in the last century was moderated and removed. That statement is absolutely accurate and I do not apologize.
Breaking news – a rocket from the Sinai has hit the Israeli city of Eilat:
http://www.therightscoop.com/rocket-fired-from-egypts-sinai-peninsula-hits-israeli-city-of-eilat/
On every level, it is absolutely essential that the mainstream media do everything possible to protect Obama and his image! This includes making him look good by making up stuff about him, his record and any critic and hiding stuff that might make him look dumb, lazy, incompetent, criminal or mendacious. The role of the American media with respect to Obama is exactly the same as the role of the North Korean media with respect to that country’s ruling family.
That is the ONLY “journalistic” concept that the LAT need be concerned about!
When Israel has to fight unfortunately, our President who says we have Israel’s back will dither and bring the whole thing to the UN hoping that it will be a unified help. Hillary will be in charge to get countries on board, so it does not look like we are the evil empire against muslims. Israel will be on it’s own for some time. That is the only conclusion I can come to based on his past actions. To be honest if the Jews of America vote for Obama again I’ll be shocked.
HaShem has Israel and Israel has HaShem. Chag Sameach! This, too shall pass.
My point of view in a story-
Here’s a story to illustrate God’s wisdom: Once there was a man who asked God for a flower and a butterfly. But instead God gave him a cactus and a caterpillar. The man was sad. He didn’t understand why his prayer was not answered. Then he thought, “Oh well, God has too many people to care for,” and he decided not to question. After some time, the man went to check up on the cactus and the caterpillar. To his surprise, from the thorny and ugly cactus, a beautiful flower had grown. And the unsightly caterpillar had been transformed into the most beautiful butterfly. What is the lesson that we all can learn from this simple story? It is that God always does things right. His way is always the best way, even if it seems all wrong to us. If you asked God for one thing and received another, trust Him. He will give you what you need at the appropriate time. What you want is not always what you need. Today’s thorn is tomorrow’s flower.
Recall also during the 2008 campaign that Obama was asked about Khalidi at a Florida event for a Jewish group. He minimized his relationship, just as he did when asked about Bill Ayres. Makes you wonder…
not Passover … a Purimshpil, but I doubt the LA Times wants to play Queen Esther
The only way that Obama has Israel’s back is either to pay a target on it or to put the knife in.
I am confident that meant what he said ‘I have Israel’s back’. How else could he stick a knife in it?
Funny that the L.A. Times is so scrupulous about security in this case. One has to wonder if they would give a matter of national security such treatment if disclosing the secret redounded to the benefit of a liberal cause?
Roger; Surely you jest. Despite the irrefutable anti-semitism/zionism of Obama, the overwhelming majority of American Jews will vote for Obama. Do they think it
will show that, unlike the accusations, they do not have dual loyalty?
“I have always said that left wing Jews would vote for Hitler if he ran as a
progessive Democrat.”
EthanP, I of course take your point… BUT… times are changing, if only slightly. Obama got over 70% of the Jewish vote in 2008. Now he is polling at around 60%. If that can be pushed own even a tiny bit further, he probably loses Florida. So I do my best.
As the old Zen saying goes, “You can’t get there by trying but you won’t get there if you don’t try.”
Republicans need a better ticket than last time. That is really “tuches often tish” (lit. ‘butt on the table’ yiddish for “give me your offer – no BS”)
So far does not look so awesome. I am one of those Jews who wants to vote Republican. So far my plan is do not vote for president at all. I am tired of getting blamed when this is what the GOP gives us.
spindok
How does not voting help? Do you honestly think Mitt Romney would pull half the totalitarian-leaning crap Obama has?
I get the point. I want a better opposition to the Democrats than what is offered.
Call me an independant voter from Ohio. Maybe by not voting I might get my own voice heard.
Republicans need to do a better job. The party is split in more ways than it can handle.
If the bottom line is “we are something other than Obama” I think long money goes with Obama. That is not going to sit well with many people here but I just do not see a viable alternative.
So, learning is not easy. Republicans do not need to sell me as much as they do my children.
How can you say such an oxymoronic thing as: “Maybe by not voting I might get my own voice heard” ?
Such thinking-avoidance is what got this Obama chameleon elected in the first place.
I agree.
It is a mistake to think of something you do “for yourself” — it is something you do for your country.
If America’s Jews vote en masse for Obama after witnessing Obama’s slithering then they’ll have no one to blame for Israel’s betrayal by “the American Voters” than themselves.
It’s funny how Obama’s supporters do not see the convuluted duplicity and probable cause for cohersion in contrasting how in some places statues are erected of this president as a child, yet a supposedly harmless tape of him at some party is locked away.
Kb, there is a clear explanation for all of this in the Bible (amazingly enough!).
Read Ecclesiastes 10:2-3. Shockingly accurate!
There are just some people who refuse to see, nor acknowledge, the Truth–they will believe ANY lie they hear instead of the Truth. Jesus even addressed this, Himself, in John 8:42-47.
Yes, the Bible answers every question–even the ones we ask NOW. It’s all part of the miracle of God and His Word.
Catherine, I’ve read the Bible, but those verses were refreshed in my mind already when I looked them up after reading what must have been your post on another article. Keep up the good fight.
It has always been one of the most profound mysteries of my life; how Jews could support the Democrat party or statism, socialism, or any other *ism that destroys freedom and reduces people to enslaved chattel. And I know the support is from more than the non-religious JINOs or apostates. From a religion that is quite conservative, with Hebrew itself as the greatest testament to conservatism, how does this evil, such as socialism, emerge?
Why are you so amazed? Don’t you know that apostasy has always been the worst of the Jews’ problems ever since they left Egypt?
Roger:
I think you meant, “in the world” rather than “in the word.”
Bunker busters on the way to Israel? Check (BTW, W didn’t allow them to be sent)
Aerial refueling capability on the way to Israel? Check
Austere Challenge 12 rescheduled for October? Check
I guess BHO is a Muslim Israel hater after all….
AGAIN…we have sooooooo much evidence that our President is a fake, a non-American, and an expert at subterfuge. BUT AGAIN….No one in authority does a thing about it.
The Khalidi tape will have to be stolen; or, at least, someone should take it out anc copy it, and release the copy.
Ah yes, the Khalidi tape, aka: the reason I ended my 25+ year subscription to the Tribune Company’s Chicago Tribune.
OK. listen up. Not all Jews are socialists, progressive, or liberals. We do not all live in cities, do not all vote Dims, and we do not all “crawl over broken glass” en masse, lemmings to a suicidal cause. What you see is not all you get. It is, however, what you are shown. After all the rants re MSM in other areas, please think abt this, and judge accordingly. Orthodox communities for example, hardly ever showcased, are not fooled.
I find it ironic that a people who have never agreed on anything internally (we are the original “republic” of religion), for whom internal debate and disagreement are more than an art form, and are literally a religious experience, continually all get lumped together under one shredded, leaky umbrella.
I for one, live in the country (hence my screen name), love my tradition, and own weaponry. And I did not vote for Obama, and have been speaking against him since 2007.
In fact, I think more Jews will not vote at all this election (rather than vote R, sadly) – I think the votes that need to be counted are not only the ones cast, but the ones that will be missing.
I hear this multiple times a day:
http://righttruth.typepad.com/right_truth/2012/04/i-cannot-stand-him.html
Yep, the dark recesses of the web (including PJM) are full of shit like this.
In what way, pray tell, is the above diatribe inaccurate or incorrect? Please be specific.
Now you sound like a leftist, “I don’t want to hear this, so it’s wrong!”
One is too hard on President Obama. One should postulate the men pulling his string behind the scenes. Obama is not the man moving America in any direction any more than promoting him to a 4 Star General and sending him off to direct a battle. Others are calling all of the shots.
this is a great report, i look for reports about Israel, first in PJM….I sure am glad to see more people are feeling the same feelings as i do…..It is all one can do to refrain from screaming about what a sorry SB this evil man is…And i do agree i look at moschell on the right side of page, and have to hold my hand over her ugly pooch, while i speed read past her…..Pleeeeeeezzzzzzeeee Mr Simon
Funny article. Sure, antisemitic activity is rising and Jews around the world are under the gun. But, this doesn’t matter to American Jews, the vast majority of whom continue to vote commie. American Jews are so stupid they support Obama by a large margin. I guess Israel doesn’t matter to them as much as their communist ideology. I have little sympathy for those fools. Israelis, on the other hand are strong, not weak minded sell-outs like their American cousins. And, in the absence of American support under Obama’s rule, they can and are making other arrangements. For instance, their deals with Azerbaijan, etc. With that newly discovered gas field in the Mediterranean, Israel can make arrangements with Russia and/or China to extract and protect it. Real politic beats a commie president anytime. Won’t be long before Europe and even the U.S. will need Israel more than they need us. In fact, Israel already doesn’t need the U.S. Chew on that, commie scumbags.
Calling Jews stupid? Maybe you should look in the mirror if you want to accuse someone of anti-Semitism.
From The Obama Timeline: “…appearing as entertainment at the Khalidi dinner is a children’s dance group, the Sanabel AlQuds Dabka troupe. The Milwaukee-based Muslim children’s dance group typically performs the “debka,” a Middle-Eastern dance. The group’s performances have been known to include simulated beheadings with fake swords, and stomping on American, Israeli, and British flags. It has been alleged that, in his speech at the Khalidi dinner, Obama states “Israel has no God-given right to occupy Palestine,” and there has been “genocide against the Palestinian people by (the) Israelis.”
Maybe if the Khalidi tape gets released, Obama will have to do something drastic to get reelected, like bomb Iran.
Yes, yes, yes!!! More, more articles about this!
Everyone should be talking about it — and asking about it. There must be something very damaging on it, or there’d be no reason to “hide” it. Transparency!!!
Especially after the O’s talk with Medvedev and his desire to hide his true intentions until after his “last” election and his coming “Flexibility” … We have a right to know what’s in that tape!!!
What will prove to be the O’s truly “Flexible” stand in the future on Israel — What is in the Tape that he can’t allow the citizens he represents to know about or he’d lose the election?
Did he perhaps lead a chant of “From the River to the Sea – Palestine will be Free!”?? We don’t know, do we?
Release the Tape! Release the Tape! … ought to be the chant!
The O should be questioned about it.
Romney — should ask him about it – over and over.
All those foolish Jewish organizations that still support the O! They need have this pushed in their noses — so they’ll be forced to think!! What is the need for it to be hidden, if not something very damaging?
Please get Donald Trump to rave about it — much more than he’s done so far. Every time he’s interviewed! He should demand it be released! (Even if that never happens — the denied demand will wake people up to the secrecy.)
Committees dedicated to this should be formed.
All the talk shows should be asking about it — after all — if it’s innocent — why shouldn’t it be released?
They’ll call us the “TAPERS” … after the “Birthers” and the “Truthers.” Good. I’ll be glad to wear the badge of a Taper!
Maybe someone should make up a badge — a yellow patch!!
It should say “RELEASE THE KHALIDI TAPE!!”
Nothing the O says has any relation to the truth — the truth of reality or the truth about his feelings and intentions. He has no respect for the truth. Even when what he’s saying happens to be true (once in a rare while) — he’s only saying it because it seems to him that particular truth will serve his purposes.
It’s hard to accept this — of course it is. But there’s no doubt about it. It was clear even before he ran for president — to anyone with an eye on him. And should be more than obvious to everyone now. It’s easier to count the numbers of anything he has said that was true, than what was not.
What will he do once he can be more “flexible?”
Anything that he can get away with.
If the Senate keeps its majority, there won’t be any chance for impeachment. He’ll be safe to do as he wants. Nothing further to say about the MSM. They’ll back whatever he does, and try to keep the public ignorant as possible.
… “semi-conscious hostile intent” ???
What makes you think it’s “semi”-conscious? That’s only your wish — It’s understandable … still looking for any semblance of the “best possible.” It’s so ugly to expect the worst.
But his hostile intent is clearly conscious.
My distopian vision of what will come?
Iran will get the bomb, of course. But I wonder if they’ll have to use it. Threats will suffice.
There will be riots in Israel and “people” attacks from all directions — and from within. As Israel has to defend itself — the outcry will be what? “Responsibility to Protect” as was used in Libya.
The O will “Lead from Behind” — and Israel will be attacked by the whole gang — including us.
There will be an outcry from Americans — they’ll be maligned and branded “racists” or “Israel Firsters” or something else — even less serious attention paid to them than to the Tea Party.
That’s what I think will happen. Who would dare say or think such a horrendous thing? Certainly not Israel … and what could they do about it anyway? But it’s in the cards — with nothing to stop him. If he wins a 2nd term.
If he has any personal “dreams” for his “legacy” — I believe one of the main ones — (it’s so crystal clear from everything he’s done, only one of which was going against Mubarak and encouraging the M.B.) is to “Liberate Palestine” — and we all know what that means … Destroy Israel.
It’s not impossible — just look at how dispicable he’s being here at home — to win his “election” and “transform” America.
The list is abominable. Never before has any president ….
My Email To the LA Times:
Headline of article/post: Khalidi/Obama Whitewash
URL of article/post: http://articles.latimes.com/2008/oct/29/nation/na-video29
Concern:
The LA Times claim that “The report included a detailed description of the tape” amounts to a whitewash and journalistic malpractice.
Please stop publishing lies and start doing your job.
We know what is on the tape by their refusal to release it. Anything that would come out now would be like the doctored NBC George Zimmerman 911 call.
“. . . the relationship between the U.S. and Israel is . . . a lynch pin in the global struggle for Western civilization . ”
I’m pretty sure the word you want is linch-pin, although lynch pin has a certan appropriateness too.
Freudian slip?
Actually, both spellings are acceptable, but yours appears to be preferable (although mine is perhaps more metaphorically correct).
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/linchpin
And welcome back, assuming you are the same Catherine.
I’m not the same Catherine, but thanks for the welcome!
since when does a news organization sit on anything newsworthy, especially this volatile for long? talk about a scandal-within-a-scandal of the highest order.
but since there are no consequences for failing their basic duty as journalists this remains a non-issue.
I find it troubling that so many fault Jews for supporting Obama when, (a) Jews represent less than two percent of the electorate , (b) when blacks voted for Obama in greater absolute numbers and proportionately and (c) , Christians voted for Obama in greater absolute numbers and proportionately as well. Jews are derided when they (a) do not put Israels interests first and (b) when we put Israels interest first.
A recent poll getting headlines reported Jews would vote 62% for Obama. Digging a little deeper one finds the Chairman of the Board of the organization that paid for the poll, Public Religion Research Institute , works in the Obama administration. Readers here are to savvy not to draw their own conclusions however this little fact gets not reportage at all. Jews get so much attention because, simply put, folks are fascinated with us. So be it.
All this pails in importance to the fact that this morning my newest grandson had his Brit and that tonight I will relive the Exodus surrounded by family in friends in a free Jerusalem. The Eternal One keeps His promises.
Well said. B”H for remembering us in the Book of Life. Thank you for this comment here. It raises awareness of what we should trust, HaShem and Torah, not politics. IMHO.Happy Passover and Good Shabbos from Fla,USA.
I agree that the LA Times should release the tape in the interest of transparency.
That said, Obama applauding a scary Arab isn’t anymore damning than footage of him hugging a black guy was.
Am I the only one who doubts that the tape is even in the possesion of the LA Times anymore? I have trouble believing that after the election, during the consolidating power phase, that it wouldn’t have been rounded up. Possibly by the Grande Thugg himself, Rham Emanuel.
Mr. Simon, you know it, the LA Times knows it, Muslims know it, and most of the US population knows it, but the MSM is afraid to admit it – BHO is a muslim. Look at his behavior. Of course he is chums with the Islamist leader of Turkey – the Turks committed the first great genocide of the 20th century. Remember when Hitler mentioned in August 1939: “For who today speaks of the annihilation of the Armenians.”
